Chapter 297: The Meeting that changed the world
The Monarchs, the Greys, the Attano’s and the Zhao’s. Four families that were extremely powerful and had their fingers in nearly every business in the world. All of them had a high ranking member of the family sitting in this massive meeting room that was akin to a lecture hall, alongside dozens of other figures of incredible power, wealth or influence. Not just the corporations were present, but some well known government officials or their envoys.
Even the Tyrant King of Mars had sent a robotic envoy in his place, which was just a creepy little robot with a head like a spoon that protected the Tyrant King’s face on it. More than the
The presence of everyone in this room was making Percy sweat. Not just because, if they so wanted to, this meeting could quite literally end the world as all of these people together represented the entire world’s corporation, as well as other worlds.
But because Percy could feel a different type of presence from the members of the four families. Although his senses were not as attuned as others, such as Valerie, and he did not have mana vision. He still knew enough to feel the mana radiating off of the four family heads.
Naturally, since he could sense them, they could definitely sense him. Especially since they were notably more powerful than him, at least when it came to source levels.
However it didn’t seem to cause much of a stir amongst them. All it earned him was a mere glance or a curious once over, before they went back to ignoring him alongside the others who were not seated at the large, supervillian looking meeting table.
"Ah, You are all here, wonderful." Noel said as he strode into the room, a wide smile on his face and a clap of his hands.
His eager eyes ran over the faces of all those in attendance, lingering for a few moments on the heads of the four families as well as Percy himself, before he stepped back to the nearest wall and tapped on it.
The wall shifted colour, as it turned itself into a screen that displayed multiple angles of security footage, all of them showing a large bank lobby. The people on the footage were milling about, going about their usual business.
"Ladies, Gentlemen, Your Highness." Noel said, rubbing his hands together and smiling widely, "I bring you here to make an announcement to you, one that will change the very world as we know it. But I also have a business opportunity, one that I am sure that you will be very eager to hear."
As he spoke, the bank footage kept playing behind him, drawing a few confused looks from those in attendance. It was the type of bank that treated mere millionaires as high end customers. It was nothing special, especially not to the Trillionaires in the room.
So why in the world, or worlds, would they care about such a thing? Why was a game company employee here to sell them bank security?
Noel laughed to himself, as he could easily read their thoughts on the expressions of everyone in front of him.
"No, I am not here to sell you mere bank security. In fact, what I am offering you is far more important than that, however it won’t make sense until you understand one very important fact."
He grinned widely and clapped his hands. At the same time, as if he had synchronised it perfectly, the doors of the bank exploded.
That caused a few of the people to flinch and jump in surprise, their eyes shooting to the footage as they listened to his next words.
"Magic is real."
The room was silent, apart from the noise of the footage that had some guards rushing out and shouting at the lone robber. Before finally, the room burst out into ridiculous laughter. All of it was pointed towards the man at the front, who took it with a cocky and knowing smile.
However such laughter was notably absent when it came to the four family heads and their companions.
The sound of a gunshot was hard to hear over the laughter, however one of them happened to look at the screen as he was wiping the tears from his eyes. He took a double take at the screen, before his eyes widened in shock, horror and disbelief, at the bullet floating in the air in front of the robbers forehead.
Other screens appeared, showing zoomed in footage of what was occurring, which quickly drew the attention - and more importantly the silence - of all those who were watching.
Noel stood, a smile permanently etched onto his face, less concerned with the world changing footage as he was about the priceless expressions of those in front of him. Naturally he noticed the constipated expressions of the four family heads, which only made his smile widen as he chuckled to himself.
He let the footage play out, letting them watch how easily a single man tore through the guards and the automated defences that many of them used for their personal security. The way their faces paled and eyes filled with horror was simply sublime.
That went doubly so for the government reps, who were watching military hardware be treated like mere toys.
When the footage had clearly gotten his point across, Noel snapped his fingers, causing it to pause on a perfect frame of the young man blasting a bolt of green lightning.
"As you know, we have recently released a new game, Dawn of Divinity. Along with it, we sold an energy drink, D-fuel.
These might seem innocent, but when combined and given enough time, this is the result. Superhuman abilities. Magic, for anyone and everyone.
Of course, when they use those abilities, they will need more of the drink to charge themselves back up. It’s a wonderful model, if I do say so myself. A subscription on superpowers.
However, lucky for you, the energy drink is not the most effective method. We have other methods, developed through our unique and classified ingredients," He said, intentionally glancing at the four family members, as if daring them to say anything to the contrary.
But when they did not speak, he chuckled and continued.
"With that, we can create your very own superhuman warriors. We call them, Enforcers." He snapped his fingers again, as the footage suddenly cut to the entrance of the three enforces, clad in their glamorous equipment as they rushed down the bank robber.
A few gasps were heard, as they saw the superhuman capabilities of the Enforcers, and how efficient they were in dispatching the criminal.
However, not all were completely convinced.
"How do we know this footage is real? Such a thing can be easily staged or faked entirely. What guarantee do we have?" The member of the Grey family asked, immediately causing a wave of disbelief and doubt to flow through the crowd.
"Besides, I have not heard of such an event happening even once. If this was real, we would have known."
Noel narrowed his eyes at him, shooting him daggers, but only smirked at the challenge.
"You are right. It is far too easy to fake such a thing. I didn’t want to ruin the surprise, or cause chaos before our big accouncement. So I kept the news away and made sure the eyewitnesses understood their silence is required.
However, if you still don’t believe me. How about a demonstration? I have Enforcers standing at the ready. As for their opponent, well... We have our very own beta tester, a prime subject of the process.
Isn’t that right, Prince of Stars?"
