Chapter 59: Damian’s Guess Was Right
Damian did not stay on the bloody street for even a moment longer than necessary.
After collecting the storage rings from the six corpses, he immediately activated [Thunder Flash Steps] and disappeared into the night.
He had no intention of cleaning up the corpses or hiding the traces of battle.
That would have been pointless as These people were clearly not ordinary robbers.
From their behavior before, Damian was almost certain they belonged to some hidden information or spy organization.
A group like that would definitely have accomplices nearby.
Even if Damian burned the corpses, erased the blood, and destroyed the battlefield, it would not matter.
His identity had already been exposed, and more importantly, the enemy would know their people had disappeared.
Trying to hide everything now would only waste time. "Damn it... I really showed off too much."
Damian’s figure flickered across the rooftops, leaving faint thunder afterimages behind him.
His expression was no longer lazy or playful. Instead, his eyes were cold and serious.
He was not afraid of ordinary Foundation Establishment cultivators anymore, but that did not mean he was invincible.
If the organization behind those people sent stronger cultivators, or worse, someone in the Golden Core Realm, then things would become troublesome as hell.
"I need to leave before they react properly."
With that thought, Damian increased his speed even more.
Thunder Qi burst beneath his feet again and again as he crossed several streets in only a short time.
Soon, he returned to his residence.
The moment he pushed open the gate, Violetta and Vulkara both looked toward him.
Violetta was sitting beneath the tree like usual, while Vulkara was practicing nearby with her short blade.
The moment they saw Damian’s expression, both of them immediately noticed something was wrong.
Vulkara frowned. "What happened? Why do you look like someone chased you?"
Damian did not joke back this time.
He looked at both of them and spoke directly. "Pack your things. We’re leaving."
The courtyard instantly became quiet.
Violetta’s expression changed slightly. "Leaving, Master?"
Vulkara also froze. "What the hell? Leaving where?"
Damian walked past them quickly and headed toward his room. "No time to explain in detail. I got into trouble outside."
Vulkara’s eyes narrowed. "Trouble? What kind of trouble?"
Damian stopped for a moment and looked back at her. "The kind that might bring stronger enemies here very soon."
The moment those words came out, Violetta immediately stood up.
She did not ask more.
She only nodded gently. "I understand, Master."
Then she turned around and quickly went toward her room.
Vulkara stared at Damian for a second longer, clearly still confused, but when she saw his serious expression, her usual complaints became stuck in her throat.
This was the first time she had seen Damian look like this, and that was why Vulkara clicked her tongue and left. "Damn it... fine."
Damian entered his own room and quickly swept everything useful into his storage ring.
A short while later, Violetta and Vulkara returned to the courtyard with small bundles and storage pouches.
Violetta looked calm, though her eyes were serious.
Vulkara looked irritated, but even she understood that this was not the time to argue.
Damian glanced at them and nodded. "Good."
Vulkara frowned. "So where are we going?"
Before Damian could answer, several cold auras suddenly descended around the courtyard.
Violetta’s expression changed first.
Her eyes moved toward the wall, then toward the rooftops, and her calm face finally became serious. "Master..."
Vulkara immediately tightened her grip on her short blade. "What now?"
In the next moment, multiple figures appeared one after another.
Some landed on the courtyard walls, some stood on the rooftops, and several directly blocked the gate.
All of them wore dark clothes, and their auras were far stronger than ordinary cultivators.
Violetta’s eyes narrowed slightly as she looked at two women among them. "I recognize them."
Damian glanced at her. "You do?"
Violetta nodded. "They are from the brothel district."
Damian clicked his tongue lightly. "Then I was right."
Vulkara frowned. "Right about what?"
Damian slowly drew his sword and spoke calmly. "It seems my habit of gifting those women too much finally drew their attention. They wanted to rob me, so I killed them."
Vulkara’s eyes widened slightly. "You killed who?"
Damian smiled faintly. "Some of their people."
Violetta’s frown deepened. "Then these people are here for revenge."
Before Damian could answer, the leader of the group stepped forward.
He was a tall man wearing a dark-purple robe, and his eyes were filled with cold killing intent.
"Damian." His voice echoed through the courtyard. "How dare you kill members of the Night Fragrance Pavilion?"
Damian raised an eyebrow slightly. "Night Fragrance Pavilion?"
Violetta’s face changed a little. "So it really was them..."
Damian glanced at her. "You know them?"
Violetta nodded seriously. "Yes. I had some dealings with them before."
Damian’s eyes narrowed slightly. "What kind of dealings?"
Violetta’s expression remained calm, but her voice became quieter. "Back when I was still a courtesan, I sometimes sold information to them."
Vulkara immediately looked at her in surprise. "You sold information?"
Violetta nodded. "Yes. Many guests talked too much after drinking, and some of that information was valuable. The Night Fragrance Pavilion bought that kind of information from people like me."
Damian slowly understood. "So they are not just a brothel."
Violetta shook her head. "No. They are an information organization that uses courtesans, singers, dancers, and pleasure houses to gather secrets from cultivators."
Damian frowned slightly. "Then how were you able to leave?"
Violetta answered calmly, "Because I was never a true member. I only sold information to them from time to time, so they had no reason to stop me from leaving."
Damian sighed. "Damn. So I guessed correctly."
The leader’s expression darkened. "You still dare act relaxed?"
Damian ignored him and turned toward Violetta and Vulkara. "Both of you, run first."
Violetta immediately frowned. "Master."
Vulkara also looked at him sharply. "The hell? You want us to run while you stay behind?"
Damian smiled calmly. "Don’t worry. I’m more powerful than you think."
Violetta stared at him for a moment.
She knew Damian was strong, but the people surrounding them were clearly not simple.
Still, after seeing the look in his eyes, she finally sighed softly. "Then please be careful, Master."
Damian nodded. "I will."
Violetta grabbed Vulkara’s wrist. "Come. We run first."
Vulkara gritted her teeth. "Damn it..."
But in the end, she followed Violetta.
Damian turned back toward the Night Fragrance Pavilion cultivators and slowly raised his sword.
"Alright then." His grin became colder. "Who wants to die first?"
