Chapter 28: Chapter 28: Elegance of Butterflies

Zhang Hao’s gaze fixed on the name column of the ultrasound report, where it clearly displayed Song Xin, not handwritten, but printed!

Glancing at the completely naked Song Xin on the bed, and then at the ultrasound report in his hands, Zhang Hao’s head buzzed.

His eyes moved down to the diagnostic result of the ultrasound: the embryo is developing well!

That means... she’s pregnant!

Recalling the previous encounter with Song Xin in the hospital, she said she was picking up a report for someone else, she had been deceiving him from that moment.

And associating with the information obtained from an old classmate, that Song Xin was dumped by Lin Zhen, and it was half a month ago...

The information was a bit explosive, Zhang Hao couldn’t digest it immediately, and placed the ultrasound report back in the bag without any change in expression.

He pretended as if nothing had happened and left first.

Once in the car, Zhang Hao didn’t rush to start it. Ever since he had encountered Song Xin again, he had a vague feeling that something was off.

It was sheer coincidence in both instances – he hadn’t left his seed in Song Xin.

If he had left his stuff inside Song Xin, perhaps that ultrasound report would have belonged to him.

He thought he was in luck this time, to be legitimately together with his goddess, only to be outsmarted by the goddess, nearly becoming a happy father.

No wonder, on both occasions when he ejaculated outside, Song Xin’s reaction was very strange.

Understanding this, Zhang Hao actually felt relieved; the Song Xin he liked was the goddess from before, even though the current Song Xin is very beautiful.

But, she is no longer a goddess!

He drove home, hastily took a shower, and then returned to the bedroom.

But lying in bed, tossing and turning, he couldn’t fall asleep until nearly one o’clock when he started feeling a bit drowsy.

In the morning, the alarm clock blared, and Zhang Hao abruptly opened his eyes, still very sleepy and with heavy eyelids.

Fearing he might be late for work, Zhang Hao drove to the office, found a consultation seat to sit down, and took out a steaming pork bun from a plastic bag.

The bun’s dough was well risen, soft and fluffy, with eighteen pleats fanning out in a circle with a small dimple in the center.

If it had been protruding, it would be almost like a woman’s cherry.

Zhang Hao took a bite; the juicy and flavorful meat filling was delicious, and he quickly finished two buns, followed by a cup of soy milk, which served as his breakfast.

Other doctors gradually arrived, changed into their scrubs, and called for Zhang Hao to join them for rounds.

During the rounds, Zhang Hao saw the uncle who had undergone surgery the day before.

However, when he had come to the hospital, his complexion was as pale as paper, but after a night’s rest and adjustment, his skin color had improved a lot.

When the patient saw Zhang Hao, he also sat up in bed, eyes brimming with tears of gratitude, continuously uttering words of thanks.

After returning from rounds, Zhang Hao suddenly received a call from Song Xin asking why he had left the night before.

Zhang Hao simply said he had to work in the morning and was afraid he wouldn’t have enough time.

From Song Xin’s tone, it wasn’t difficult to tell that she didn’t know about the ultrasound report being discovered.

Zhang Hao also didn’t plan to expose it, since he had guessed Song Xin’s intentions, he would keep his distance in the future.

Before long, it was afternoon; all the surgeons had a lax day, some dozing off on the desks, some leaning back in their chairs with closed eyes, resting.

Meanwhile, the nurses outside were bustling in and out. Midway through, Zhang Hao went to the restroom,

and just happened to pass by the nurses’ station, where he saw a nurse bending over, searching for something in a cabinet.

The nurse’s uniform wasn’t as body-hugging as imagined; in fact, it was somewhat loose, but the bending posture made her buttocks look full.

Moreover, it was summer, and the hospital was air-conditioned, but the temperature couldn’t be set too low to accommodate patients’ comfort.

The nurses merely wore their underwear before directly slipping on their uniforms.

So, Zhang Hao could clearly see the outline of the underwear beneath the white pants.

The edge of the underwear seemed to have a lace pattern, which led Zhang Hao’s thoughts astray.

Just as he was thinking about this, the nurse suddenly stood up straight and turned her head to see Zhang Hao.

"Ah, when did you get here? You startled me, not making a sound."

Zhang Hao pointed towards the direction of the bathroom, "I went to relieve myself, and when I came back, I saw you searching for something there. I was afraid that if I greeted you, it might startle you."

That nurse laughed while continuously patting her chest, "It’s okay, I’ve finished all my tasks, and now I’m just waiting to get off work. Doctor Zhang, are you on the night shift today?"

Zhang Hao shook his head; it was only his second day at the hospital, so even if there were a night shift, it wouldn’t be his turn.

First, his probation period wasn’t over yet, and second, his clinical experience wasn’t rich enough.

If he were to take a night shift, it would be essential to pair him up with another experienced surgeon.

"I shouldn’t be, what’s up?"

"If you’re not working tonight, would you like to join a party? It’s Xiao Ru’s twenty-fourth birthday today. We’re all chipping in—an AA system, a hundred bucks each."

A hundred bucks wasn’t expensive, but Zhang Hao was still hesitant.

However, joining the gathering could be an opportunity to bond with colleagues.

"Okay, if I can get off work on time today, I’ll come. If there’s another arrangement or if a patient suddenly arrives, I might not be able to make it."

The nurse understood, as with their job, the likelihood of getting off work on time wasn’t very high.

As it was approaching the end of his shift, Zhang Hao had started to pack his things to go home, but then Director Sun suddenly came over.

And called Zhang Hao out again.

Zhang Hao was nonchalant as he stepped out, and then Director Sun told him he needed to stay and work the night shift at the hospital.

Zhang Hao’s eyes widened in surprise, "I’m working the night shift alone?"

Director Sun nodded, "Yes, just you alone. Dr. Xu and Doctor Liu are unavailable tonight, so you’ll help cover the shift."

"But what if a patient comes in? I might not be able to manage on my own," Zhang Hao wasn’t doubting his abilities.

It was just the concern that his lack of experience wouldn’t suffice in handling chaotic situations, as lives were at stake and not to be taken lightly.

"Don’t worry. Everyone lives close to the hospital, and if there’s any emergency, you just call."

"The phone number for the surgical clinic is written on the wall; call if you need to."

Zhang Hao, who had hoped to go home early that day, hadn’t moved from his spot after dinner.

After making the nighttime rounds, the wards turned off their lights, leaving only the corridor bathed in the dim white light.

Zhang Hao wasn’t scared, but he felt a bit uncomfortable looking at the empty, deserted surroundings.

By eleven at night, Zhang Hao felt a bit hungry and saw that there was nothing urgent, so he decided to go downstairs to the supermarket to buy some bread to satisfy his hunger.

On his way back, passing the nurses’ station, Zhang Hao glanced over and noticed the nurse, Xiao Ru, dozing off on the desk.

Her phone was still playing a television series.

But listening closely, something seemed off about the sound—it was in Japanese, "yariman"!

Zhang Hao paused, his gaze resting on the phone’s screen, which was showing a Japanese erotic film.

Watching a movie during work hours, Zhang Hao was genuinely surprised, especially since it was playing out loud.

Even with the volume turned very low, in the quiet corridor, it was strikingly clear.

Zhang Hao stopped in his tracks and coughed, and Nurse Lin Wan, who had been dozing off, suddenly woke up with a start.

Upon lifting her head and seeing Zhang Hao, she blushed and hastily flipped her phone over, pretending as if nothing had happened.
