Chapter 512: Chapter 509: Affection Two or Three Times
The head nurse’s voice immediately came from the doorway, "Get lost."
After that, no matter what Zhang Hao said, the head nurse just ignored him, and he eventually returned to his own room.
The Director of Surgery had already packed up his stuff, and Zhang Hao looked at his suitcase, which he had hardly opened.
He only threw his unwashed clothes into it and sat on the edge of the bed.
"The head nurse knows about it, but she still asked whether it was hospital leadership that asked us to go back."
The Director of Surgery also lay on his bed, fiddling with his phone while leaning against the headboard, "Honestly, we never take a break, and when we do, we’re still on call 24 hours."
"Actually, I think going out to learn is quite good. At the very least, after the learning is over, the remaining time can be spent without thinking about work."
"But after we return this time, who knows if we’ll be busy to the point of not touching the ground, so let’s really cherish tonight."
With the Director of Surgery’s words, Zhang Hao couldn’t help but think of the head nurse and the sneaky thing he did in his room just now.
No wonder he was in such a hurry to go back.
"But it’s only a little past eight now, and I usually don’t sleep until eleven. Am I supposed to just stay in this room for two or three hours?" Zhang Hao asked.
The Director of Surgery glanced at him, "Do you have any other plans or something?"
"No plans, better to go to sleep early here." Zhang Hao slid down in bed and curled up to sleep.
The Director of Surgery looked back at his phone, and when Zhang Hao woke up and opened his eyes, the room was pitch dark.
He fumbled for his phone and checked the time. It was already past one o’clock; he had slept for three to four hours.
However, waking up suddenly, he felt a bit hungry. After much hesitation, Zhang Hao got up, took his phone, and walked out of the room.
There was a supermarket outside the hotel, and Zhang Hao hurriedly went there and picked some instant food, as the supermarket provided hot water.
He decided to eat his fill there before going back up. While he was halfway through eating, he suddenly received a message from the Director of Surgery.
It was a simple three words followed by a question mark—Where are you?
Upon seeing the message, Zhang Hao quickly sent a location message to the Director of Surgery, "Woke up hungry and came down for a snack, wanna join?"
After sending the message, he set his phone aside and continued eating his noodles with his fork.
His phone vibrated—buzz, buzz, buzz. He picked it up and saw a response from the Director of Surgery: "Wait for me, I’ll be right there."
Ten minutes later, seeing the Director of Surgery come in his pajamas, Zhang Hao greeted him from his seat.
"I bought quite a bit, have some if you like."
The Director of Surgery glanced over and shook his head, "I’m not interested in these. I’ll find something myself."
Despite claiming no interest, after a while, the Director of Surgery also came over with a can of beer and instant noodles.
Zhang Hao looked at him and clicked his tongue twice, "What, now you’re being like the sparrow who doesn’t eat food offered to him?"
The Director of Surgery chuckled but didn’t say anything. He too got some hot water and started soaking his noodles.
"We had a good dinner tonight, so why are you suddenly hungry? Guess who I dreamt about while I was asleep?" the Director of Surgery said.
Zhang Hao quickly swallowed a mouthful of noodles and asked, "Who was it? It wouldn’t be the head nurse, would it? I’m telling you, before I fell asleep, when I went looking for the nurse..."
"Guess what she was doing in her room, her face all flushed with color. If you didn’t know any better, you might think she was video chatting with her husband."
The Director of Surgery leaned back, "For real? She always seems so cold and aloof to me."
"If I wasn’t familiar with her and knew she’s not that kind of person, I would have been totally deceived by her facade."
"She was also sneaking around in her room?"
Zhang Hao suddenly said seriously, "I never said that, and don’t you go telling the head nurse either. Besides, we’re all adults here. Isn’t it normal to have such thoughts?"
The Director of Surgery actually hadn’t said much, "Not to hide it from you, but I just dreamed about my wife."
"I dreamed about when we first met, back when your sister-in-law was very innocent."
"If I said anything even slightly risqué, she would blush. You have no idea how happy I was back then."
"But after we got married, I realized that things were beyond my control, and that your sister-in-law’s purity was all an act."
"Turns out she’s more playful than me, but it also brought me lots of surprises."
"Don’t look at us now, with kids and all, but we’re still very harmonious in that department."
"Last month, we were almost at it three or four times a week, if it weren’t for your sister-in-law’s period this time."
"I would have had to be tender with her two or three times before leaving, but since I’m returning tomorrow, I won’t have to pine anymore."
Zhang Hao hadn’t expected the Director of Surgery to talk about such matters so late at night.
"Director, it’s not right for you to tell me all this. These are private matters between you and my sister-in-law. If I, an outsider, were to accidentally spill the beans one day and spread the word, how would you face people?" Zhang Hao said.
"If you dare—if you really dare to let it slip, believe it or not, I’ll chop you into pieces with a scalpel. You may not be worth much, but your corneas, heart, lungs, kidneys, and liver are still worth quite a bit," threatened the Director of Surgery.
Upon hearing this, Zhang Hao hurriedly protected his own body, "Please don’t scare me, Director of Surgery."
The Director of Surgery gave a sly smile, "That will depend on how tight-lipped you are."
Both knew it was just a joke between them, no one would actually divulge such private matters.
After dinner, they returned to the hotel at a leisurely pace.
By the time they were asleep again, it was already three or four in the morning.
However, just when they were in deep sleep, they were woken up by the ringtone of a cell phone.
Zhang Hao picked up the phone, only to find that it was the head nurse calling him.
"What time are we heading back this morning?" the moment the call connected, the head nurse bombarded him with her question.
Zhang Hao hadn’t discussed the matter of returning with the Director of Surgery in detail.
But after some thought, there was no hurry, "Head nurse, we’re not in such a rush to head back, so there’s no need to get up so early."
"What do you mean by getting up early? Are you two not going to have breakfast? I’ve messaged you both, and neither of you replied. Are you starting to sleep in while out and about?"
Zhang Hao yawned and said, "Last night, the Director of Surgery and I woke up in the middle of the night and went out for a late-night snack, so I’m not hungry right now. We can skip breakfast."
The head nurse stomped her foot in anger upon hearing that they went out for a late-night snack without her the previous night.
"So you two went out for your own little feast, huh? How dare you not invite me, and here I was thinking about bringing you both breakfast."
"Since you two enjoyed your secretive meal, I don’t need to bring you anything. I’m hanging up," she said.
The head nurse hung up the phone quickly, and Zhang Hao, looking at the ended call, hurriedly placed his phone aside and continued to sleep beneath the covers.
But due to the phone call, his deliberate attempt to sleep was utterly ruined.
He tossed and turned in bed but couldn’t fall back asleep until eight or nine o’clock.
Only then did the Director of Surgery wake up, and upon waking, he began to check the return flight tickets.
