Chapter 333: The Return of the King

The flying brick puttered through the skies, carrying its cargo of worn out and slightly traumatised people, before it finally landed on the guild houses landing strip. Its doors opened and the party dismounted the brick with a collective groan.

A moment later, an undead and half decayed dragon landed in front of the house, before being quickly absorbed by its own shadow and leaving its rider standing alone.

Valerie’s stomach rumbled as she hobbled with the rest of the group into the guild house, her hunger growing after their trip as her body had used up a lot of energy healing herself. However she simply pulled a her flask from her shadow, twisted it open and took long, gulping swigs from it.

When she lowered it, she hungrily licked her crimson stained lips before glancing at Jason, who was currently staring her down in annoyance.

"You mean to tell me... You had that the entire time? Why the hell did I have to give you my blood when you had that?" He grumbled at her, his face completely dark with irritation.

"Hey, I didn’t make you do anything!" Valerie barked back, "You were the one who chose to give it to me. You could have stopped at any time. In fact, you did!"

"You bit my hand! I had to do this to get it out!" Jason shouted, holding up his hand and pointing to the multiple scars on the sides of his hand, from where he had healed himself in a rush.

"You were the one that stuck it in my mouth in the first place!" She yelled back, before lifting her flask up to her lips and taking another long swig of it. All while maintaining a very intense and hostile eye contact with Jason the entire time.

When he clicked his tongue in annoyance and looked away, Valerie took that as her victory.

When they opened the door to the guild house, they were expecting to find a sight of piles of boxes and random plants strewn about. Some of their members didn’t have much time to unpack, and others did not use the time they had usefully.

Yet what hit them instead wasn’t even a sight, but a smell. It was... cake? How, and more importantly why, in the world was someone here and baking cake?

The party shared a few confused looks before they rushed inside, Valerie hobbling behind the pack as she ran as fast as her decrepit legs would allow, before she arrived at the kitchen.

Her eyes widened in shock, before creasing with confusion, as she saw a familiar yet completely foreign sight.

A robot was gliding throughout the castle, his machine powered arms moving with amazing and practised precision like that of a trained chef, as he prepared a new batch of cake batter. Performing most of it without even looking as his eyes seemed focused on the cake that was already baking in the guilds oven.

When the party barged into the kitchen to gawk, however, the robot turned towards them to reveal the handsome face of a very famous popstar had been stapled to his head.

"Jinu?" Valerie muttered as she stared in confusion at the robot before her. She wasn’t sure what was more shocking. That he was here at all, after god knows what happened to him after he got hacked, or that he was able to cook so well after being completely incompetent and a true danger in the kitchen for so many years.

"I didn’t think you brought him along." Jason muttered as he leaned over to Valerie. Naturally he recognised the android, as he was the one that bought him for Valerie in the first place. Plus he had seen him many times across his different visits, so he was used to her modifications.

"I didn’t." Valerie replied, keeping her voice low as she watched him like a zoo animal. "And I definitely don’t let him in the kitchen. At least... I didn’t. He’s never shown skills like that before."

"That’s because I reprogrammed him."

The party whipped their heads towards the new voice, as Bai Yin strolled into the room with her hands clasped behind her back like she owned the place.

A few hands shot to their weapons, before Valerie quickly shuffled forwards and got between the two parties.

"Stop stop! This is Bai Yin. Remember, the uh... Thrall I mentioned. Well this is her." Valerie said with an awkward smile, gesturing to the refined woman behind her.

Bai Yin glared at the group, her eyes narrowed as she examined every single member before nodding to herself. Seemingly pleased by whatever merits she had created in her own mind.

"How did you find me here?" Valerie asked, turning back to Bai Yin. "I mean no offence, but I hadn’t told you about this place yet. I was waiting until you were finished with your business and I knew you were free and no one was watching you."

A warm smile spread across Bai Yin’s face, as she was undoubtedly happy to show off for her mistress.

"Well, finding people is part of my old job. Although for someone like my Lady, it is a truly difficult task. But nothing could be difficult enough to keep us separated.

Even without the bond that unites us, calling me to your side at all times, I would have found you in a matter of days. The call simply made it much easier.

However, I did take some time to stop and retrieve him. A house this big needs a butler, after all." She said, gesturing to Jinu who was still playing the role of the five star chef.

"I was the one that hacked him in the first place. Improving his programming and fitting him with some real training modules was not as difficult as the companies try to claim." She explained.

"What is he making anyways?" Trivian asked, sniffing at the air with an eager smile on his face.

"Blood Cake. It exchanges the protein coagulant with pig’s blood. Perfect for treats for my Lady." Bai Yin smiled sweetly, which was a slightly disturbing sight.

Trivian’s face paled, before turning slightly green as he pulled his head back.

"That... sounds great." He muttered with a weak, disgusted smile as he tried to hold back his bile.

"I think... I’m just going to go take care of my plants now..."
