Chapter 257: Chapter 254 I’ll Be Conservative
After packing up, He Qianhui started preparing lunch.
At this time, Zhang Hao was also struggling to keep his eyes open from fatigue.
Lunch was ready, and he was sound asleep; He Qianhui didn’t have the heart to wake him, so she left her portion aside and kept the rest warm in the pot.
Before leaving, she even put Zhang Hao’s dirty clothes in the washing machine and washed them clean.
Only after everything was arranged did she leave for the airport alone, luggage in hand.
By the time Zhang Hao woke up, the plane had already taken off.
Getting up from the bed to wash his face, he saw there was still plenty of time.
He planned to go out for a walk, as his recent workload had left him with no time for himself.
He seized the rare opportunity to experience the "human touch of life" that people often talked about online.
Sometime before he noticed, the entrance of the community had become filled with various street vendors.
Many familiar faces gathered around these stalls to buy food.
Zhang Hao wanted to buy something too and perhaps crack open a beer as well.
He wouldn’t have to work until tomorrow, and a single beer would probably be metabolized by the night’s end.
There was no need to worry too much about the alcohol affecting him.
After purchasing some mixed sauce seafood, Zhang Hao headed back home.
Upon entering the kitchen and seeing the leftover food in the pot, a subtle warmth surged in his heart.
Meanwhile, He Qianhui had already arrived in the city for her business trip, and this time, she was not accompanied by a male colleague.
Instead, she was with a female coworker from the company she got along fairly well with, named Feng Nuo.
The two were about the same age, but Feng Nuo was rather plain-looking and not particularly stunning in appearance.
He Qianhui felt that the manager’s arrangement was deliberate.
"Feng, let’s go to the hotel and put down our luggage first," she said.
Feng Nuo nodded repeatedly, "Xiaohui, thank you for bringing me on this business trip."
"Otherwise, I would have been at the bottom of the sales rankings this month. I heard that the big companies are preparing to implement a last-place elimination system."
"Last-place elimination system? How come I haven’t heard about it?" He Qianhui asked, curious.
Feng Nuo sighed, "Even if it is true, Xiaohui, you don’t have to worry. Your business performance is top-notch in our company."
"The last place could never be you. It’s people like me that can’t sleep well every night."
"No worries, when we get back, I’ll share half of the credit with you, then you won’t be last, right?" He Qianhui said.
He Qianhui knew how to speak in pleasantries, but she didn’t have high hopes for this business trip.
Still, she had to give it her all.
The two arrived at the hotel and had just settled their luggage when they received a call from the local liaison.
"Looks like we won’t be able to rest today; we need to hurry over," He Qianhui said.
Feng Nuo suddenly felt that going out with He Qianhui was a different experience.
On previous business trips, she felt like a headless fly.
Clueless about what to do, and whenever she met with some bosses, she was awkward and tongue-tied.
She could only chat based on the script the company provided.
The conversations started off well, but as soon as the purpose of the trip was mentioned,
the bosses would either use the pretext of drinking to change the subject,
or they would slam their glass on the table, saying she ruined their good mood, so how could they talk about cooperation.
Thus, what Feng Nuo feared the most now was going on business trips. However, this time she felt much clearer going out with He Qianhui.
"Xiaohui, do I also need to say something at the dinner table tonight?"
Feng Nuo asked very cautiously; both of them were salespeople, and whoever could get the boss to successfully place an order meant they could bring tremendous profits to the company.
This time out, Feng Nuo was quite aware that she was just an accessory, and in most cases, she had to rely on He Qianhui.
But, having the rare opportunity to come out, she couldn’t end up with nothing, right? She also wanted to make a name for herself in this industry.
Moreover, everyone is human; why should she be the one always hitting the wall?
"That depends on the atmosphere at the scene. If the big boss is willing to come out for a meal and drinks with you, he definitely has the intention to cooperate,"
"But nobody’s money is blown here by the wind; they always have to pick the most suitable one. If they don’t bring it up initially, neither should you."
Feng Nuo remembered these words from He Qianhui very clearly; this way, the next time she went on a business trip by herself, she might be able to put them to good use.
Upon arrival, the place was an entertainment club that looked quite upscale—probably costing no less than five figures for a single visit.
After giving the name of the big boss this time, He Qianhui took Feng Nuo to the ladies’ restroom first.
Feng Nuo thought He Qianhui wanted to relieve herself, but after arriving, she saw her beginning to undress.
Having been in sales for over a year, Feng Nuo had heard more than once that in their field, some people sold their bodies to clinch deals.
However, Feng Nuo didn’t want to do that; she wanted to achieve cooperation based on her own strength.
He Qianhui took the pads out of her bra. Even with it still on, the red cherry could not be concealed.
"What are you looking at? Hurry up!"
Feng Nuo hesitated for two seconds, stuttering, "Xiaohui, do we really need to go this far?"
"Of course we do, but you can’t let them get the better of you."
Feng Nuo looked down at her own figure and sighed inwardly; she was almost flat, without any curves at all.
Even if she didn’t wear anything inside, they might not like it.
Seeing Feng Nuo so cautious, He Qianhui consoled her, "Men are visual creatures. You have to make them happy before you can get them to sign."
"What’s the harm in letting them take a few extra peeks through your clothes? Will it cost you a piece of flesh?"
What He Qianhui said was not wrong, and Feng Nuo seemed to understand why she had been hitting the wall all along.
"Xiaohui, but my figure isn’t as good as yours. What if those bosses don’t like what they see?"
He Qianhui sneered coldly, "Don’t worry, in this world, there’s someone for everyone."
At this point, Feng Nuo didn’t know if what He Qianhui was saying was true, but as things had come to such a critical point, she still had to follow through.
When Feng Nuo, imitating He Qianhui, removed her own pads, she realized that her bra was merely two pieces of fabric as thin as cicada wings.
Although her assets were not as full as He Qianhui’s, those two red cherries were still quite noticeable.
"I didn’t expect you, such a reserved person, to have such pretty lingerie. Don’t fasten the top two buttons of your shirt."
If she didn’t fasten the top two buttons, the edge of her bra would be exposed, right?
"Xiaohui, let me fasten a few more anyway. Otherwise... it’s not professional."
He Qianhui crossed her arms in front of her chest. She had only been a salesperson for a few months but had already figured out the twists and turns of the business.
"This isn’t the place to showcase our professionalism, understand?"
Feng Nuo’s mind was no longer sure how to think; whatever He Qianhui said, she followed.
But when leaving the restroom, Feng Nuo saw that He Qianhui had buttoned up all her buttons.
She hadn’t unfastened two buttons as she had done.
This somewhat puzzled Feng Nuo; why couldn’t the two of them do the same thing?
"Xiaohui, why didn’t you unfasten two buttons?"
He Qianhui let down her long hair and smiled, "Being conservative can be more useful than being open."
