Chapter 310: Who are you?
"So, it was Tristan, right?" Jason asked with a bashful smile, holding out his hand for a shake.
"Ah, right. We probably should have done introductions before I started blasting you with all the facts about my plants." Trivian said with a nervous laugh, letting go of the plant he was loading onto the SUV to rub his hands on his shirt. His nervousness left the plant teetering on the edge of the bed, as it threatened to fall off and plummet to its untimely demise 50 floors down.
"I’m just a little excited, is all. Plus this feels weird, like I know you but I kinda don’t at the same time.
And am I talking too much? I feel like I’m talking a lot. Like if I am talking a lot someone really needs to tell me because otherwise I will just keep talking because I really don’t think I can stop-"
Jason planted his other hand on Trivian’s shoulder, smiling warmly as the gesture caused Trivian to clamp his mouth shut and blush deeply.
"You are talking too much. But it’s fine, honestly. Just take a breath, calm down a little, and shake my hand."
Jason dragged his arm down Trivian’s arm, grabbing him by the wrist and gently placing Trivian’s hand in his own. It was a hand that was coated in sweat and plant sap, making it simultaneously clammy and sticky, but Jason didn’t pull away.
Trivian bobbed his head, following Jason’s instructions, before shaking his hand quickly.
"Trivian. My name is Trivian."
"Well, nice to meet you Trivian. I’m-"
"Jason Ashcroft, also known as Reaper of Stars." Trivian finished for him, with a slightly creepy smile that made the handshake a little extra awkward.
"Yeah, exactly." Jason said with a strained laugh, shaking his hand for a little bit more, before finally peeling his hand away and rubbing it on his trousers to try to get it clean, as Trivian turned to the girls.
"And you are.... Uh, who is who? No wait... I can guess..." Trivian muttered, glancing between the two women with narrowed eyes.
Eventually he snapped his fingers, pointing to Lucy with a proud smile.
"You’re Belladonna. You’ve got that evil look in your eyes. I just know that’s it."
Lucy frowned softly, glancing at Valerie with a hint of offence as if to ask ’Do I really look evil’ only for Valerie to simply shrug in response, which was not a very reassuring answer.
"No, I am Lilith. But here I am the very lovable, sweet and absolutely angelic Lucy. Who has not a hint of anything evil about her. Got it?" Lucy told him, giving him a strained smile that was definitely not angelic, and absolutely gave off evil and murderous vibes.
But as stupid as he could be Trivian knew better than saying anything in response to that comment other than,
"Y-yes, you’re right. I apologise, It was a trick of the light, that’s all. I can definitely see it now. Angel and Demon, what a perfect and fun contrast." He said with a nervous laugh
"Okay good." Lucy replied, her smile immediately switching to a wide and truly sweet smile that even gave her cheeks adorable dimples. The other two couldn’t help but laugh at the two of them.
"Which by process of elimination, makes me Belladonna. But you can call me Valerie, considering that is my name." Valerie said, stepping forwards and raising her cane, just in time to stop the tipping plant from falling.
With a slight shove, she pushed it back onto the bed and gave him her signature shark-toothed smile.
"Ah... Now I see that, it makes more sense. Still, I wasn’t expecting you to be... Well..." He said awkwardly, dancing around his final word, which Valerie decided to finish for him.
"Crippled? It’s okay, you can say it. Avoiding the word doesn’t make it less true. Besides, If you used the phrase ’Otherwise Abled in my Unique Ways’ I would have slapped you. You have no idea how many times I’ve heard that from being trying to be nice."
"Pfft, Yeah. I get you. I would never say that. Ever." He laughed. He was absolutely going to say that, he just couldn’t remember the right wording. Last time he got it wrong someone spent four hours shouting at him online.
"It’s fine. Come on, hurry up and get in. We’ve got places to be, people to meet and monsters to kill. Don’t worry though, I won’t bite." Valerie added, giving him another evil shark-toothed smile, before gnashing her teeth at him.
"Besides, hovering here is costing me fuel and that stuff is expensive." She muttered, before awkwardly clambering up onto the concrete railing and into the open door of the SUV, as it hovered right beside the balcony.
"Expensive? Aren’t you a millionaire?"
"That’s irrelevant." Valerie grumbled, as he pulled herself into the car, with a helpful shove from Jason. Trivian wanted to help, but he was far too scared to touch anywhere in the necessary region to try.
Lucy couldn’t help but giggle mischievously at the expression Trivian was making, as she leaned close and half whispered to him although not actually quiet enough to seem like she was actually trying to go unheard.
"Don’t worry, She’s spoken for anyways." She said with a wink.
"Shut up! I have a sword in this cane you know, and I am not afraid to use it to cut you!" Valerie shouted at Lucy, waving her cane at her like an angry old woman.
Lucy giggled mischievously again, before skipping over to the SUV and climbing in with angelic grace.
Trivian stood on the balcony, a slightly confused look in his eyes, as he glanced between the three individuals in the SUV. He couldn’t help but replace their actual appearance with the look of their characters in his mind, as they argued, bickered and joked with each other.
The Angelic Demon, the Muscular Goliath turned Femboy, and the crippled martial artist. He chuckled softly to himself, shaking his head in dismay. He really was the only normal one of this bunch, at least in his mind.
To think, all this madness in his life was because he decided to help out that strange, bewildered pair of noob girls in the dungeon so that they wouldn’t hate a game.
He could only imagine how boring and ’normal’ his life would have been if he never met them. But why would he ever give that up now?
Climbing into the SUV, Trivian took one last look at his old apartment, before closing the door as the SUV pulled away and climbed into the skies.
