Chapter 473: Chapter 470: Qualification Token

At the edge of the clearing, Liu Ruyan and Niu Kexin held hands, watching Mo Qi face off against Bai Fa. They couldn’t bear to look away from him, not even for a moment.

Although Mo Qi had said his departure was temporary and that they might see each other again in as little as a year, the Demon Spirit Battlefield was vast. The ordeal there would last for fifty years, and the two women had a feeling that their reunion would be many years in the future.

So they cherished this moment, wanting to sear his face and his presence deep into their hearts.

Bai Fa gave Liu Ruyan a long look before turning his gaze away.

After Mo Qi, this human girl was the next target he had to hunt down and kill.

He had traveled across an immeasurable distance, teleporting here from the Demon Race’s main encampment, thinking it would be nothing more than a minor trial and a simple mission. He never imagined it would cost him the lives of his four brothers.

That was why he had to kill Mo Qi and Liu Ruyan, no matter the cost. He had to complete his mission. He couldn’t let the blood of Niu Tou, Da Peng, the Profound Turtle, and the Thunder Lion be shed in vain!

"Human. Just like last time, the duel and the wager are one and the same. I challenge you to a battle of..."

Before Bai Fa could finish, Mo Qi cut him off.

"The duel can wait. Would you mind if I took care of a couple of personal matters first? It won’t take long."

Without waiting for Bai Fa’s consent, Mo Qi turned and walked over to the group of Immortals from the Hall of Envoys.

Bai Fa stared, both dumbfounded and utterly speechless.

’Dude, we’re kind of on a tight schedule here!’

But he had no choice other than to wait.

"Esteemed elders, I’d like to ask you all for something," Mo Qi said, cupping his fists toward the Immortals with a disarmingly simple smile.

The Immortals were baffled, but their internal alarms were ringing.

’The duel was proceeding as planned. Why is he suddenly asking us for something?’

’They had been tricked by Mo Qi so many times they were practically traumatized. Heaven only knew what new scheme the boy was hatching.’

’Coupled with their own recent scheming, they all felt a little guilty, like thieves caught in the act.’

Finally, the Immortals exchanged glances, reaching a silent consensus.

The duel wasn’t over yet, and they still needed Mo Qi to win this final match.

Therefore, regardless of their own intentions, their priority right now was to remain composed and keep Mo Qi placated.

"What is it that you want?" one of the Immortals asked.

Mo Qi smiled. "Before I get to that, I’d like to ask you esteemed elders a question: am I qualified to enter the Demon Spirit Battlefield?"

The Immortals were once again bewildered.

They had expected him to ask about some unmentionable secret, not such a mundane question.

’Did he even need to ask?’

’If even you aren’t qualified to enter the Demon Spirit Battlefield, then who is?’

"Young friend Mo Qi, of course you’re qualified to enter the Demon Spirit Battlefield," the leading Immortal of the Long Yang Sub-Palace said with a smile.

"Yes, yes, of course you are."

"There’s no one more qualified than you."

"With your strength, you’re not just qualified to enter—you’re bound to achieve dazzling results."

"Indeed! When the time comes, our entire West District Sub-Palace will be proud of you."

The other Immortals all chimed in with words of agreement, but only they knew how sincere they truly were.

Mo Qi smiled, ignoring the Immortals’ flattery. He nodded and said, "Since you all think so highly of me, I’ll be direct. I want a Token of qualification for the Demon Spirit Battlefield."

Long before the Sub-Palace exchange had even started, Mo Qi had learned from the Feng Family’s ancestor that one needed a qualification Token to enter the Demon Spirit Battlefield.

After the Sub-Palace exchange, each Sub-Palace would hold a year-long internal selection process, and only the top ten thousand participants would earn the right to enter the Demon Spirit Battlefield.

Since Mo Qi had already decided to leave for a while, he had to get his hands on a qualification Token before he departed.

As soon as Mo Qi said this, the Immortals froze for a moment, then exchanged strange glances.

’So Mo Qi is trying to leverage this duel to bypass the internal selection process for all the Sub-Palaces and directly qualify for the Demon Spirit Battlefield!’

It was, in other words, a form of extortion—a threat.

This time, however, the Immortals didn’t find his request unreasonable.

’Because given the strength Mo Qi had displayed, the Sub-Palaces’ internal selections were a joke. Who could possibly stand in his way?’

’Never mind the top ten thousand of a single Sub-Palace; if Mo Qi wanted to be in the top ten thousand of all Sub-Palaces combined, he could do it with ease.’

’Besides, what did it matter if they gave him a qualification Token? Whether he would actually be able to attend—or even leave this island alive—was another question entirely.’

And so, with barely any discussion, the Immortals agreed to Mo Qi’s request.

"Young friend Mo Qi, take this qualification Token. Consider it a gift from our Five Elements Sub-Palace." The leader of the Five Elements Sub-Palace produced a palm-sized Token and tossed it to Mo Qi.

Mo Qi caught it and saw that it was a black metal plate inscribed with a single word: "Pass."

After the Chaos Scripture confirmed its authenticity, Mo Qi put the Token away with a satisfied nod.

’The last piece of my plan is in place,’ Mo Qi thought. ’Now I just have to take care of this wolf, and then I can make my escape.’

Mo Qi turned back around. Just as he was about to ask Bai Fa what kind of duel he had in mind, his eyes fell on Huangfu Yu in the distance.

’Hm? Leaving that guy alive could become a real problem in the future.’

With this in mind, Mo Qi called out in a loud voice, "Huangfu Yu! If I recall correctly, didn’t you say you wanted to fight me to the death after you got out of the Spirit Pool? What are you waiting for?"

Huangfu Yu’s face stiffened, his expression turning utterly mortified.

He had indeed said that, but did he dare fight Mo Qi now?

He didn’t.

No matter how much he hated Mo Qi, no matter how badly he wanted him dead, he lacked not only the strength to fight him but even the courage to try.

So, in the face of Mo Qi’s challenge, Huangfu Yu could only sit cross-legged within the Immortal Treasure Tower with his eyes shut, pretending he couldn’t hear.

"Hey, hey! Don’t play dead. I know you can hear me."

Mo Qi strode forward, about to rap his knuckles on the Treasure Tower Immortal Artifact, but Bai Fa moved to block his path.

"Human brat, stop wasting time! This fight is between you and me!"

Mo Qi stopped and studied Bai Fa up close. He could tell the demon’s energy was in turmoil; it was clearly both furious and impatient.

’The fury, Mo Qi could understand. But why the impatience? What was this Little Wolf Cub in such a rush for?’

Just then, the Pig Emperor’s voice echoed in Mo Qi’s mind.

"No fewer than ten powerful auras are approaching rapidly. Barring any surprises, they’ll be here in a few minutes."

Mo Qi was taken aback. "How strong are they?" he asked.

The Pig Emperor thought for a moment. "Not as strong as that Wolf Demon, but not far off."

Something clicked in Mo Qi’s mind, and he suddenly understood.

’So that was it!’

’No wonder this Little Wolf Cub was in such a rush. He must have sensed those ten powerful auras as well.’

’This was human territory, after all. The Wolf Demon had blockaded the island where the Sub-Palace exchange was being held for so long, cutting off all communication with the outside world. It was inevitable that this would attract the attention of the powerhouses from the Hall of Envoys.’

’Reinforcements were bound to arrive eventually.’
