Chapter 344: Chapter 341 Shared Responsibility
After much difficulty falling asleep, Zhang Hao had another dream.
In the dream, he took He Qianhui to a public restroom about seven or eight kilometers away from home.
He even blindfolded her and handcuffed her inside the men’s toilet with toy handcuffs.
He loitered around the public restroom, following anyone who went in to relieve themselves.
When passersby entered the men’s restroom and saw a woman there,
at first they were surprised, but then they didn’t want to leave.
Even if there was no actual, physical contact.
Their hands, inevitably, couldn’t help but take advantage.
All night long, about seven or eight people visited that public restroom in succession.
When Zhang Hao finally took pity and unlocked the handcuffs, He Qianhui had already turned into a soggy mess.
Zhang Hao still asked her if she enjoyed it, if she was satisfied, and if she wanted to come back tomorrow night?
He Qianhui hurriedly removed her blindfold and complained that all those people only touched her, but no one pulled down her underwear.
The alarm clock suddenly went off, and Zhang Hao opened his eyes.
Having had such a dream, he didn’t know how to bring it up with He Qianhui.
Moreover, telling her would be pointless, and he couldn’t possibly take her to that kind of place for real.
After all, things in dreams are always the opposite.
After a quick wash and breakfast, Zhang Hao rushed to the hospital.
Not having seen everyone for seven days, there had been some changes, more or less.
"Have there been many patients these last few days?" Zhang Hao asked curiously.
Lin Wan replied, "Our department went crazy after you left, but the leaders said not to disturb you during your days off."
"So, it was touch and go, but last night a patient came to the hospital, insisting that you must be the one to see her."
"I was on duty then, and I told her you’d be in the hospital today and to come back this morning."
"She’ll probably be here any moment, so don’t forget to see her then."
Zhang Hao was very curious about who this patient, insisting on being seen by him, might be?
In his past consultations, there had been a few patients who had specifically asked for him.
But those were regular patients who kept coming back because they trusted him.
"What does she look like?" Zhang Hao asked.
"Short hair, wears glasses, never saw her before. Anyway, I won’t keep you, I need to go get some rest now. See you tomorrow."
Lin Wan quickly briefed him, changed her clothes, and finished her shift.
By nine o’clock in the morning, Zhang Hao had already seen three patients.
He finally had a moment to himself to stand and sip some water to soothe his throat.
No sooner had he stood up than a woman with short hair, holding a registration slip, walked in.
He looked up and recognized her; wasn’t this the older sister of that girl?
So it was her!
"Didn’t you say you’d be back today?" Zhang Hao broke the silence first.
"The plan was to return today, but plans can’t keep up with changes. I took a flight back yesterday afternoon, but as soon as I landed, I felt some discomfort in my stomach. Taking medication didn’t help, so I thought of you. I thought you would be here last night, but I came for nothing. Luckily, you’re here today; could you check what’s wrong with me?"
Since she had come, Zhang Hao wasn’t too worried, especially as her complexion didn’t seem too bad.
He preliminarily judged it wasn’t likely to be a serious issue.
"Alright, just give me a moment to get this water."
After Zhang Hao came back with the water and saw she was still there, he took a sip to moisten his throat.
"Men to the left, women to the right, give me your right hand."
"I still don’t know your name," he said.
The woman smiled and said, "Isn’t it on the registration form?"
Zhang Hao glanced at it, "Xia Jing, that’s a pretty name."
Xia Jing’s smile widened, "Doctor Zhang, you really know how to charm someone, even such an ordinary name sounds beautiful coming from you."
His fingertips gently touched Xia Jing’s wrist, and after a calm minute passed.
Zhang Hao finally raised his hand, "It’s not a big problem, it seems you’ve eaten something bad that caused acute gastroenteritis. I’ll write you a prescription, just make sure to take the medicine on time."
"For the next few days, eat less spicy and cold food, and make sure to have a regular routine, no staying up late."
Xia Jing upon hearing this, did not seem too pleased.
"Doctor Zhang, what you’re asking is something I really can’t guarantee; you know my work hours are never fixed."
"It’s often a feast or famine for me. In a moment I have to return to the company, and who knows, I might not get off work until eleven or midnight."
"If I were to follow your advice to get off work on time and rest early, that would be nothing but a fairy tale to me."
"You might as well prescribe me something stronger, at least something that will let me work with peace of mind."
Seeing Xia Jing talking like this, Zhang Hao empathized with her situation.
"Alright, then I’ll switch your medication, but when it’s time to rest, you must rest. Don’t overwork yourself; people aren’t machines."
After he prescribed a new medicine, Xia Jing carefully examined the prescription.
"I didn’t expect Doctor Zhang’s handwriting to be so nice. I thought all doctors write like they’re drawing talismans."
Zhang Hao smiled slightly, "That time just hasn’t come yet, you should go get your medicine first. The sooner you take it, the sooner you’ll feel better."
Xia Jing acknowledged him but hesitated to get up.
"What’s wrong? Is there somewhere else that’s uncomfortable?" Zhang Hao asked.
Xia Jing shook her head, "There’s nothing uncomfortable, I just wanted to talk a bit more with Doctor Zhang."
"What would you like to talk about with me? We don’t seem to know each other that well."
"My sister woke up, and sure enough, as I thought, she saw herself bald."
"She didn’t speak to my parents for two days. Later on, I told her if she didn’t shave her head, she would have died."
"I also told her that the surgeon who operated on her was a very handsome doctor, and I showed her your photo."
"After seeing your photo, she actually stopped feeling sad. Do you think this little girl is somewhat superficial, fancying only handsome guys?"
Zhang Hao vaguely remembered that Xia Jing’s sister was only in her teens today.
A teenage girl already aware of her attraction to handsome guys—that’s not a good sign.
"As her elder sister, you should correct this bad habit. At her age, she should be focusing on her studies, not handsome guys."
Xia Jing shook her head, "My sister has been spoiled since she was young; all the big principles I tell her fall on deaf ears."
"I don’t know if you’re available this evening, Doctor Zhang, but if you are, I hope we could have dinner together."
Zhang Hao hesitated for a moment and then said, "Didn’t you say you’ll be working late tonight? Are you planning to have supper with me?"
"Supper is not out of the question; I’ll call you later, Doctor Zhang. I don’t want to disturb your work now."
As soon as Xia Jing left, everyone in the department turned their gaze towards Zhang Hao.
"Mr. Zhang, it looks like you’ve got another romantic encounter. Why is it that such good fortune never falls upon us?"
"That patient just now, she seemed quite nice. But Mr. Zhang, you have a girlfriend. What will you do if she finds out?"
He really knew how to touch a sore spot. Raising his hand in a playfully threatening manner, Zhang Hao pretended to strike.
"You two, can’t you just focus on work? Don’t talk about things that don’t concern you, not even one word."
Another doctor quipped, "Looks like Mr. Zhang will have to spend a lot of energy this evening. Later, when patients come, we’ll take over for him."
