Chapter 472: Chapter 469 Returning from Travel

After waiting outside the emergency room for quite a while, a nurse called out.

Zhang Hao saw the man rush over and ask the nurse, "It’s me, it’s me. How is he doing now?"

Contrasting the man’s anxious state, the nurse seemed much calmer.

"The patient is now out of danger, but he still needs to remain in the hospital for observation," the nurse said.

Upon hearing the words "out of danger," the man leaned against the wall and let out a long sigh of relief.

Zhang Hao walked over and patted his shoulder, "See, he’s alright, isn’t he? No need to worry anymore. Some people come to the plateau and seem fine, but once they do react, they turn out to be the most at risk. How many days were you planning to stay here?"

The incident had already thrown their self-drive tour plan into disarray.

"What’s there to stay for? As soon as he can be discharged, we’ll hurry back home. But, big brother, I still owe you my thanks. Without you, my buddy here might really have been left behind," the man said.

Zhang Hao chuckled, "Well, if there’s nothing else, I’ll head back first. You should hurry and give your friends a call to inform them, so they don’t worry."

The man nodded repeatedly and quickly took out his phone to make the call to his friends.

Zhang Hao had nothing more to worry about and drove straight to the hotel after leaving the hospital.

He Qianhui was waiting at the hotel and immediately asked him about how the person was doing.

"He’s out of danger. His friend is taking care of him at the hospital, no need to worry. It’s just a brief encounter, and you’re worrying so much," Zhang Hao retorted.

"Isn’t that human nature? Besides, you took him to the hospital; am I not allowed to be concerned from afar? After all, it’s a life at stake here," He Qianhui said.

Having stayed here for several days, they had mostly visited the places they wanted to go, although the weather had disrupted their plans for two days.

The couple had to spend those two days stuck in the hotel, which also saw Zhang Hao teasing He Qianhui relentlessly.

Just the matter of buying condoms alone had been done three times, until it was difficult for He Qianhui to even get out of bed.

Seeing that the vacation was nearly over, the two began packing their belongings, preparing to return home.

They had bought quite a few souvenirs, and their luggage was nearly overflowing, so Zhang Hao came up with a solution.

He decided to pack those things they couldn’t carry and send them all back by express delivery.

On the way back, they did not know where they might need to stop for a day or two.

Thus, they wanted to travel light, and indeed, they did make a few brief stops on their journey back.

By the time they safely arrived home, it still felt rather surreal.

Zhang Hao looked at the date and realized he had to go back to work at the hospital the day after tomorrow, while He Qianhui had to return to work tomorrow.

They hadn’t properly rested from their exhaustion yet, and their vacation had already come to an end.

The two curled up on the couch, with He Qianhui lying in Zhang Hao’s arms, "I have to work tomorrow, but I don’t want to go."

Zhang Hao soothed her by stroking her hair, "For our future happiness, you have to go."

He Qianhui pouted, trying her best to deal with her gloom, "I still wish I could be carefree, traveling around."

Just as Zhang Hao was about to say something, his phone received a notification with the code for package pickup.

He patted He Qianhui’s shoulder and said, "Our purchases have arrived. Come with me to pick them up, and we can also go buy some groceries. The fridge is empty."

She had just been complaining about not wanting to go to work tomorrow, but at the mention of her package arriving, she quickly got up.

After sweeping through the supermarket, they finally headed home.

Along the way, they bumped into acquaintances and took the time to chat for a bit.

Just then, they ran into the husband of the woman who lived across the hall.

The two families were acquainted through frequent interactions, and the man looked at Zhang Hao and asked, "Doctor Zhang, have you not been working recently, have you taken time off?"

Zhang Hao replied, "I took some annual leave and we went out for a couple of days; what’s up?"

The man laughed and said, "No wonder! My wife went to the hospital the other day wanting to get a check-up, but she heard from your colleague that you were not around recently."

"Plus these past days I didn’t notice you coming and going, I even thought you moved and changed hospitals, but fortunately, I ran into you today."

"Though taking some time to travel around with your loved one is good too, you’ve got to relax appropriately; can’t always be trapped here by work."

All three of them entered the elevator together, and the man, curious, looked at the two big bags in Zhang Hao’s hands and asked, "Are you planning a big meal for tonight?"

Zhang Hao shook his head, "Just picked up a delivery, bought some stuff for the fridge, and came back. I don’t really feel like cooking." 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞

"I’ll just call for some takeout and casually eat something before resting. I’m back to work the day after tomorrow, so if your wife needs a follow-up check-up, tell her to come then."

When the elevator reached their floor and the doors opened, the two men courteously gestured to each other, but Zhang Hao and He Qianhui were the first to step out of the elevator.

The man left the elevator last, went home, and promptly put the things he bought into the fridge.

He Qianhui, on the other hand, brought over a small chair and sat on the floor to start unpacking the deliveries.

Among the items were some they had sent themselves and others they had ordered previously.

It had been so long they had almost forgotten what they had ordered.

After putting things away in the fridge, Zhang Hao approached He Qianhui with his phone: "Let’s see what we feel like eating tonight."

They hadn’t skimped on ordering takeout over the past few days, but they also had their fill of the local cuisine.

"How about we just cook some noodles? I’m not very keen on takeout. I’ll handle it; you continue unpacking the deliveries."

He Qianhui got busy in the kitchen for quite a while before the noodles were finally ready, and a delicious scent wafted throughout the room.

Before smelling the aroma, Zhang Hao thought he wasn’t that hungry, but once he saw the colorful noodles served and placed on the table, his stomach immediately began to protest.

There were still several deliveries left unopened, but Zhang Hao couldn’t care less about that, sitting at the dining table ready to eat.

"Eat slowly; I’ll go get you a drink," she said.

It was just an ordinary bowl of egg noodles, yet Zhang Hao ate as if it were an imperial feast.

In the time it took to grab a drink, half a bowl of noodles were already gone.

He Qianhui looked at him and said, "There’s more in the pot."

Zhang Hao didn’t even pause to reply before he picked up his bowl and polished off the noodles and soup.

Watching him eat so voraciously, He Qianhui quickly dished out the remaining noodles from the pot into his bowl.

Looking at his second bowl, Zhang Hao patted his stomach and said, "Your noodles taste the best. Next time, even if my leg is broken, I definitely won’t order takeout."

He Qianhui laughed as she ate her own bowl, "That won’t do; I get tired too. It’s just that today I didn’t want takeout. If you want noodles in the future, you can cook them yourself."

Zhang Hao’s eyes twinkled as he joked, "Wife, I just love the noodles you ’fix’; mine don’t taste good if I do it myself."

He Qianhui didn’t pursue whether there was another meaning behind his words.

She was merely a bit lost in thought while eating her noodles.

Until they rested for the night, neither of them entertained any other thoughts.
