Chapter 141: Vivian Plans The Next Meal
Selvara was now sitting inside one of Heavenly Palace’s private gardens, calmly drinking tea across from Vivian.
The floating garden was peaceful, filled with soft music, spiritual flowers, and thin mist drifting between the white-jade pathways.
Compared to the chaos surrounding Nolan’s scandal, the place felt almost ridiculously calm.
Selvara placed her teacup down. "You did a good job."
Vivian smiled gently. "Oh? Praise from you is rare."
Selvara ignored the teasing completely. "Can you make it worse?"
Vivian paused for a moment before her smile widened slightly. "Of course I can, but are you sure?"
She slowly turned her teacup between her fingers. "Aren’t you worried about your sect?"
Selvara nodded without hesitation. "Yes, I am."
Vivian raised an eyebrow.
Selvara’s expression became more serious. "I care about the Heavenly Sword Sect, but this is also for my grand-disciple, Violetta."
Her eyes slowly grew colder. "I want you to destroy him even more."
Vivian’s smile became faintly amused.
Selvara paused for a moment, and when she continued, her voice was quieter.
"Just... can you at least lessen the damage to the Heavenly Sword Sect?"
For Selvara, that was already close to pleading.
"I don’t care what happens to Nolan," she added bluntly. "Do whatever you want to him. Ruin him if you have to. Just try not to drag the entire sect down with him."
Vivian slowly picked up her teacup. "Selvara, do you really know me so little now?"
Selvara remained silent.
Vivian gave her a slightly wounded smile that was obviously fake. "How can you have so little faith in me after all these years?"
Selvara stared at her for several breaths.
A moment later, she realized Vivian was right.
It had simply been too long since they had spent much time together.
Perhaps she had forgotten just how terrifyingly good Vivian was at this sort of thing.
Vivian’s smile became sweeter. "The next piece of news will be even better, and this time, it will no longer drag the Heavenly Sword Sect’s name down with him."
She took a small sip of tea. "You should simply sit down, relax, and slowly enjoy the meal."
Selvara frowned slightly.
She knew Vivian’s real personality far too well.
That sweet smile usually meant someone was about to suffer for a very, very long time.
Selvara stared at her for several breaths before deciding not to ask for details.
Sometimes, ignorance really was more peaceful.
A moment later, she remembered something and looked around the garden. "By the way, where is Violetta? I haven’t seen her."
Vivian casually gestured toward the distant sky. "Oh, she isn’t here. She went out with my other disciples for training."
Selvara raised an eyebrow. "What kind of training?"
Vivian giggled softly. "The kind Damian would probably describe as courtesan training."
Selvara’s expression immediately became strange.
Vivian laughed at her reaction. "Hehe... don’t look at me like that. He wasn’t entirely wrong, though."
She calmly continued, "Heavenly Palace deals with information, beauty, performance, influence, and people. Knowing how to read others, control a room, gather secrets, and make someone lower their guard is part of cultivation here."
Her purple eyes gleamed faintly. "The real world is often the best training ground."
Vivian noticed Selvara’s expression and added, "Don’t worry. My disciples are with her."
Her smile became slightly warmer. "They will protect her innocence and purity."
Selvara stared at her.
Vivian laughed softly. "Hehe... mostly."
Selvara’s eyes immediately narrowed.
Vivian lifted her cup with an innocent expression. "I’m joking. Don’t look at me like that."
She took another graceful sip. "We are Heavenly Palace, Selvara. Not some filthy roadside brothel."
Selvara continued staring at her suspiciously for a moment longer.
Finally, she let out a quiet sigh of relief.
A rare, faint smile appeared on her face. "Good. I’m counting on you."
Vivian smiled back. "Of course. We have known each other for a very long time."
Selvara said nothing else.
She simply picked up her teacup and continued drinking while Vivian watched her with that same gentle smile.
For some reason, Selvara suddenly felt that perhaps Nolan should start praying.
---
In another city, inside a quiet private room, Violetta looked around curiously.
The room was elegant but unfamiliar, decorated with dark wood, soft lantern light, and a faint fragrance drifting through the air.
She turned toward Raven. "Senior Sister, where are we?"
Raven calmly adjusted the sleeve of her black robe. "One of Heavenly Palace’s branches."
Violetta nodded slowly.
Raven studied her for a moment before asking, "You were once a courtesan, correct?"
Violetta’s expression remained calm. "Yes."
Raven asked another question. "What did you do?"
Violetta thought for a moment. "I sang, danced, played instruments, and accompanied clients while they drank or talked."
She added quietly, "I never slept with them."
Raven nodded once. "Good."
Violetta blinked, slightly confused by the simple answer.
Raven turned toward the door. "Follow me."
Violetta raised an eyebrow. "Where are we going?"
"To meet one of my regular clients," Raven replied without looking back.
Violetta paused.
A moment later, Raven glanced over her shoulder. "You need training."
Violetta quickly followed beside her. "Training?"
Raven nodded calmly. "What you did before was the work of a cheap courtesan."
Violetta’s eyebrow twitched.
She had once been one of the most famous courtesans in her city. Men had spent absurd amounts of money just to hear her play a single song.
For a brief moment, she almost wanted to argue.
However, Violetta quickly remembered who was walking in front of her.
Raven was a core disciple of Heavenly Palace.
Compared to someone like her, perhaps Violetta really had only been playing at the surface.
She lowered her head slightly. "Yes, Senior Sister."
Raven opened the door leading into the corridor. "A true Heavenly Palace courtesan does not simply sing, dance, and pour wine."
Her dark eyes shifted toward Violetta as she explained it in simple terms. "She listens, watches, and learns."
Violetta focused completely on her words.
Raven continued, "You learn what the client wants, what they fear, what they hide, who they hate, who they trust, and what they would never willingly tell anyone."
Her voice remained calm. "Basically, your task is to learn everything about them without making them realize you are asking."
Violetta’s eyes sharpened slightly.
She quietly followed Raven down the corridor.
Raven’s voice remained cold and controlled. "Today, you will watch me meet one of my regular clients."
Violetta nodded.
Raven added, "Do not speak unless I tell you to."
Violetta nodded again. "Yes, Senior Sister."
A few moments later, they stopped in front of another private room.
Raven placed one hand on the door. "Watch carefully."
Her cold expression softened.
Within a single breath, the distant senior sister disappeared.
Her eyes became gentler, her posture relaxed, and even the smallest movements of her fingers seemed more graceful. She did not suddenly become openly seductive or overly sweet.
Instead, Raven became elegant and mysterious woman who could make someone talk for hours just to earn one more approving glance.
Violetta’s eyes widened slightly.
The change was far more terrifying than she expected.
Raven opened the door and gave her a faint, unreadable smile. "Let us begin."
