Chapter 264: Chapter: 263 Buying a House.[3]
Jasmine blinked before a look of pure disgust slowly spread across her face.
"Never. Ever. Name. Anything. Again."
There was such certainty in her voice that it almost sounded like a commandment carved into stone.
Kavin looked at her with complete confusion.
"What do you mean? Weren’t we bandits?"
"So?" Jasmine immediately shot back. "That doesn’t mean we name our house Bandit’s Hut. And don’t ever try naming anything again. Not the house, not the furniture, and definitely not the children."
Kavin looked deeply offended by the accusation.
"But I named Rosel. Isn’t her name great?"
Jasmine stared at him for several seconds before letting out a dry laugh.
"Oh? You mean you took my name, Rose, and added an ’L’ at the end? Is that what you call naming?"
"Now you’re being rude."
"No, I’m being truthful."
"I named her perfectly."
"You renamed me and called it creativity."
The two continued arguing as they walked toward the estate. Neither showed the slightest intention of surrendering, and by the time they reached the gate they were still exchanging complaints.
Kavin unlocked the elegant metal gate while continuing to defend his naming abilities, while Jasmine continued dismantling every example he could provide.
The argument only came to an abrupt stop after they stepped through the gate and entered the house.
Both of them fell silent.
The entrance hall stretched before them, illuminated by the warm golden glow of an elegant chandelier hanging from the ceiling.
The room itself wasn’t excessively large, but it possessed a comfortable spaciousness that immediately made it feel welcoming.
A luxurious sofa sat around a polished table while decorative furnishings occupied the corners of the room. Along the left wall stood a carefully crafted cabinet filled with expensive alcohol.
Bottles of whiskey, wine, beer, and countless other drinks were neatly arranged behind glass panels that reflected the chandelier’s light, making the collection appear even more impressive than it already was.
For a few moments neither of them spoke, they just simply stood there, quietly taking in the sight before them.
This wasn’t a temporary residence they would abandon after a few months. It wasn’t a rented room or another safe house prepared for emergencies.
This place belonged to them. The realization carried a strange weight that made even something as simple as standing inside the entrance hall feel surprisingly satisfying.
Eventually they continued forward and climbed the staircase leading to the second floor.
Three bedrooms occupied the upper floor. The middle room had naturally become their choice while the remaining two rooms had been reserved for guests and future children, though neither of them expected the latter category to become relevant anytime soon.
Kavin appeared entirely unconcerned by that fact.
Jasmine deliberately ignored the pleased look on his face.
After reaching the center room, they pushed open the door and stepped inside.
The bedroom greeted them with an overwhelming commitment to a single theme.
Roses.
Everything was roses.
The walls carried soft pink colors while intricate rose petal decorations had been carved and painted across the surfaces.
Even the chandelier hanging above seemed determined to contribute to the aesthetic, its design matching the room’s overall appearance.
At the center stood a large bed covered in luxurious sheets while a small table occupied the space nearby.
A dressing area decorated one side of the room and a compact wine rack stood near the bed, holding two bottles expensive enough to make ordinary people question their life choices.
A bookshelf occupied one corner of the room.
Neither of them particularly enjoyed reading, though novels of certain genres were a different matter.
These books, however, were of the classic kind, historical legends, psychological investigations, theories, and similar works.
They were sophisticated, elegant, and aesthetically pleasing, the sort of books that looked as though they belonged on the shelves of scholars rather than casual readers.
That was the entire reason.
The two wandered around the room for a while, examining various details and decorations.
Every now and then one of them would point something out while the other nodded in approval.
There wasn’t anything particularly extraordinary about the room compared to the luxurious residences they had seen throughout their lives, yet both found themselves strangely satisfied.
Perhaps because this one was theirs.
Eventually they left the bedroom and climbed the final staircase leading upward.
The rooftop immediately greeted them with a completely different atmosphere.
A cool breeze swept across the open space while the evening sunlight reflected against the water occupying most of the rooftop.
Nearly seventy percent of the area had been converted into a swimming pool filled with crystal-clear water that shimmered beneath the sky.
Several comfortable reclining chairs rested beneath large umbrellas while decorative lights lined the edges of the rooftop.
The entire place radiated relaxation.
Jasmine slowly looked around the rooftop before her eyes settled upon the pool.
Without hesitation she pulled down her gown, revealing the swimsuit she had already been wearing underneath.
Before Kavin could even comment, she jumped.
Water exploded upward as she entered the pool.
A moment later she resurfaced with a smile and immediately began swimming through the clear water.
The carefree expression on her face was something Kavin rarely saw these days. Seeing her simply enjoy herself without worrying about anything else made him smile.
Meanwhile, Kavin walked toward the barbecue station positioned near one side of the rooftop.
He carefully inspected the setup before opening one of the storage compartments.
Inside sat a large container filled with charcoal.
His eyes immediately brightened, everything was already prepared, the rooftop pool, the chairs, the barbecue.
The view overlooking the city.
As he imagined spending peaceful evenings here, a grin slowly spread across his face.
"Yeah," he said while nodding to himself. "This is perfect."
The rest of the day passed quietly as they explored the house and settled themselves into their new residence.
They inspected every room once again, organized their belongings, discussed which areas would be used for what purpose, and gradually transformed the empty building into something that felt more like a home.
By the time night arrived, both of them found themselves lying comfortably on their bed.
The room was illuminated by two small candle stands positioned on either side, their soft light casting gentle shadows across the rose-themed bedroom.
"Now that we’ve settled in, there shouldn’t be any problems spending the next four years here, right?" Kavin asked while staring at the ceiling.
Beside him, Jasmine remained silent for a few moments before giving a small nod.
"Yeah."
The room gradually fell quiet afterward.
Both of them stared upward while lost in their own thoughts.
Kavin found himself unexpectedly missing something from his previous life.
Since certain activities were currently impossible thanks to their disguises and circumstances, his mind naturally wandered toward entertainment instead.
Games.
There had been so many games back then.
If this world possessed proper technology, they could have spent entire evenings playing together.
Electricity wasn’t even the main issue anymore. Given enough effort, spell casters could probably create substitutes for that. The real problem was everything else.
Computers, networks, hardware, software, and the countless games he had accumulated over the years simply didn’t exist here.
A sigh escaped him.
His thoughts drifted toward another regret.
Honestly, if he hadn’t been drunk back then, he could have used that opportunity far more wisely. Instead of wasting it, he could have returned to his real now. Things would be very different right now if he had.
The heavens truly seemed determined to make sure he never enjoyed life too much.
Meanwhile, Jasmine’s thoughts were heading down a surprisingly similar path.
She stared at the ceiling while quietly contemplating something she had spent a long time avoiding.
Should she compromise? The appearance was different, that much was undeniable.
But appearances weren’t everything.
The soul remained the same, the person remained the same.
Wasn’t that what truly mattered?
She herself no longer looked like her original self either. If bodies changed while the people inside remained unchanged, then perhaps appearance wasn’t as important as she had convinced herself it was.
The more she thought about it, the harder it became to argue against that logic...though the pang of jealousy made it harder....
Concentrating even more, ’If two people reincarnated into entirely different bodies, they would still be themselves.’
Wouldn’t they?
As Jasmine continued considering those thoughts, a sudden burst of light appeared beside the bed.
Sparks scattered through the air.
Floating beside her was a tiny figure no larger than a fist.
Floating beside the bed was a tiny figure no larger than a fist.
She looked completely different from Jasmine.
Long black hair flowed behind her like a cloak several times larger than her own body, swaying gently despite the lack of wind.
Pointed ears protruded from the sides of her head while pale ivory skin seemed almost luminous beneath the candlelight.
Despite her miniature size, she retained Rosalina’s mature figure perfectly, as though someone had taken an adult woman and shrunk her down to the size of a doll.
A tiny trident rested firmly in her hand.
Her expression, however, was anything but cute.
Arrogance...the word was written all over her face.
And an almost frightening amount of anger were written plainly across her face.
She hovered in the air with her arms crossed, glaring directly at Jasmine as though she had been personally offended by her existence.
For a brief moment Jasmine was startled by the sudden appearance. Then recognition dawned on her face.
A smile immediately followed.
"Oh? Devil?"
The hostility radiating from the tiny figure didn’t affect her in the slightest.
Instead, she looked genuinely pleased.
"Long time no see. How have you been these days?"
