Chapter 219: Chapter 216: Making a Fuss over Nothing
After leaving the communication competition venue, Qin Miaoke got into the car and started organizing her belongings.
Zhang Hao dialed his uncle’s phone from the driver’s seat.
The uncle quickly picked up, already knowing what he wanted to ask, so he took the initiative to say,
"Don’t worry, everything is fine. If you’re not at ease, you can come over anytime, we’re all here."
With his uncle’s reassurance, even if Zhang Hao was not at ease, he had to be.
"Okay, I got it, I’ll come over to have a look right now."
Qin Miaoke continued to pack her things while pricking up her ears to listen to Zhang Hao’s conversation.
She had probably figured out some of the content, but there were still some details that were not very clear to her.
Yet, she felt it was improper to openly inquire about it.
She just waited for Zhang Hao to talk about it on his own initiative.
They drove to the city hospital and saw his father who had awakened in the general ward.
He was in good condition after the surgery, and the rescue was timely, so there was really no major problem with his health now.
He just needed some quiet recuperation, and the initial surgery cost, as well as the subsequent treatment expenses, were not astronomical.
The family could afford it.
Seeing that his father had aged a lot, Zhang Hao suddenly regretted why he had to be stubborn with his parents in the past.
However, he did not waver in his desire to continue liking He Qianhui.
When he got to his father’s bedside, he peeled an apple for him.
He then cut it into small pieces to feed him, and his father did not refuse, eating them one by one.
It seemed that the conflict between father and son had finally melted away in that moment.
"Xiao Hai, I heard you moved out. Why move out all of a sudden when everything is fine?"
"Is it not good living in your own home? You’re so young now, do you know how to take care of yourself?"
Faced with his uncle’s sudden question, Zhang Hao had to rack his brains to answer.
He had to be watertight and not give away any leverage.
"The hospital changed its address, and it’s quite far from home, so I rented a small house near the hospital."
"That way, I can sleep there after work in the evening, and if there’s an emergency, I can get there as quickly as possible."
His uncle naively thought Zhang Hao was living outside because he wanted to spend time alone with a girl he liked.
After all, it was only natural for Zhang Hao, who was no longer young, to have someone he liked.
Some things have to be done out of the sight of parents.
It never occurred to him that Zhang Hao was considering the patients.
"Ah, I see, in that case, it must be that your uncle has a narrow mind. I was wrong. But you should also visit home often, don’t make your parents worry about you," said the uncle.
Zhang Hao nodded repeatedly, finishing the apple down to the core and then found a trash can to throw the core into.
"Uncle, I also have to thank you for taking care of my dad at the bedside these past few days. If someday you also..."
Zhang Hao suddenly found himself unable to continue speaking at this point.
It was as if to say any more would be like casting a curse.
The uncle also repeatedly told Zhang Hao to stop talking: "Stop, stop, don’t say any more, it’s unlucky to continue."
After visiting his father, Zhang Hao returned to his place, while He Qianhui was still on a business trip outside.
Therefore, the house was empty, but Zhang Hao felt that his day had been quite fulfilling.
During the shower, for some reason, the image of Wen Xia appeared in his mind.
He wondered what that woman, who kept others at a thousand-mile distance, would be like in bed.
Zhang Hao was somewhat curious. He had too many women who took the initiative around him, and initiative women lacked challenge; he liked conquest.
So, he decided to make Wen Xia the first one.
Since she said she didn’t like receiving pictures of abs, he decided to send a goodnight blessing instead.
But Zhang Hao felt this was also pretty cheesy, constantly typing in the text box, editing and deleting, deleting and editing, over and over, until he finally chose not to disturb her.
Yet doing so made Zhang Hao suddenly feel a bit bored tonight.
Without intending to, he scrolled to a post made by Qin Miaoke just five minutes before.
That girl had actually gone to a bar to drink, dressed quite scantily.
Her top was a green sling-back, generously revealing her cleavage.
He wasn’t sure if it was intentional or if she thought that dressing this way fit the bar atmosphere.
He clicked on the photo to enlarge it and suddenly noticed a man behind her.
Looking at her with a blatantly ill-intentioned gaze!
As a man, he understood in an instant what such a look implied.
To prevent Qin Miaoke from being in danger, Zhang Hao immediately sent a message asking when she would go back.
He sent the message, and quickly got a reply from Qin Miaoke, "Mr. Zhang, I’m bored at home alone, so I came out for a drink. Do you want to join me?"
Having received the invitation, Zhang Hao naturally had to go, in case something happened to Qin Miaoke right under his watch.
How would he explain it to Elder Qin then!
"Ok, I’ll be right there. Wait for me."
After sending the message, Zhang Hao quickly changed his clothes, choosing an outfit with a casual look.
Before heading out, he even dug out a pair of glasses to wear, to at least make himself look a bit more refined.
Arriving at the bar, Zhang Hao really wasn’t accustomed to this kind of environment—noisy outside, the explosive music inside seemed to challenge the endurance of one’s eardrums.
He finally spotted Qin Miaoke’s figure at a stand-up table after some effort.
But there were already three or four men surrounding her, watching her like predators.
Zhang Hao took the initiative to step forward and tapped her on the shoulder.
Paying no mind to the stares of those men.
"Mr. Zhang, you got here pretty fast. Have a drink," said Qin Miaoke, already slightly tipsy.
But she seemed happy, it was visible.
"What’s to drink? You, a young girl out alone, drinking so much—do you want to give other men the chance to hurt you?"
Zhang Hao raised his voice as he spoke, but Qin Miaoke pretended not to hear, playfully waving her hands.
"I can’t hear you. If you won’t drink, then I’ll get you a non-alcoholic drink."
Qin Miaoke couldn’t hear what Zhang Hao was saying, but she heard the bartender’s words loud and clear.
He ordered a regular drink for Zhang Hao, who cautiously didn’t drink it.
As for those men who already saw Qin Miaoke as prey, they didn’t give up just because Zhang Hao showed up.
Instead, they kept looking for an opportunity.
"It’s getting late, I should take you home," Zhang Hao said.
Qin Miaoke shook her head, "No, I’m not going back. I finally made it here, Grandpa doesn’t care about me anymore, why do you want to?"
Seeing Qin Miaoke continuously uncooperative, Zhang Hao had no other choice but to call Elder Qin.
When Elder Qin learned that his granddaughter had gone to the bar again, he was absolutely livid.
The anger felt like it could even burst through the phone.
Qin Miaoke sobered up in that moment, took Zhang Hao’s phone, and repeatedly apologized to her grandfather on the line.
And she promised, time and again, that she would definitely not go to a chaotic place like the bar ever again.
After hanging up the phone with great difficulty, Qin Miaoke looked at Zhang Hao somewhat angrily.
"Mr. Zhang, now you’ve also learned to call for reinforcements, haven’t you?"
"I just came out for a drink, not to go to a room with other men. Do you really need to make such a fuss?"
