Chapter 343: Chapter 340 Save a Little More
In the blink of an eye, the seven-day holiday was down to its last day.
Before heading back, Zhang Hao had prepared a little surprise for He Qianhui.
It was, in a way, the perfect full stop to their journey.
He had booked a restaurant and ordered roses, and He Qianhui had dressed up for the occasion.
Zhang Hao had arrived at the restaurant early, ready to share this moment together.
Only after seeing that everything was prepared did He Qianhui sit down.
"What’s all this about, making such a fuss?"
"For you, no amount of fuss is a problem, as long as you’re happy, that’s enough."
Looking down at the large bunch of champagne roses in her arms, He Qianhui also felt blissful.
"When are we heading back? You’re not planning to drive through the night again, are you? You have work tomorrow."
Zhang Hao smiled slightly, "You don’t need to worry about that; I’ll definitely be back on time."
Just as they were about to start eating, Zhang Hao’s phone rang. He picked it up and saw a message from that girl’s sister.
"Doctor Zhang, I’m going back to the capital for work tomorrow. If you get the chance, come find me at Huafeng Building, so I can properly thank you."
After reading the message, Zhang Hao didn’t reply; he simply put his phone aside, not wanting a third person to disturb his peaceful moment.
"I’ve got to say, ever since you started working at that hospital, so many beauties have fallen for your hands. It makes me jealous just looking at them."
"Jealous of what? It’s all just for fun, I don’t take it seriously."
"You say you don’t take it seriously, yet you’re so earnest about it. I’ll have you know, I can’t stand any grit in my eyes."
"If you’ve got anything going on with other women, you’d better keep it well hidden."
"Don’t let me find out, or I’ll cut you off without a second thought."
Zhang Hao waved his hands repeatedly, "Why ruin the mood talking about these things? It seems you don’t trust me."
He Qianhui blinked but didn’t say a word.
Seeing that He Qianhui wasn’t in high spirits, Zhang Hao was quite eager.
"Who knows when we’ll come here next time? Make sure to leave no regrets."
"I heard the coconut chicken here is good. Taste it quickly, the soup’s sweet and the meat’s tender."
After finishing the meal, the two returned to the hotel to pack their things.
They also packed the few boxes of unused condoms into their luggage.
Having loaded the luggage into the car, Zhang Hao drove to the gas station first.
After filling up the tank, they started their journey back. With limited time, they hardly stopped along the way.
Several hours later, they finally arrived home.
Back in the familiar cozy nest, He Qianhui slumped onto the sofa.
There’s no place like home. No matter how luxurious hotel rooms are, they can’t offer a sense of belonging or happiness.
"Right, I need to go over there tomorrow and check on things. If I remember correctly, the renovation should be nearly done."
"I need to buy some plants to soak up the formaldehyde, so we can move in sooner."
Zhang Hao nodded, "Do you want me to accompany you?"
"No need, you’ve already taken seven days off to travel with me, I don’t know how to thank your boss."
"How could I ask for another day off? I can handle this by myself."
"Now, you should go take a shower in the bathroom. Can’t you smell that you stink?"
Zhang Hao sniffed himself but didn’t notice any odor.
"I was driving, not running; how could I possibly stink?"
He Qianhui pushed Zhang Hao toward the bathroom and then lay back down on the sofa.
Unconsciously, her eyelids grew heavy and, after Zhang Hao had finished showering and came out, he found she had already fallen asleep on the sofa.
Standing beside her, Zhang Hao shook his head helplessly. He feared waking her if he carried her back to the bedroom.
He fetched a blanket to cover her and, thinking that he had to return to work tomorrow, Zhang Hao realized there were many things he needed to prepare in advance.
He took out his laptop and set it on the coffee table in the living room, then made himself a cup of coffee.
He waited until He Qianhui woke up; the sun had already set, and only then did Zhang Hao pack up his computer to start preparing dinner.
"Didn’t we empty the fridge before we left? We didn’t buy groceries on the way back either, so what are we going to eat?"
Qianhui put away the blanket before getting up and walking to the fridge.
She was quite surprised when she opened the door.
The fridge was stuffed with vegetables, milk, and various drinks.
"How did this happen? I remember we finished all the food before we left."
Zhang Hao calmly explained, "My mom brought these over; she came by last night."
"She brought us some groceries and stocked them here, and there are dumplings she made at the bottom."
"If you don’t want anything too fussy, we can just boil some dumplings and make a cold dish."
These past few days away, they had indulged in plenty of exotic delicacies.
Qianhui also felt like having something light.
So she decided to keep it simple as Zhang Hao had suggested, which would be easier to digest.
Seeing Zhang Hao bustling about in the kitchen, Qianhui took a bunch of grapes, placed them in a bowl, and washed them.
She would wash a grape and then pop it into Zhang Hao’s mouth.
"Sweet or not?"
Zhang Hao burst the grape, its juice exploding in his mouth: "Sweet, the taste is quite good; you should try it."
Qianhui was skeptical, "Really? You better not be lying to me."
"Why would I lie to you? How bad can a grape be? If you don’t want them, I’ll eat them all," Zhang Hao turned to look at her.
Qianhui paid him no mind, pinched a grape, and put it in her mouth, only to wince from its tartness.
"You said they were sweet! It’s so sour, not tasty at all."
Seeing her fooled, Zhang Hao quickly spat out the grape he had in his mouth.
"This is called sharing weal and woe; I can’t exactly let myself be the only one eating sour grapes."
Qianhui couldn’t help but pinch Zhang Hao hard on his waist after hearing this.
"Always teasing me. You have to finish this bunch of grapes today."
No one touched that bunch of grapes again until both of them went to sleep.
Lying in bed, Zhang Hao had some thoughts, but seeing Qianhui’s exhausted face, he felt reluctant to disturb her.
"Go to sleep early; you have things to do tomorrow morning."
"How come you’re not touching me tonight?" Qianhui asked.
"Do you want me to touch you? If so, I certainly won’t hold back."
Just as Zhang Hao was about to pounce onto Qianhui, she quickly put up her hands to block him.
"No, no, no, please be gentle; I’m tired."
"You’ve had your way with me so many times these past few days; even if I were made of iron, I’d need to rest."
Hearing her say this, Zhang Hao couldn’t help but laugh.
"Look at you, always teasing me. You get me all worked up and then you leave me hanging. Women really know how to use someone when they need them, and abandon them when they don’t."
"Next time, I won’t fall for your tricks."
Qianhui pulled the quilt up to her shoulders.
"You should rest too. I don’t want you to run out of steam too soon."
"How many descendants have you lost over these seven days? Did you count?"
"Save it up for a couple of days, give me a big one, and then I’ll let you finish inside me, okay?"
