Chapter 418: Chapter 415 It’s Not the First Time

The brides were all helping out in the kitchen while others were sitting on the sofa in the east room, cracking sunflower seeds and chatting away.

No one cared about the bustling heat of the kitchen.

He Qianhui spoke, pulling on Zhang Hao’s arm, "How about we just forget it? We’ll see it on the wedding day."

Zhang Hao didn’t understand why He Qianhui would choose this moment to back out.

But he respected her wishes anyway.

"Then we’ll wait until our wedding day to see it. I haven’t really been around this place much before, and even if I had, I’ve almost forgotten everything over such a long time."

"I’m free today, so how about I give you a tour around?" With that, Qianhui immediately perked up with interest.

After all, this was Zhang Hao’s hometown, even if he didn’t grow up here.

But he was inherently connected to this place.

Having the chance to see his hometown this time might offer her a deeper understanding of him.

But just after they set out, Qianhui suddenly changed her mind.

Seeing this, Zhang Hao quickly asked, "What happened? You were so happy just now, how did you become so downcast in the blink of an eye?"

Qianhui said with a laugh, "You suddenly wanted to show me around, do you have an ulterior motive? Tell me now, and don’t hide anything."

Zhang Hao waved his hands again and again, "Not at all? I genuinely wanted to take you for a stroll nearby."

"After all, such beautiful scenery can’t be found in the noisy city."

Behind the village was a hill. Zhang Hao remembered that as a child, whenever he was bored, he would call a few friends and go up the hill to look for wild fruits to eat.

However, that period wasn’t long. Once his parents settled down in the city, he was forced to leave this small place.

As time passed, his childhood memories became increasingly vague, retaining only the happiest moments.

He wondered if that hill had changed after so many years.

Whether the vegetation on the hill had become more lush or had thinned out.

Walking the childhood path, Zhang Hao pointed at the crops on both sides.

"Back then, I thought these crops were so high that even if I jumped, I couldn’t see over them."

"Now, standing here like this, I find they no longer block my view." 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂

Qianhui looped her arm through Zhang Hao’s, resting her head gently on his shoulder.

"That’s because you’ve grown up and gotten taller, so they can’t block you anymore. Is that the hill you mentioned over there?"

Qianhui pointed, and Zhang Hao nodded in the direction her finger was pointing, right there.

As a child, reaching the foot of the hill would take about an hour.

Now, with quicker steps and a longer stride, they got there in just twenty minutes.

The mountain that once seemed insurmountable, now appeared to be just a small hillock.

But it didn’t look too different from what he remembered.

"What did you bring me here for?" Qianhui asked.

Listening to her playful tone, Zhang Hao too wanted to tease her a bit.

He swept his arm around, gazing upon the dense grass and trees.

"Of course, I brought you here to relax. You don’t really think I had no intention at all, do you?"

Upon hearing this, Qianhui raised her hand and smacked Zhang Hao on the butt, hard. Luckily there was no one around. Otherwise, she might have been embarrassed if someone saw them.

"I knew you were up to no good. It’s a good thing no one’s here, otherwise, I’d go back right now."

Zhang Hao turned and looked back the way they had come, saying smugly, "Now try walking back and see if you still remember the way."

Qianhui turned to look, her gaze following the winding countryside path, as she placed her hands on her hips.

"You really think I wouldn’t be able to find my way out? My memory is very good; you shouldn’t picture me as some dumb and ditsy woman," Qianhui said.

"Besides, even if I didn’t recognize the way, I could always ask someone if I ran into them," she added.

Zhang Hao looked her up and down, unable to hold back.

"When did you become so clever? I’m starting to see you in a whole new light," he said.

He Qianhui glanced at him and said, "You should have seen me in that light a long time ago, not just starting now."

"Then I’m curious, if you really got lost in this village, how would you go about asking to find my house?" asked Zhang Hao.

He Qianhui thought for a moment and said, "I’m guessing there aren’t many celebrations in this village, and even if there are, they wouldn’t all be clustered together."

"At most, there would be two or three houses. If I search from house to house, I would eventually find it, wouldn’t I? You see, I am pretty clever, right?"

Zhang Hao was just about to praise her intelligence when he heard voices not far away.

Not knowing who it was, he quickly grabbed He Qianhui’s hand and pulled her aside to hide.

The two had just concealed themselves when they saw a woman, about thirty years old,

fussing with her clothes while looking around.

A man with his shirt off was following behind her.

"Goodness, it’s not like it’s the first time; what are you afraid of?" he said.

"Could we be so unlucky today to encounter someone else stirring up trouble over here?"

The woman, looking embarrassed, said, "I just feel nervous; you know my husband is hardly ever at home."

"Before he comes back each time, it’s like I have a sixth sense. Don’t come looking for me these next few days."

"If he finds out, he’ll surely kick me out of the house."

The man, unconcerned, replied, "What’s there to be afraid of? If he really kicks you out, come to me. There’ll be meat to eat, and you won’t lack for soup either."

"Besides, our relationship has gone on this long; I can’t really let you just survive on soup alone."

The woman, having straightened her clothes, kept nudging the man in the chest with her elbow.

"Forget it; if I didn’t find you.. useful, do you think I would bother with you?" she said.

"With your looks, only a fool would go after you. I’m heading back first; you follow in twenty minutes."

After the woman briskly left, the man found a spot to sit.

He appeared unsatisfied, his face marked with frustration.

"Stupid woman, acting all high and mighty with me, forgetting how eagerly she split her legs and begged me to go harder," the man cursed to himself.

Overhearing the man’s curses, Zhang Hao couldn’t help but glance at He Qianhui.

He said with a smirk, "See, I told you, a man being well-endowed is definitely advantageous; you women can’t stay away."

He Qianhui, mimicking the other woman’s actions, jabbed Zhang Hao in the chest with her elbow.

"Can you just shut up? If you can’t, I’ll sew your mouth shut with needle and thread," she threatened.

Zhang Hao quickly shut his mouth, but he wrapped his arms around He Qianhui’s waist, soft as if boneless.

No wonder she always liked to ride on top of him in bed; every time she twisted her little waist, Zhang Hao couldn’t handle it.

Maybe it was because the sun overhead was too scorching, but the shirtless man could only stay seated on the rock for a short while before he couldn’t stand it anymore.

He kept fanning himself with his hand, then got up and left.

Watching the man walk away, Zhang Hao finally pulled He Qianhui from behind the rock.

"I was planning to bring you here for a little release, but now it looks like someone beat us to it," he said.

He Qianhui shaded her eyes with her hand to block the glare of the sun, "Even if there was no one here, don’t you even think about touching me."
