Chapter 58: The Ambush Ends Badly
The six cultivators moved almost at the same time.
Four dark-robed men rushed forward first, each one releasing their Foundation Establishment aura without holding back.
One attacked from the front, one circled from the left, one appeared from the right, and the last one leapt above Damian with a short spear in his hand.
Clearly, they wanted to kill him before he could even react.
But Damian only smiled.
[Thunder Flash Steps]
Thunder Qi burst beneath his feet, and his figure instantly vanished from where he stood.
The four attacks landed at the same time.
BOOM!
The ground shattered, but Damian was no longer there.
All they struck was a faint thunder afterimage that scattered into sparks.
"What?!"
Before the front man could react, Damian had already appeared behind him, his sword raised calmly.
[Mountain Breaking Sword Art]
His blade descended.
There was no fancy movement, no unnecessary flourish.
Only overwhelming weight.
BANG!
The man’s defensive Qi shattered instantly, and Damian’s sword tore through his body with brutal force.
The first dark-robed man collapsed before he could even scream.
The other three men’s expressions changed drastically.
"Careful! His movement technique is strange!"
But Damian had no intention of giving them time to adjust.
Thunder flashed again beneath his feet.
His body blurred, appearing beside the second man like a ghost wrapped in lightning.
The second man roared and swung his saber, but Damian’s sword was already falling.
[Mountain Breaking Sword Art]
BOOM!
The saber snapped in half, and the man’s chest caved in from the terrifying force.
He flew backward and crashed into a wall, dead before he hit the ground.
The third man immediately turned pale. "Damn it! He’s not ordinary!"
He tried to retreat, but Damian’s thunder afterimage appeared in front of him.
The man panicked and stabbed forward, but his spear pierced straight through the fake image.
Damian’s real body appeared behind him and grinned. "Too slow."
The sword fell again.
[Mountain Breaking Sword Art]
This time, the strike smashed through the man’s shoulder and split him diagonally in one heavy blow.
Blood splashed across the silent street.
The fourth man, who had leapt into the air earlier, saw the other three die in just a few breaths, and his face twisted in horror.
He immediately tried to flee, but Damian only looked up and grinned.
[Thunder Flash Steps]
His figure disappeared from the ground and reappeared above the man in midair.
The fourth man looked up, his pupils shrinking. "Impossible-"
Damian’s sword came down like a collapsing mountain.
[Mountain Breaking Sword Art]
BOOOOM!
The man was smashed straight into the ground, creating a spiderweb of cracks beneath him.
Silence returned to the street.
The four dark-robed men were dead.
Damian slowly landed, his sword dripping with blood as thunder flickered around him.
The night street became completely silent.
The two women who had followed him from the brothel stood frozen in place, their faces pale and their bodies trembling.
Just a moment ago, they had still believed that six Foundation Establishment cultivators were more than enough to suppress Damian.
But now, four of their companions had died in only a few breaths.
Damian slowly turned his head toward them.
The moment his gaze landed on the two women, their legs weakened almost instantly.
One of them quickly stepped back, her voice shaking. "Y-Young Master Damian... wait..."
The other woman immediately dropped to her knees. "Please spare us! We were wrong! We were only following orders!"
Damian looked at them calmly, his sword still hanging loosely in his hand.
The first woman bit her lip and forced herself to speak despite the fear in her eyes. "We can serve you! Whatever you want, we can give it to you!"
The second woman quickly nodded, tears forming in her eyes. "Yes! Our bodies, information, anything! Please don’t kill us!"
Damian stared at them for several seconds before sighing. "Honestly, if this were my old world, maybe I would hesitate."
The two women froze slightly.
Damian’s eyes slowly became colder. "But this is a cultivation world."
He raised his sword. "You followed me here to rob me, maybe torture me, and probably kill me after taking everything."
His voice was calm, but there was no warmth in it. "So I’m sorry."
The two women’s expressions twisted in horror.
"Wait-"
Damian ignored them and only said a simple sentence. "Don’t worry. I’ll make it painless."
SHING!
Damian’s sword swept across the air in one clean motion.
The two women froze.
A thin red line appeared across their necks, and a moment later, their heads slid from their shoulders.
Their bodies collapsed quietly onto the ground.
Damian lowered his sword and exhaled slowly.
For a brief moment, he looked at the six corpses scattered across the street.
Then he clicked his tongue. "This is why showing off too much attracts trouble."
After saying that, he quickly collected their storage rings and left the area without wasting any more time.
His figure disappeared into the night with a flash of thunder.
---
Not long after Damian left, several shadows appeared on the street.
They were dressed similarly to the dead cultivators, and the moment they saw the corpses on the ground, their expressions instantly became ugly.
One of them crouched down beside the body of the woman and checked the wound before his face darkened. "One strike."
Another man looked at the shattered ground and broken walls nearby. "The same for the others. Whoever killed them was strong."
A woman among them frowned deeply. "Was it the target?"
The first man stayed silent for a moment before nodding. "Most likely."
The atmosphere became heavy.
They had thought Damian was only a rich fool with too many treasures, but from the scene in front of them, that clearly wasn’t the case.
He had killed six Foundation Establishment cultivators quickly and cleanly.
That was not something an ordinary target could do.
One of them clenched his fists. "Should we chase him?"
The leader immediately shook his head. "No."
His eyes narrowed as he looked in the direction Damian had disappeared. "A person like this is not someone we can handle casually."
He stood up and spoke coldly. "Report this first."
The others nodded.
Soon, the shadows disappeared from the street, leaving only blood, broken stone, and six silent corpses behind.
