Chapter 458: Chapter 455 The Package Disappeared

Zhang Hao looked at the prices on the menu and found them to be quite favorable here.

With a pen in hand, he quickly checked off the items.

Both could handle spicy food, so they chose a spicy beef tallow hot pot base.

Just as he was about to hand the menu to the waiter to make arrangements,

He Qianhui held down Zhang Hao’s hand, leaned forward slightly to close the distance between them.

"Be careful eating such a spicy base, or you may have a painful bum tomorrow."

Zhang Hao remembered the painful ordeal of using the bathroom the day after eating a spicy hot pot with his colleagues.

Having had those experiences, Zhang Hao took He Qianhui’s advice and switched to a mild spicy base!

If it’s not spicy enough, they could always add more, but if it’s too spicy and they can’t eat it, that would be a waste.

The atmosphere in the restaurant was great, with He Qianhui picking up a bottle of milk and two drinks on her own.

They each drank half a bottle of milk to prevent stomach discomfort during the meal.

With so many customers in the restaurant, Zhang Hao thought the service would be slow.

But after waiting around ten minutes, the waiter came over with a cart full of dishes.

The dishes were piled one on top of the other; they had ordered all their favorites.

When choosing, He Qianhui didn’t think it was much, but now that the dishes were served, she realized it might be a bit too much.

Both of them were the type to have eyes bigger than their stomachs; it would be good if they could even eat a few bites of each dish.

Zhang Hao busily started cooking the food, while He Qianhui found the restaurant’s popular photo spot to take pictures.

It wasn’t every day they came here, so they had to leave a souvenir.

But a selfie could only capture her upper body, and she had worn a new outfit especially for today.

She was just about to call Zhang Hao over to take a full-body shot of her,

but she felt it was inappropriate to shout loudly in the restaurant.

While she was hesitating, a handsome young man nearby stood up.

"Miss, do you want a photo? I can help you with that."

He Qianhui was a bit flattered and after hesitating, she passed her phone over to him.

"Thank you so much."

The young man took a few steps back with the phone to get the entire figure of He Qianhui in the frame.

He also considerately suggested she adjust her position and even offered to help with her pose.

And He was hands-on with his help.

He Qianhui already had a good figure, and her outfit for the day was the kind that accentuated her curves.

Her arms, as white as lotus stems, were raised over her head at the young man’s prompting.

This pose made He Qianhui feel a bit odd; she just wanted a simple full-body photo, there was no need for it to be so complicated.

As her patience gradually wore thin, she was about to say she didn’t need the photo anymore when she saw Zhang Hao walking over.

He came right up to her, wrapped one arm around her waist, and the two of them were nearly pressed together.

The young man’s expression froze at first upon seeing this.

Then he squeezed out a smile that was uglier than crying.

"Beauty, is this your boyfriend?"

He Qianhui nodded, "Yes, could you take a photo of the two of us? Thank you."

He Qianhui intentionally emphasized the word "us", and after Zhang Hao came over, his pose was very casual.

He simply wrapped his arm around her waist without striking any particularly cool pose.

And the young man didn’t ask Zhang Hao to change his pose, he snapped a few photos and returned the phone to He Qianhui.

He Qianhui looked at them and said, "Thanks, they look great, I really like them."

The young man’s lips twitched twice but he didn’t say anything more and went back to his table.

Zhang Hao, with his arm still around He Qianhui’s waist, walked to their table.

As they passed by the young man, Zhang Hao said in a calm voice.

"Why didn’t you ask me to take the picture? After all, I’m your boyfriend, and we’re about to get married."

He Qianhui explained, without catching the implication in his words, "I wanted to find you, but I was afraid that calling out would disturb the other customers. The guy just now offered to help of his own accord."

Upon hearing this, Zhang Hao’s grip involuntarily tightened, and He Qianhui could feel the strength of his hand.

With a playful smile, she said, "Look at you, getting jealous again, aren’t you?"

Zhang Hao didn’t say anything, but the unrelenting firmness of his hand was proof enough that he was indeed jealous.

Back at the dining table, the broth was already boiling, but Zhang Hao had not yet put in the quickly cooked ingredients.

The ingredients that required longer cooking were just about done.

"Come on, eat up, it’s ready."

Zhang Hao placed fully half of the contents of the pot into her bowl, and He Qianhui didn’t hold back.

Seeing He Qianhui eat happily, Zhang Hao felt that coming out this time was worth it.

After finishing the meal, the two were ready to leave the hot pot restaurant.

As they were leaving, someone called out to them.

Zhang Hao turned around and saw the one calling them was the guy who had taken their photo earlier.

Unsure of what he wanted, Zhang Hao instinctively shielded He Qianhui behind him.

No matter what he intended, he wasn’t going to let him get close to Xiaohui again.

"What is it?"

"Did you see my bag by any chance? It seems to be missing."

"No, I didn’t see it."

The guy continued, "It must have been when I was taking your picture. I put my bag on the stool."

"After I finished taking your photo, my bag disappeared. Are you sure you didn’t see it?"

With that said, the other customers all turned their gazes to Zhang Hao.

"Instead of asking me, you’d be better off asking the owner of the hot pot restaurant to check the surveillance for you, there’s a camera right next to that seat of yours."

The guy suddenly grabbed Zhang Hao’s arm, pleading.

"Bro, I just took a photo for you. I’m also a student, and that bag had my tuition and living expenses for the next semester. If you’ve seen it, please tell me."

Unable to shake the guy off, He Qianhui realized this guy was deliberately looking for trouble.

"Waiter, get your boss over here."

The owner of this kind of establishment is usually around, and sure enough, the boss quickly came over.

After understanding the situation, he immediately led them to the cashier to check the surveillance footage.

After reviewing the footage, it was clear that someone indeed had taken the guy’s bag.

But it wasn’t Zhang Hao. Cleared of suspicion, Zhang Hao prepared to leave with He Qianhui.

When you’re out, it’s common for unexpected things of varying degrees to happen, and Zhang Hao was able to accept that.

But seeing the guy’s frantic state, Zhang Hao, out of kindness as someone who had been through such situations, reminded him.

These kind of incidents are never wished for, but while it hasn’t been long yet, you should still report it to the police quickly.

Maybe you can recover some of the tuition and living expenses, so it’s not all squandered by the thief.

After saying his piece, Zhang Hao escorted He Qianhui to the car, but the guy wasn’t feeling satisfied.

If it weren’t for taking a photo for He Qianhui, his bag wouldn’t have left his line of sight.

Just as Zhang Hao was about to reach the car, and He Qianhui was about to open the door to get in, the guy chased after them like a madman.

"No, you can’t leave. You have to take responsibility for this."

He Qianhui, looking baffled, said to the guy, "What responsibility do we have?"

The guy said, "It was because I was taking your picture that I didn’t notice the thief, so you’re partly responsible. I’m going to call the police right now."

He Qianhui felt the guy was being unreasonable.

And from the surveillance footage, it wasn’t hard to see that it was the guy who had volunteered to help.

If any responsibility lay with them out of humanitarian concern, it was up to the police to decide, not him.
