Chapter 443: Chapter 440: The Best Preparation

But the situation was different now; neither of them had gone to the civil affairs bureau to get the little red book yet.

So, before getting her own little red book, He Qianhui really didn’t want her belly to swell.

"Then marry me, and after we’re married, I’ll let you have two kids in three years."

Zhang Hao squinted his eyes, his smile becoming even more evident on his face.

"Really? Just get married and you’ll let me have two in three years?"

"Lying to you would make me a puppy, now let go of me, I need to shower."

In the struggle, Zhang Hao still let her go, urging her to hurry and get clean.

Once in the bathroom, standing in front of the mirror, Qianhui stopped and looked at her still graceful figure.

If she truly had children with Zhang Hao one day, she feared her figure would no longer be as perfect as it was now.

However, that’s something every woman has to experience.

As she thought about it, an image of a family of three, or perhaps four, going out on weekends with their children for a stroll, came to her mind.

Zhang Hao was a decent man and would be a good father in the future.

After a quick shower, He Qianhui actually felt a bit hungry, seeming to have expended quite a bit of energy that evening.

In the bedroom.

Zhang Hao had been waiting for He Qianhui to return, faintly hearing some noise outside, he got up to open the door to see what was going on.

What could not wait until tomorrow.

Upon opening the door, he saw He Qianhui eating at the dining table!

"Got hungry?"

Qianhui nodded, "I suddenly felt a bit hungry just now, so I cooked some noodles. Do you want some?"

Seeing that the noodles didn’t look bad, Zhang Hao hesitated for a moment, then pulled out a chair next to Qianhui and sat down.

At that moment, the woman living across the hall had finally waited for her husband to come home.

The last time they were face to face was several months ago.

"Come here, give me a hug." The man smiled and opened his arms.

"Husband, I missed you. Can we... this time?"

The woman’s words weren’t finished when the man interrupted her.

"This time I’m not leaving. I’ve already reported to the boss; I’m just going to earn less this way."

Initially, in order to provide a better life for his wife and future children, he had agreed to his company’s terms and took a job abroad alone.

And the company fulfilled its promise, providing him with a salary, bonuses, and allowances that made his hands full while working overseas.

"Husband, didn’t you say you would come back after two years? Why are you back early, don’t you trust me?"

The man released his embrace and lifted his wife up into his arms.

"Yes, you’ve been at home alone all year round, so this time I chose to come back and be with you."

As he spoke, the man walked towards the bedroom.

"Husband, tell me the truth, why did you suddenly come back this time?"

After his wife’s persistent questioning, the man finally disclosed the reason for his return.

At his workplace, there was a colleague a few years his senior with a slightly longer service time.

Both coming from the same place, it was inevitable that they would get along well.

Everything seemed normal at first, but then he noticed that this ’big brother’ had not been doing well recently.

Several times he nearly had accidents at work.

After a heavy drinking session, he finally found out what was going on.

Due to constantly working away and neglecting his family, his wife at home had initially been able to persevere.

But as the years wore on, she couldn’t stand the lonely nights any longer.

Considering that they didn’t have children, she decided to divorce.

The divorce papers were mailed from home along with a letter, which was a helpless move on the woman’s part.

The two were in a relationship of free love, not of settling for one another—if not for that bit of love, the divorce papers would probably have already been delivered.

The letter clearly stated the woman’s resolve—the house had been bought by the man, which she didn’t want.

Over the years, the money the man sent home was spent a little on purchasing things for his parents, but the rest remained in the card. She didn’t want any of it.

If under these conditions the man still didn’t want to sign, she was ready to throw caution to the wind and publicly show up with that man, abandoning all concerns about reputation.

Understanding the woman’s thoughts and determination, the man didn’t hold on and signed.

But just like that, a good home was gone.

Looking at the nearly seven-figure savings in the account, the man was also generous and transferred half into the woman’s card.

It could be considered a compensation for their years together.

It was witnessing his colleague’s experience that made Qianhui’s neighbor’s husband decide to come home early.

Otherwise, he too would eventually face such a situation, which he didn’t want.

The two entered the bedroom, where Qianhui felt her heart pounding fervently. They say absence makes the heart grow fonder, and the saying couldn’t be truer.

"Do you want to take a shower first? You didn’t even give me a heads-up before coming back, I didn’t get the chance to prepare."

He touched his wife’s cheek and said in a low, magnetic voice, "Don’t worry, you are the best preparation I could have."

Qianhui tilted her head and giggled, and the next second he had kissed her.

This piece of land, long parched, finally received its much-awaited rain tonight.

Because Zhang Hao overate the night before, he woke up in the morning and went straight to the bathroom for a big one.

He hadn’t even gotten up yet when he heard He Qianhui knocking on the bathroom door.

"Are you in there?" He Qianhui asked softly.

"Almost done, you can come in if you don’t mind."

He Qianhui pushed the door open and covered her nose, "Hurry up."

Hearing the urgency in her tone, Zhang Hao quickly took care of business and flushed twice.

He even took out his cologne and sprayed it twice in the bathroom, making sure there was no other smell, before opening the door.

He Qianhui hurried in and locked the bathroom door behind her.

Zhang Hao looked at the table where dishes from the night before were still not put away; he wasn’t in a rush to wash up as there was plenty of time.

In fact, the two of them could leisurely go downstairs for breakfast later on.

After cleaning up the dishes, He Qianhui came out, continually rubbing her stomach.

"Had I known, I would’ve stayed hungry last night and not eaten so much."

Having said that, He Qianhui stepped onto the scale only for the numbers to fluctuate wildly.

They finally settled on a fairly accurate figure.

He Qianhui frowned and looked at Zhang Hao standing in the distance.

Seeing that she wasn’t speaking, Zhang Hao knew that the weight must have exceeded her expectations.

Trying to comfort her from an onlooker’s perspective, he said, "No worries, a woman looks good with a bit of extra weight."

He Qianhui was not pleased, "What do you mean ’looks good with a bit of extra weight’? Starting tonight, I’m not eating dinner anymore."

"I’m warning you, don’t be a stumbling block on my journey to lose weight."

With He Qianhui’s warning, Zhang Hao’s plan to buy two prime cut steaks for dinner that night was instantly discarded.

"Let’s see how much you weigh now."

As Zhang Hao approached, He Qianhui quickly blocked him.

She only moved aside when the number on the scale had disappeared.

Seeing that the number was gone and not knowing the actual weight, there was another method—while He Qianhui was still smug, Zhang Hao picked her up.

He gauged her weight as if weighing an object, relying on his intuition to feel whether she was light or heavy.

"See, it’s all good. I can still carry you."
