Chapter 474: Chapter 471: Shadow Assassination

That raised a question.

If the Wolf Demon just wanted its juniors to get some experience, it should have started a massacre by now, given the situation.

Although there were many Immortals present, they were definitely no match for the Wolf Demon.

Mo Qi refused to believe the Wolf Demon would actually follow the so-called rules of the duels.

Once the experts from the Hall of Envoys arrived, everything it had done would be for nothing.

So, there had to be a reason it hadn’t made a move, or rather, why it had only let the five young demons engage in these so-called duels from the very beginning.

The most likely possibility was that it was being restricted by someone or some rule, preventing it from acting personally.

In other words, the Wolf Demon was just bluffing. The duels, the wagers, the worries of all the Immortals—it was all meaningless.

No wonder the Wolf Demon had managed to restrain itself even after four of the five Little Demons had died. 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮

’So Bai Fa is this desperate to fight me because it wants to kill me and avenge its companions before the experts from the Hall of Envoys arrive!’

In that instant, Mo Qi figured out many things.

However, he didn’t plan on revealing any of this.

He decided to play along and deal with this wolf pup, Bai Fa, first.

"Alright, what’s the challenge?" Mo Qi asked, looking at Bai Fa.

Bai Fa suppressed the rage in its heart and said, "We’ll compete in Shadow Assassination."

Mo Qi: "???"

Shadow Assassination?

’What the hell kind of ability is that?’

As if sensing Mo Qi’s confusion, Bai Fa explained, "The so-called Shadow Assassination is about landing a fatal blow on a target without a sound or trace, whether the enemy is completely unguarded or actively trying to defend themselves."

"It places high demands on us both. It’s a test of comprehensive ability—very thorough and very fair. It’s no longer a one-sided contest of strength, defense, or speed."

Mo Qi rolled his eyes at this.

’Fair?’

’You’re a damn Shadow Wolf King, whose entire talent revolves around ambushes. You want to compete with a human like me in Shadow Assassination? Why don’t we just compete to see who has the purest human bloodline instead?’

"Fine, I’ll do it. Tell me the rules," Mo Qi said, not wanting to waste any more time on the matter.

Bai Fa was in a hurry, but in truth, Mo Qi was in an even bigger one.

How could he not see the subtle shift in the Immortals’ attitude toward him?

Four consecutive duels, four consecutive kills against geniuses of the Demon Race, and he had killed them all while fighting above his Realm.

How could such a terrifying ability not make people green with envy?

Especially the technique he used to shatter the Five-Finger Cage Heaven-locking Array. With his Vajra Realm Cultivation, without any external help, he had leaped across two Great Realms to unleash the destructive power of the Void Realm.

In any case, Mo Qi refused to believe that none of the Immortals were tempted.

Besides, no matter what, the Pig Emperor had collectively knocked them all up before, and he himself had taken the opportunity to extort them.

Even though the peanuts had helped the Immortals get rid of their internal injuries, who knew if some petty-minded Immortal would seek revenge later.

Mo Qi wasn’t about to gamble with his life, so he had no intention of staying in the Hall of Envoys. At the very least, he couldn’t remain in the West District with his current identity.

That meant he had to leave before those ten unknown experts arrived.

Bai Fa said, "It’s simple. We both conceal ourselves within this clearing. We find each other, and then we kill each other. Let death be the end of this duel!"

"Fine," Mo Qi nodded.

The moment the words left his mouth, Bai Fa slowly vanished right before his eyes, as if it had merged with the air itself, becoming indistinguishable from it.

Mo Qi instinctively released his Divine Sense, spreading it over the entire clearing, but he couldn’t find any trace of Bai Fa.

"A little interesting," Mo Qi commented with admiration.

’As expected of a Silver Moon Wolf, of the Shadow Wolf King clan. This concealment skill alone would be a headache for many people.’

’But a little trick like this won’t be enough to stop me, Mo Qi.’

’Concealment hides one’s form, aura, and Energy fluctuations, but it can’t hide the essence of life itself.’

Mo Qi possessed the Nine Transformations into Spirit Body. His understanding of life had long reached a height unattainable by ordinary people, and he was further supported by the Five Elements Tree.

Bai Fa could evade a search by Divine Sense, but it couldn’t escape his perception of it as a living being.

Mo Qi retracted his Divine Sense. With a brief moment of perception, he could clearly "see" a life form with a powerful aura a hundred meters behind him, moving at high speed and constantly changing direction as it approached.

’While he’s still disoriented, I’ll take his life!’

Having used its bloodline’s shadow talent, Bai Fa was extremely confident in its Body Technique.

’As long as he hasn’t become an Immortal, there’s no way he can detect my tracks.’

It had relied on this ability to successfully escape from Half-Immortal Realm experts on more than one occasion.

In its eyes, no matter how strong Mo Qi’s techniques were, they couldn’t possibly be stronger than a Demi-Immortal’s.

At this thought, Bai Fa instantly reverted to its true form: a giant wolf over two men tall, its body covered in silver-white fur, a crescent mark on its forehead, and its form impossibly graceful.

It leaped into the air, opened its massive, blood-red maw, and bit down toward the back of Mo Qi’s neck.

If this bite landed, Mo Qi’s entire head would be torn off.

Just as Bai Fa’s fangs were less than an inch from Mo Qi’s flesh, in that split second, Mo Qi shifted his feet, suddenly moving half a foot to the side and narrowly dodging the bite.

At the same time, Mo Qi shot out two fingers like lightning, reached into Bai Fa’s mouth, clamped onto its tongue, and yanked it out.

Before Bai Fa could even react, its vision blurred as it lunged at empty air.

It instinctively snapped its jaws shut and bit down hard.

CHOMP!

Blood splattered, and nearly half of a bloody tongue fell to the ground.

"AWOO! AWOO! AWOO!"

A miserable howl echoed across the island. Bai Fa’s expression was twisted in agony, tears welling up in its eyes.

Excruciating, heart-piercing pain shot from its mouth, violently jolting its nerves.

It was a pain so immense it felt like the back of its head was cramping.

An ordinary person would shudder violently and grimace in pain from accidentally biting their tongue, let alone biting nearly half of it clean off.

"Holy crap, did you have to bite down that hard?" Mo Qi sucked in a cold breath. He could feel a phantom chill on the tip of his own tongue; it hurt just to watch.

His original intention was just to make Bai Fa bite itself and suffer a little. He never expected the dumbass would bite it clean off.

"See? What goes around comes around. If you hadn’t tried to kill me just now, you wouldn’t have lost your tongue."

It took a long while for Bai Fa to recover from the agony of its severed tongue.

’I was actually tricked by this human!’

A sense of shame and fury welled up in its heart. Just as Bai Fa was about to say something, the Wolf Demon’s voice echoed in its ear.

"Now! Go kill that human girl first!"

WHOOSH!

The sky suddenly darkened. Mo Qi’s vision went black, and a dead silence filled his ears, as if something had covered his eyes, blocked his ears, and cut off all five of his senses.

It wasn’t just him; everyone else present was experiencing the same thing.

"The wolf pup has this ability too?" Mo Qi was surprised, but not panicked.

’Without my five senses, I still have my perception of life!’
