Chapter 476: Chapter 473: Activities of the Youth

Seeing his wife already siding with his mother, Zhang Hao really couldn’t complain fast enough.

He felt like neither heaven nor earth would respond to his pleas, wondering when his parents had become obstacles to his relationship.

However, they had indeed played that role at the beginning, but now things were heading in the opposite direction.

Or, more accurately, towards the direction he had hoped for, which somehow caused him some confusion.

Zhang Hao pulled He Qianhui aside and said, "You can’t just listen to my mom, you know. With how early I have to wake up and how late I work, if I don’t eat well, what if I break down one day? The main pillar of our home would collapse."

When He Qianhui heard Zhang Hao say this, she spoke in a soothing, low voice, "Alright, alright, I’ll make you hearty meals every day and make sure to fatten you up."

Their parents could naturally hear their conversation, with the father still maintaining a serious and unsmiling face.

On the other hand, the mother wore a smile of happiness, knowing that there’s nothing better than seeing her son happy.

The first night in their new home was naturally not going to be quiet.

The big layout of the whole house hadn’t changed, but it felt more spacious because they had knocked down several walls.

Especially the bed and mattress they bought, which Zhang Hao was very particular about.

Initially, He Qianhui thought an average bed would suffice, but under Zhang Hao’s insistence—

they ended up spending a five-figure sum on a bed, and at first, she didn’t see anything special about it.

Now, actually lying on this bed, He Qianhui realized how wise Zhang Hao’s decision was.

The soft mattress supported her whole body, and even with Zhang Hao on top of her, she didn’t feel uncomfortable at all.

It was much better than their previous bed, with He Qianhui’s arms wrapped around Zhang Hao’s neck.

She laughed and said, "Now I finally understand why you wanted this bed. I apologize for stopping you before. It seems this money was well spent."

Zhang Hao, propping himself up, said, "Of course, my vision is far-reaching, isn’t it? If we had really listened to you, I bet that bed would have fallen apart in less than three months."

He Qianhui felt that Zhang Hao was being a bit of an exaggerator. The previous bed, though not as expensive,

still cost a four-figure sum and was made of good wood. He was no Hulk with immense strength to shake a bed apart.

That night, Zhang Hao worked hard several times on the bed, thinking that they had the next day off as well.

A few more times wouldn’t hurt, until the next morning they both overslept.

When they woke up, it was already noon. He Qianhui sat up in bed and saw the time on the alarm clock. Had she not remembered it was the weekend and they didn’t have to work, she’d be freaking out.

She shook the sleeping Zhang Hao awake. He sprang up, his first action was to grab his phone to check the time.

"Damn, it’s already noon. This is bad, I’m late for work."

Seeing him in such a hurry, He Qianhui struggled to stifle a laugh, "Yeah, you’re late for work, there goes your bonus for the month."

Zhang Hao quickly picked up his pants from the floor and put them on, then rushed into the bathroom to wash his face and brush his teeth.

Once he was ready, he checked his phone again, only to see the date, and walked back to the bedroom, his hands bracing against the doorframe.

With a chagrined expression, he said defiantly, "Qianhui, I feel you should have reminded me that today is the weekend, not a workday."

He Qianhui, who had been holding back her laughter, now couldn’t contain herself anymore and burst out laughing. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂

"Look at you; reminding you that it’s the weekend now isn’t too late."

He Qianhui got up and opened the curtains to let the sunshine in from outside.

Zhang Hao hurried over and closed the curtains again, prompting a puzzled response from He Qianhui, "What’s the matter? Not drawing the curtains in broad daylight, what are you up to?"

Zhang Hao hinted with his eyes, "Could you put on some clothes before you open the curtains? Although we were passionate last night, I don’t want the people in the building across to see your beautiful, curvaceous body."

He Qianhui picked up a nightgown thrown on the sofa and put it on; that was all she wore, with nothing underneath.

"There, I’m all dressed now. Hurry up and open the curtains. I’ll tidy up today, and from now on, we’ll be living here."

As she spoke, someone knocked on the door. Zhang Hao, thinking it was a female neighbor, went to open the door cheerfully, not even bothering to look through the peephole.

But to his surprise, upon opening the door, he found a woman in her forties.

She had dark circles under her eyes, a clear sign of lack of sleep for a while.

Zhang Hao made an initial professional assessment out of habit.

"Are you new here?" the woman asked.

For Zhang Hao, he was indeed new to the place, but that might not necessarily be the case for He Qianhui.

However, this wasn’t the time for her to step in.

"Yes, we just moved in yesterday. Is there a problem?" Zhang Hao asked.

The woman looked grave. "I live below you. You disturbed my sleep last night. I have poor sleep; the slightest noise wakes me up."

"I hope you can keep it down at night from now on. We’re neighbors, after all. Let’s be considerate of each other," she said.

After saying her piece, the woman turned to leave, but Zhang Hao quickly stepped up. "Why don’t I take a look at you?"

An excessively quiet life is an unreasonable demand.

"I’ve just started living here; I don’t want to be tiptoeing around every day," Zhang Hao said.

The woman turned back to look at Zhang Hao, with a hint of anger flashing in her eyes.

In the end, Zhang Hao still invited the woman back to his place and took her pulse.

It was only then that he realized her condition was much more severe than he’d thought.

"When was the last time you had a check-up at the hospital, big sister?"

The woman, seeing Zhang Hao’s professional demeanor, answered truthfully, "About half a year ago. The diagnosis was neurasthenia."

"The treatment worked at first, but then I stopped wanting to take the medicine. Which hospital are you with?"

"I’m with Tong’an Hospital. My name is Zhang Hao. Have you heard of me?" Zhang Hao introduced himself.

The woman scrutinized Zhang Hao and suddenly beamed with joy, "What, you’re the youngest Traditional Chinese Medicine doctor?"

"I saw a report about you on TV before. I didn’t expect you to be living here."

He Qianhui brought over two cups of tea, not interfering with Zhang Hao’s matters.

"I’ve just moved here. I didn’t expect you to know me," Zhang Hao said.

Once the woman confirmed Zhang Hao’s identity, she began to talk about the discomforts she’d experienced recently.

Especially about how she often could not sleep for more than a few minutes all night while lying in bed.

She could only manage some sleep during the day when there was no noise from upstairs as people went to work.

The occasional sleepless night wasn’t a big deal, but in the long run, it was negatively draining on her body.

"Since you’re a Traditional Chinese Medicine doctor, can you take a look at me? Can my condition be adjusted?" The woman grasped at this seeming lifeline.

Zhang Hao already knew why she couldn’t sleep, and of course, he could prescribe the right treatment.

Zhang Hao nodded. "Come to the hospital and see me on Monday. I’ll write you a prescription, and you can get the herbs from the pharmacy. I guarantee you’ll be able to sleep within three days."

"Of course, you have to be understanding too. We’re a young couple, and it’s inevitable that there’ll be some activity at night. You can’t expect me to have no outlet, young as I am."
