Chapter 43: First Encounter
"I’m sorry! I didn’t mean to crash into you."
"Didn’t mean to?"
Ray was nearly on the verge of tears from the impact. He only realized his stomach had been hit, but failed to notice that there was pain between his legs.
Just what the hell was that person holding to have something pointy hitting him there?
’A ruler??!’ Ray nearly lost his mind. That ruler even had a slight hint of blood—his blood!
"Young Master, are you okay?" Belva approached him and quickly cast a healing spell on his injuries.
"Do I seem alright?" Ray gritted his teeth and glanced at the person who caused him harm.
As soon as he did, the person instantly flinched in fear.
[+5 Villain Points]
’What the actual fuck??! Are you serious?’ He didn’t even do any villainous acts and somehow gained it. If it had been normal times, he would have been fine and even cheered for free points.
But he was a damn victim here.
If anyone was gaining villainous points, it should have been this person who carried a ton of textbooks and a ruler weapon!
Alas, by the time Ray finally got a clearer look at the person’s face, who was covered in long, messy hair, he nearly cursed again.
’Isn’t this the second heroine, Samantha?’ Maybe his luck really wasn’t that bad.
Or that was what he thought.
"Hey, you." Ray tried to call out to her before she started screaming.
"No, please forgive me!" Samantha teared up and pleaded. "I’m sorry for harming you, but I really don’t have any money to compensate you. Please spare my body."
"..."
Are you freaking serious right now?
Who the hell wants your body?
Ray wanted to clarify his intention until a voice suddenly interrupted.
"How could you bully others in the heart of the empire!"
"Who’s bullying?"
Ray roared and turned to the newcomer, only to nearly choke himself.
[+10 Villain Points!]
[Congratulations on your first encounter with the protagonist! You have just earned their hatred and disgust!]
Indeed, the one who appeared was none other than the protagonist in this novel world, William.
He was donned in his cliche black hair and a sword attached to his waist, acting like some knight in shining armor.
’Fuck, why did I even think he was cool back then?’ Ray seriously questioned his mentality.
This dude was clearly ridiculous!
Did he seriously jump into the scene without even bothering to investigate or understand the situation first?
"You may be a noble, but that doesn’t give you the right to bully a commoner!" William stood in front of Samantha and declared.
’Holy shit, I’m cringing from this garbage third-rate dialogue.’ Ray twitched his mouth in disbelief.
However, what really got him nauseous was that Samantha actually had her eyes glistening at the sight of William’s heroic defense.
’Okay, fuck this heroine too.’ He had had enough of their bullshit. This Samantha didn’t even look good anyway compared to his imagination.
Moreover, she was clearly a love-brain idiot who couldn’t discern reality.
Maybe that was the reason why William rejected all the heroines and chose Edgar.
Nope, he needed to stop his thought process there. Otherwise, he really couldn’t resist fighting William for the torture he went through.
But seriously...
Why was he acting like a knight in shining armor when he was into men and not women?
While William assisted Samantha up from the ground, Ray clicked his tongue.
"Listen here, she’s the one who bumped and injured me. There are eyewitnesses here, and that ruler is still stained in my blood. If you wish to twist white and black, then we can go to court to settle this." Ray declared solemnly.
Since he was destined to be a Villain Extra, he might as well play the role perfectly.
What could William do?
He can’t possibly harm him when he did nothing wrong.
And as long as he didn’t actively harm William either, his bullshit plot armor wouldn’t activate.
’I’ve read many extra novels too, besides that goddamn bait. Did you think I’ll let you have any power-ups for free?’ The danger hadn’t even arrived according to the novel timeline.
From Chapter one to Chapter three, everything was relatively peaceful, with the protagonist simply trying to adapt to his new life as an academy student.
However, it seemed like he was going to become the protagonist’s first obstacle in the empire rather than the inspection guards.
"Since you want to play the knight, you wouldn’t mind compensating for my medical fees, right?" Ray exclaimed loudly and pointed at his blood-stained pants.
"I–I..." William was startled and turned to Samantha.
In response, she lowered her head, essentially admitting that she was indeed at fault.
"Why did you scream if you were the one who injured him?" William was dumbfounded. He was initially planning on buying some bread to fill his empty tummy from the long journey until he heard a scream.
The cries reminded him of the tragedy he experienced back at Pallet Village.
Hence, he jumped in and instantly noticed Ray’s fancy clothes. His first impression was that another noble was throwing their weight around.
Little did he know that it was all a misunderstanding.
Money?
He was poor himself.
Where would he come up with enough money to compensate others?
"His face is scary..." Samantha suddenly said, not daring to look at Ray’s face.
Sure enough, William took a closer look at Ray and agreed with the statement.
His face was truly a punchable one, and it makes you automatically hate him.
"My face is scary?" Ray finally snapped and lifted his sleeves.
"I don’t give a damn what you think of my appearance, but my medical fees. Either you pay on her behalf, or you can scram. Just like you said, this is the heart of the empire, so don’t even think about escaping."
"..."
Samantha gazed at William, seemingly holding on to hopes that he would pay on her behalf.
She was dirt broke, and those textbooks she brought alone were the ones thrown out by the library.
Alas, her hopes were shattered when she saw his difficult expression.
