Chapter 404: Chapter 401 Insufficient Care
"Okay, I can agree to that," He Qianhui said.
The man hadn’t expected He Qianhui’s response to be so straightforward.
"Miss He, you should think this over carefully. Right now, you’re the favorite at the company."
"The company is supporting you in all aspects, but if one day you make a mistake, they won’t be so forgiving."
Seeing him say this, He Qianhui suddenly felt that this man might have a bit of a problem with his thinking.
But she still maintained the necessary professionalism.
"I think the company will let me stay there for at least three years because of this cooperation, no matter what."
"As for what happens after three years, we’ll cross that bridge when we come to it."
The driver bought shoes and then clothes. The style of the shoes was very ordinary, nothing impressive.
But it wasn’t too striking either. As for the clothes he bought, it was just a very common floral dress.
It was the kind that He Qianhui would never give a second glance at if it were on the shelf, but coincidentally, although it was plain, it was exceptionally comfortable when worn.
Even He Qianhui was curious; the driver actually had a knack for picking out clothes.
After the two left the teahouse, He Qianhui stepped into the high heels and got back into the car once more.
Having become acquainted with the routine, He Qianhui thanked the driver for running this errand.
She even suggested to the man to give the driver a bonus, even if just a modest red envelope.
It would be a way to praise him for handling matters so well.
Whether or not they really gave him a bonus, He Qianhui couldn’t control.
After getting out of the car and returning to the hotel, He Qianhui lay on the bed, reflecting on everything that had happened that day.
She always felt there was something slightly out of the ordinary about it.
But she couldn’t find a suitable reason to explain it.
She brooded until past eight in the evening before she called Zhang Hao.
On the other end, Zhang Hao picked up the phone, thinking she might have encountered some trouble being on her own.
He was about to get indignant when he heard her say that the cooperation went exceptionally smoothly.
Moreover, it seemed like that boss had taken a liking to her.
When he heard the first part of her words, Zhang Hao didn’t feel anything was amiss.
Smooth business dealings are naturally a primary goal, but the second half of her statement put him on alert.
What does it mean that he took a liking to her? Didn’t that CEO know that she was already spoken for?
On the phone, He Qianhui deliberately said, "I only told him I have a boyfriend; I didn’t mention that we’ve reached the point of discussing marriage."
"Maybe he thinks I might abandon you for a life of wealth."
"You know, being pampered by such an influential boss really is somewhat tempting."
Upon hearing this, Zhang Hao gave a cold laugh over the phone.
"Since you put it that way, there’s nothing I can do. It seems I haven’t been taking good enough care of you lately."
"When you return, I’ll let you experience what real care is."
Even though Zhang Hao didn’t overstep the bounds, He Qianhui felt a little scare.
"Hey, I was just kidding with you. Don’t take it so seriously," she said.
"Besides, I’m going to sign the contract tomorrow, and I might even be able to come back in the afternoon. You’ve got to come to the airport to pick me up, you know."
From He Qianhui’s tone, it wasn’t hard to hear that she was looking to make amends.
Zhang Hao feigned seriousness, "You want me to pick you up? I’ll have to see if I have the time."
"If I’m not free, I’m afraid I won’t be able to make it. Wait for my call tomorrow. Also, it’s getting late today, I should—"
"Hao, don’t make an excuse if you’re not going to go through with it. You’d better quit while you’re ahead," He Qianhui warned.
Zhang Hao was just pretending, and now that she had called him out, he couldn’t help but burst into laughter.
"You’re not showing the right attitude for an apology. Fine, I promise I’ll be at the airport before your plane lands."
"It’s late, and you’ve been through a lot today, dealing with those sly old foxes. You must be exhausted. Take a bath and get some rest early, and try to dream of me."
"I have to dream about you too? Now you’re being really overbearing," He Qianhui complained.
The two exchanged pleasantries over the phone before finally hanging up.
Zhang Hao wasn’t worried that He Qianhui would change her heart just because of his clients.
If she were that fickle, he wouldn’t have gotten so close to her in the first place.
He was even willing to have a falling out with his parents just to marry her.
Just thinking that the woman he loved might return tomorrow,
Zhang Hao couldn’t suppress the joy in his heart; he jumped off the bed and started tidying up his messy home from the past few days.
He threw all his dirty clothes into the washing machine in one go.
He busied himself until after eleven at night before finally calling it a day.
Since he was going to the airport to pick her up tomorrow, flowers were naturally a must.
If he waited until after work tomorrow to buy them, there might not be any good ones left.
Even the pre-wrapped bouquets at the store might not include his preferred varieties.
Suddenly remembering that he had added the flower shop owner’s contact information, Zhang Hao found her in his friend list.
Seeing how late it was, Zhang Hao hesitated, thinking perhaps he could speak with her early tomorrow morning instead.
But he sent the message anyway, as if possessed by something.
"Please prepare a bouquet of thirty-nine roses for me tomorrow."
After he sent the message, Zhang Hao thought the flower shop owner definitely wouldn’t see it.
But the shop owner replied quickly.
"I just posted some newly wrapped bouquets in my social circle; pick a style, and I’ll prepare it for you early tomorrow, ensuring I pick the finest flowers," she replied.
Seeing the flower shop owner’s offer, Zhang Hao certainly wouldn’t refuse. He clicked on her profile picture to enter her social circle.
After browsing through a few days of posts, he found not only pre-wrapped bouquets but also some life sharings and selfies.
It’s not strange for a woman to like flowers and to take selfies.
In fact, these things are quite ordinary.
But there was something about those snippets of life and photos that the flower shop owner shared
that made Zhang Hao uncomfortable.
He remembered that every time he visited the flower shop, the female owner would wear a proper dress,
with an apron tied around her waist for convenience while trimming the stems,
which gave her a gentle and reliable impression.
However, the photos she shared in her social circle portrayed a different style.
They were either tank tops or very revealing clothes.
Sometimes the angles of those photos were quite provocative,
and at first glance, they seemed exaggerated.
But upon opening and looking closely, one would realize it was a misconception.
To prevent himself from overthinking, after finding a bouquet he liked,
Zhang Hao sent it to the shop owner and exited her social circle.
"This bouquet, if made with roses from abroad, won’t come cheap," she said.
"However, since Doctor Zhang is a regular customer, I can give you a 15% discount. When will you come to pick it up tomorrow?"
Now Zhang Hao didn’t know when He Qianhui’s flight would land.
He just gave a rough time estimate.
"Probably around three to five, depends on when my girlfriend comes back," he said casually.
"Buying flowers for your girlfriend again, Mr. Zhang really is the embodiment of true love," she remarked.
Zhang Hao didn’t want to waste more words with the flower shop owner.
After asking how much the bouquet cost, he promptly transferred the money.
He spent another night alone in bed; come morning, Zhang Hao went to the hospital as usual.
