Chapter 218: Chapter 215 Contact Information
"What do you mean I can’t compete? Is it about me personally, or my medical skills?"
The doctor stood right next to Zhang Hao, and a mere glance downward allowed him to see the large thing between Zhang Hao’s legs.
So he quickly caught on, then rolled his eyes at Zhang Hao and hurriedly pulled up his own pants, fastening his belt.
"You really are unreasonable. That’s not what I was talking about," the doctor said irritably as he walked away.
Zhang Hao also gave his thing a shake, making sure there was nothing extra on it.
"Making such a fuss, what’s there to be angry about? It’s not like I was showing off with how big I am."
After coming out of the restroom, Zhang Hao saw a few male doctors gathering in small groups.
Everyone was talking about different things, seemingly unrelated, yet there was some kind of connection among them all.
Zhang Hao, once the subject of much admiration, now seemed to stand alone.
"You really are pitiable. You won this round, but in the end, you don’t have a single friend left," Wen Xia said mockingly as she came out of the women’s restroom, looking down at him with the same arrogance.
The more she looked at him like that, the more Zhang Hao wanted to conquer the woman in front of him.
"Miss Wen, do you have a boyfriend?"
Wen Xia was initially stunned, then scoffed with a mocking laugh, "That doesn’t seem to have much to do with you. I refuse to answer."
"Your refusal implies you’re currently single, which means I have a chance to pursue you."
Being pursued by someone she looked down upon was as distasteful as swallowing a fly.
"I admit you’re handsome, but having studied abroad for so many years, I’ve seen my fair share of handsome guys— if not a hundred, then at least eighty. Someone like you won’t make my heart flutter."
Seeing that a soft approach wouldn’t work, he couldn’t just take a hard stance instead. Outside the restroom, there were many onlookers, and Zhang Hao didn’t dare to make a bold move.
If Wen Xia screamed, those old traditional doctors might just drown him with their spit.
Clever strategy was the only way to go.
"They say it’s better to meet by chance than to arrange a meeting. Since we could become rivals, I think someday we might also become friends. Adding a contact shouldn’t be a problem, right?"
He found his QR code business card and passed it over to her.
Wen Xia hesitated for a moment. Although she did not think highly of Zhang Hao as a doctor, she acknowledged his attention to detail.
So many others had failed to notice the peculiarities in the case, yet he was the only one who had spotted them.
This was the difference between them, and so, out of respect for his acumen, Wen Xia still went ahead and added Zhang Hao as a friend.
"But let me tell you, don’t you dare send me unnecessary messages, especially the kind you men like to send, flaunting your abs in selfies."
"I hate that stuff the most. The moment I find any, I’ll immediately block you and delete you."
Zhang Hao wasn’t afraid of her warning. Seeing Wen Xia add him as a friend, he immediately approved it.
"That’s absolutely fine. Actually, I’m not fond of sending selfies of myself either."
"Even if I am slightly handsome, I can’t always rely on my appearance. What if one day my friends get tired of it?"
"I’m aware of the principle ’familiarity breeds contempt.’"
Just because of those last few words, Wen Xia somewhat regretted adding Zhang Hao’s WeChat.
"Just shut your mouth," Wen Xia snapped, striding away.
As for Zhang Hao, he stood still, clicking on Wen Xia’s profile picture, thinking it was just a small image picked randomly from the internet.
But upon clicking, he realized it wasn’t; it unexpectedly was a silhouette side profile of Wen Xia herself.
The photo was taken with a lot of artistic sense and nicely captured her aloof and solitary nature.
Just seeing this profile picture would make anyone worry that this person is hard to approach.
The page then switched to her Moments, which, to one’s surprise, were blank.
Zhang Hao had just added her as a friend when she already set the privacy for her posts. He couldn’t help but sigh.
Why is this woman so guarded?
There didn’t seem to be much connection between them; was she judging him at first glance?
Clearly, they should treat the matter of becoming friends with reason and seriousness.
However, Zhang Hao didn’t insist. After all, he had plenty of time to win over this aloof female traditional medicine doctor.
He planned to use not only his knowledge but also his abilities to make her realize she shouldn’t judge a book by its cover.
When the break was over, the traditional medicine doctors returned to the competition one after another.
Zhang Hao and Wen Xia didn’t become any closer just because they had exchanged contact information.
If anything, adding each other as contacts made their relationship seem slightly ambiguous.
"Don’t think for a moment you’ll beat me in this competition. I never make the same mistake twice," she said.
Although Wen Xia said this, Zhang Hao wasn’t worried.
He didn’t want her to be eliminated just yet.
"Miss Wen, I genuinely like you. I’m not joking; you could try to trust me," he said.
"I didn’t join this competition for the rankings or to prove superiority, but to make friends through the event."
"What if one day I encounter trouble, or meet a patient that I cannot cure?"
"Could I call you then, and you’d come from a thousand miles away to help me?"
Wen Xia seemed to understand Zhang Hao’s meaning. It looked like she had underestimated this man.
"I didn’t expect your heart to be so broad. Well, it seems that I’ve misjudged you," Wen Xia said, her tone softening.
"Actually, you haven’t misread me. I like to multitask when I do things," he confessed.
"This way, I solve work issues and enrich my life. Besides, Miss Wen is so beautiful—it would be a shame if you were always alone."
Wen Xia still wasn’t used to Zhang Hao’s greasiness and fought the urge to delete him from her contacts.
Zhang Hao didn’t lose the following two matches, nor did Wen Xia. After all, the next two rounds were also decided by speed.
"The traditional medicine doctors who were eliminated today need to win tomorrow’s match to qualify for the next round," the judge said.
"I truly met my match here, but don’t worry. I definitely won’t lose as embarrassingly tomorrow as I did today."
Even at this point, Wen Xia was still thinking about winning and losing.
Meanwhile, Zhang Hao was already planning where to take Qin Miaoke for dinner tonight.
The news of his victory had already spread back to the hospital, where the leaders praised him, saying they hadn’t misjudged him and that he was the hospital’s hero.
Everyone was delighted, and Zhang Hao wanted to revel in this joy with a good meal.
But then he suddenly remembered his father lying in the hospital, and his joy was doused with a bucket of cold water.
Noticing something was wrong, Qin Miaoke quickly came over: "Doctor Zhang, Mr. Zhang, we should head back."
Regaining his senses, Zhang Hao turned to Qin Miaoke: "I know. Follow me to the city hospital in a bit."
Qin Miaoke didn’t quite grasp it, but since Zhang Hao had decided, she had no say in the matter and could only agree with an ’oh, okay’.
