Chapter 417: Chapter 414: The New Bride
Rushing out in a hurry, naturally, she could not pay much attention to other things.
Her thin top was no match for the size of her upper body.
The man’s lecherous intent was relentless, his gaze kept darting toward that area on He Qianhui.
Once Zhang Hao realized this, he immediately stood in front of He Qianhui.
"If you want to see mine, I’ve got one too,"
Zhang Hao said, and was about to lift his own shirt up.
The man chuckled, "Little brother, pretend I’m ignorant, but your wife’s got some solid assets, they’re almost as big as the kid’s play balls."
Zhang Hao faced the man’s teasing with a cold expression, seemingly even the man knew his comment was inappropriate.
Just then, the owner of the courtyard returned, saving him.
"San Lengzi, what are you doing here?"
Upon hearing the call, San Lengzi hurried over.
"I’m here to borrow a hoe; I need to weed the fields tomorrow. Mine doesn’t work well, so I want to borrow yours for a day."
At that moment, Zhang Hao couldn’t care less about what others said or did; instead, he directly pulled He Qianhui into the car.
"Didn’t Auntie say we should stick it out here for two days? Where are you taking me?"
"Stick it out, my ass. If they want to endure, let them. I can’t sleep in a place like this, so buckle up."
After Zhang Hao’s reminder, He Qianhui hurriedly fastened her seatbelt.
She suddenly felt that Zhang Hao was quite reliable.
What surprised He Qianhui the most was that Zhang Hao could actually argue against Auntie’s decision.
Although she didn’t know how he negotiated with Auntie.
But being able to drive away from the village unhindered at this time proved that Auntie must have agreed.
Arriving at the town’s hotel, although it wasn’t as luxurious as those in big cities,
it was at least much better than the village environment.
"Go take a bath first; I’ll go buy something to eat. What do you want?"
He Qianhui thought for a moment, "I don’t have much of an appetite right now; you decide."
Zhang Hao nodded and again instructed her to lock the door and close the windows before he returned.
After all, he had the room card, so there was no need for her to come and open the door.
In the bathroom, although the shower facilities were basic, they were much better than the bathing area.
Turning on the tap, warm water flowed from the showerhead.
And there was shower gel here, though she didn’t know the brand, but it was usable.
Zhang Hao wandered left and right on the streets, but at this time, most of the shops were already closed.
He walked a long way before finding one that was still open, packed two servings of fried rice, bought some other foods, and then headed back full-handed.
When he returned, He Qianhui had already finished bathing.
Zhang Hao placed the items on the table and then plunged into the bathroom himself, letting the hot water wash all the day’s fatigue away.
He Qianhui opened the bag and saw, besides the fried rice, there was also some braised food.
Suddenly, she felt an appetite; she hadn’t eaten much for dinner, partly because the taste didn’t suit her.
Secondly, the food lacked color, aroma, and flavor, making it hard to swallow.
The only dish that was edible was a plate of stir-fried greens, but while picking up the vegetables, she unexpectedly discovered a big white caterpillar lying in the soup.
The moment she saw the big caterpillar, He Qianhui couldn’t help but feel nauseous.
But she still comforted herself inwardly, thankful it was whole; half a caterpillar would have been even more horrifying.
Zhang Hao noticed that He Qianhui had lost her appetite at the time, but he didn’t see the big caterpillar.
Otherwise, he likely would have lost his appetite as well.
Zhang Hao came out after his shower, bare-chested, with a towel wrapped around his waist.
He Qianhui couldn’t help but laugh, "Can’t you put on your clothes properly after you shower?"
Zhang Hao stood in front of her and turned around on the spot.
"Am I obstructing your view right now?"
He Qianhui shook her head helplessly, thinking what was all this about?
"Does your aunt know we moved out?"
"She knows, she wouldn’t let me move out at first, but eventually she couldn’t win the argument against me and let me do as I wished, so that’s that."
"Then I definitely had to move out. Who would want to live there anyhow? Besides, even if you could endure it, I couldn’t."
"I never went through that kind of hardship when I was young, so why should I start reminiscing about hard times now that I’m grown up?"
Although Zhang Hao spoke lightly at that moment, He Qianhui knew things definitely weren’t that easy.
She was afraid that after returning this time, she would need to apologize properly to her aunt and uncle.
"Hurry and eat something, we came out too late, all the shops on the street are already closed. Let’s just make do with what we have, and we’ll head out earlier tomorrow," urged Zhang Hao.
Somehow, He Qianhui had suddenly come to feel that as long as Zhang Hao was by her side, she didn’t have to worry about anything else.
"Okay, I’ll eat now. I’m starving to death."
Because they had to get up early the next morning to go back, the two of them didn’t do anything inappropriate for children in the room.
They went straight to sleep after eating, and only got up unwillingly when the alarm rang.
After freshening up, they drove back to the village.
The village looked quite alright in the daytime. It had a strong rustic charm, but at night, it felt as though danger lurked all around.
However, as soon as He Qianhui got out of the car, she noticed people occasionally stealing glances at her.
At first, she thought she was drawing attention because her attire was different from the locals.
Yet the aunt who came with her was also dressed differently from the people here, but she didn’t attract as many stares.
This just made He Qianhui more suspicious.
She could only stick close to Zhang Hao’s side.
She was utterly unfamiliar with the place and couldn’t tell who was who.
Zhang Hao noticed her daydreaming and whispered, "If you really find it boring here, you could play some games to kill the time."
He Qianhui didn’t want to play games just because she felt it would be somewhat disrespectful to the others.
The woman who had told her to cook the previous day was currently busy in the kitchen.
The kitchen was steaming hot, and He Qianhui wondered how she managed to keep on going.
Compared to them, He Qianhui suddenly felt that her life was too blessed.
She resolved never to complain again about not having air conditioning in the kitchen.
"We have been here for quite a while, and we haven’t seen the bride yet. Where is she? Could you take me to see her?"
This question stumped Zhang Hao, as he had just followed his parents to join in the festivities.
As for what the bride looked like or where she was now, he really had no idea.
Finding his mother, who luckily knew who was getting married this time.
After chatting with the relatives, they went to see the bride.
He Qianhui had imagined that the bride would be exceedingly busy these days.
At the very least, she was supposed to stay within the confines of her home, not stepping out of the door.
Or maybe she would be at home, trying on the two wedding dresses she would wear on her big day.
But when Zhang Hao and He Qianhui arrived, they found that the bride was actually busy in the kitchen as well, it seemed she received no special treatment at all.
