Chapter 287: Chapter 284: He Actually Likes Men
Zhang Hao had a good plan in mind, but things didn’t unfold as he had imagined.
More than ten minutes later, the sound of running water inside finally stopped.
Faintly, he could still hear He Qianhui humming a tune.
Zhang Hao knocked on the door again, "Xiao Xiaohui, I was wrong about the situation tonight." I’ll never do it again, okay? If it comes to that, I’ll even write you a guarantee."
Not long after he finished speaking, the door actually opened.
He looked at He Qianhui’s flushed face, her body wrapped only in a white bath towel.
"If I don’t show you some color, you’ll never know who’s in charge in this house."
The bathroom was filled with the scent of shower gel and steam.
Zhang Hao couldn’t care less at that moment.
He hurried to the toilet, opened the gate to flush, and after relieving himself, he finally felt comfortable.
Holding onto his stuff, he gave it a shake.
He Qianhui glanced at him and said, "Look at you, you’ve made a mess everywhere. Clean it up, and don’t even think about me cleaning it up for you."
At this moment, Zhang Hao couldn’t go against He Qianhui’s words.
After putting on his pants, he took a couple of tissues and wiped the urine stains from the toilet little by little.
"Xiaohui, let me sleep in the room tonight, will you? Look at me, sleeping on the sofa all alone, how pitiful that is."
"I saw how comfortably you were lying there just now, spread-eagled."
"Why bother with claiming a spot with me, you can sleep on the sofa for the next couple of days."
Zhang Hao frowned, about to say something, when he suddenly saw a sanitary napkin wrapper in the trash can next to the toilet.
"Is it your period?"
He Qianhui nodded.
So that was it, no wonder her mood was so volatile tonight.
"Are you feeling unwell anywhere?"
"Not at the moment, but I generally start feeling bad on the second day. I hope this time it will be easier on me."
Zhang Hao immediately grabbed He Qianhui’s right hand and felt her pulse.
The sudden act made He Qianhui somewhat worried.
After all, she knew Zhang Hao was a doctor.
A doctor’s word could determine life and death, and she was quite afraid of that.
After a minute or two, Zhang Hao’s brows and eyes relaxed.
"It’s nothing serious. I’ll stop by the pharmacy after work tomorrow to get you a couple of prescriptions to take. You won’t have such a hard time during your period after some treatment."
"Really? Then why didn’t you prescribe something for me before?"
"You never told me before. Seeing as I’m so good and caring to you, let’s not make me sleep in the living room tonight."
It’s rare to see him so sweet-talking, so He Qianhui decided to forgive him just this once.
"Let me tell you, just this once. If you ever upset me again, don’t even think about getting on my bed."
With this one time, Zhang Hao would surely remember. Just the thought of not being able to touch her for about the next week,
made Zhang Hao feel very uncomfortable. Having such a lovely beauty lying beside him, only to look and not touch, would make any man irritable.
The night finally passed, and the next day, Zhang Hao got up early and made brown sugar ginger water for He Qianhui.
He also prepared breakfast, and by the time she woke up, Zhang Hao had already gone to work.
After arriving at the hospital, he was as busy as ever.
After seeing two patients, a familiar face came into view.
It was Liang Yun.
Thinking she was sick, but after Liang Yun entered, she looked out the door and called, "Hurry up and come in."
At her behest, another woman, around twenty-six or twenty-seven, entered.
The woman was dressed very plainly, with a big hat, sunglasses, and a mask, as if afraid of being recognized.
"Mrs. Liang, what’s this about?"
"It’s not me coming for a checkup, I’ve brought a younger cousin of mine, who has been married for two years now,"
"But there’s still no good news, and I was worried something might be wrong with her health, so I brought her over for you to take a look,"
When Zhang Hao heard this, he immediately realized, "Then you should take her to a gynecologist, I’m a practitioner of traditional Chinese medicine."
"But I only trust you, and besides, no matter the department, it’s all about treating people,"
"If you can’t find anything here, there’s still time to take her somewhere else. Ultimately, it’s because I trust you that I brought her here,"
Touched by Liang Yun’s trust, Zhang Hao had no choice but to take her younger cousin’s pulse first.
A moment later, Zhang Hao suddenly asked, "You and your husband have been married for many years, have you had that kind of intimate relationship?"
Before the younger cousin could even speak, Liang Yun made a joking comment.
"Doctor Zhang, you really have a sense of humor. How could a married couple not do that,"
Who knew the younger cousin would suddenly lower her head and say, "No."
Two words heavy as a thousand catties.
They also left Liang Yun stunned as she looked at her younger cousin.
"What did you say? You’ve been married to that man for two years and he hasn’t touched you? Why?"
The younger cousin took off her glasses, and one could see a hint of bruising at the corners of her eyes.
"Cousin, he doesn’t love me, and it seems he has no interest in women,"
"The last time we were together was on our wedding day, that one time only,"
"Yet he resents me for not getting pregnant on the first try. Do you know what kind of life I’ve been living these years?"
Upon hearing this, the smile on Liang Yun’s face vanished in an instant.
"Why didn’t you tell me sooner?"
The younger cousin shook her head, "How could I tell you something like this? Family disgrace should not be publicized."
Liang Yun, furious, slammed the table and exclaimed, "What kind of family disgrace is this? Clearly, it was he who deceived people first."
"I thought it was because you were unwell that you couldn’t have children over these past two years. To think that he’s actually someone who likes men."
Zhang Hao knew the situation was spiraling beyond his control.
He comforted Liang Yun first, "Miss Liang, in my opinion, you should go home and discuss this matter properly,"
"Then decide how to solve it. This is a hospital—there are too many eyes and ears around,"
Liang Yun also forced herself to calm down quickly.
"Thank you, Doctor Zhang. I’ll come back some other time to thank you. I’ll take my cousin home to deal with family matters first,"
No sooner had Liang Yun left with her younger cousin than Zhang Hao hurriedly wiped the sweat from his forehead.
It seemed the hospital’s gossip was indeed plentiful.
Even the two doctors nearby, having witnessed the scene, were amazed.
"That man has no sense of responsibility at all. He has completely victimized that young girl,"
"You’re absolutely right. I can’t understand how someone like that can get a wife when a great guy like me is still single,"
That same afternoon, Zhang Hao received a call from the surgical department.
He was asked to help with a surgery; a patient’s leg had been broken and needed to be reattached at the hospital.
As there weren’t many patients on Zhang Hao’s side, he didn’t refuse and quickly made his way there.
Upon arriving at the surgical ward, he first saw the patient lying on the hospital bed.
Besides the broken leg, the patient’s face was also wrapped in gauze, clearly, he had been severely beaten.
"Where’s the family?"
"The family is outside, discussing whether to use anesthesia for the upcoming surgery,"
"How can you not use anesthesia? What in the world is the family thinking? I’ll go and have a look,"
Zhang Hao went outside the ward and saw several people arguing there.
"He had it coming, bullying my sister, and we already let him off easy by not killing him,"
"I told you to go easy and you didn’t listen. Now we’re in the hospital and later we’ll have to pay his medical bills,"
"But, once this fellow wakes up, we’re getting a divorce. He pretended to be so genuine initially, but now his true colors are revealed,"
