Chapter 145: Chapter 143: The Breathing Toy
The relationship between the two wasn’t very close to begin with, so when she suddenly hugged him, Zhang Hao was taken aback.
Just then, his mom and that aunt suddenly turned their heads to look back.
They had been wondering why the two kids hadn’t caught up yet, but upon a glance, they unexpectedly found them wrapped in each other’s arms.
"Look at how fast these kids are moving, they barely spoke a few words at the dinner table, and as soon as they left the restaurant, they’re embracing."
"If you ask me, they might just get married in three months, and you could be expecting a chubby little one by the end of the year."
Zhang Hao’s mom was quite pleased, but she thought that rushing into marriage and childbirth couldn’t be hurried, haste makes waste after all.
Zhang Hao noticed his mom looking over, so he quickly patted the woman on the shoulder.
"Let go quickly, my mom and aunt are watching us."
The woman, because she was excited, had hugged Zhang Hao, not because they had confirmed their relationship, so she hurriedly let go.
The next morning, the woman took the day off and arrived at the hospital early.
On the way, she even bought some gifts for Zhang Hao.
Upon arriving at the department, seeing Zhang Hao in a white coat made her feel he looked way more attractive than in yesterday’s outfit.
After an inspection, Zhang Hao wrote her a prescription.
"Doctor Zhang, your handwriting is quite good, did you specifically study it?"
Zhang Hao shook his head, "With time, one’s writing can get better. This is medicine for two weeks; take two doses daily."
"During the medication, avoid staying up late and try to lie down before eleven o’clock."
"Make sure your meals are regular; otherwise, it’s all for naught."
The woman thanked Zhang Hao profusely, holding the prescription.
Luckily, Lin Wan came out of the consultation room at that moment, and as a woman, she sensed a hint of threat.
"Well, Doctor Zhang, I’ll go get the medicine now. I’ll come back in two weeks."
As they passed by one another, Lin Wan caught a faint scent from the woman.
It was a fragrance from an overseas brand of perfume she had only smelled a few times in the cosmetics store.
Because it was too expensive, she was reluctant to buy it.
"Doctor Zhang, you really have a way with women, huh? Yesterday there was a Miss Lv, and who is this today, someone who came because of your reputation?"
Zhang Hao leaned back in his chair, looked up at Lin Wan and said, "A blind date, can you believe it?"
When Lin Wan heard the words "blind date," her heart skipped a beat.
"Really or not?"
"Why would I lie to you? When I got off work and got home yesterday, the matchmaker had already arrived."
However, Zhang Hao felt the chances of them being together weren’t high, as neither side felt much of a spark.
"Why are you so worried about me?" Zhang Hao said with a smile.
Lin Wan shook her head, "I don’t want to get married that soon; I’m just afraid I won’t have you to play with if you get married."
The way Lin Wan spoke was too direct, and Zhang Hao found it inappropriate to have any intimate contact with her under the guise of work.
If patients or their families caught them, it would be bad for both parties.
"Then you should hurry up and find a boyfriend, someone tall, with, you know, certain big attributes, someone who can satisfy you every day."
Lin Wan laughed, "It’s not the same; I think we’re quite compatible, of course, I mean in bed."
"Don’t think too much of it, for me, you might just be a breathing toy."
Compared by Lin Wan in this way, Zhang Hao stood up sharply, aware that there were surveillance cameras in the office.
But as he stood up, he blocked the view of his hand with his body.
And pinched her on the behind.
In the office, Lin Wan wasn’t prepared for such an encounter.
She immediately looked up at the camera installed in the corner, her heart leaping to her throat, thumping wildly.
"Zhang Hao, there’s a surveillance camera." Lin Wan’s tone carried a hint of reproach.
Zhang Hao walked past Lin Wan, "Tired, go grab a drink of water."
Watching his nonchalant demeanor, Lin Wan turned away, continuously rubbing her chest.
Thinking to herself, this Zhang Hao is too bad, fully aware that they shouldn’t do anything under the surveillance, yet he still deliberately teased her.
The woman had grabbed her medicine, and while waiting outside, she saw Zhang Hao again, so the two of them simply chatted briefly.
That woman didn’t beat around the bush and directly said Zhang Hao was not her type.
But as friends, she was still open to making contact.
Hearing her say this, Zhang Hao finally let out a sigh of relief.
To avoid similar incidents occurring, Zhang Hao decided he would explain things clearly to his mother after getting off work tonight.
Even if she disagreed, if he insisted on doing so, his mother would have no choice.
"Another day, I’ll invite you to go for a sauna together, I know a place that’s really nice."
Zhang Hao also couldn’t stay away from his department too long. After a brief chat, he quickly returned.
Upon his return, he saw a patient sitting in front of the treatment table.
As Zhang Hao set down his water cup, he was startled to realize the person who had come was Lü Juan.
Seeing her styled with long black hair, he felt a bit unaccustomed, and upon closer inspection, he realized that the long black hair was actually a wig.
Because he hadn’t responded within ten minutes yesterday, Lü Juan had been furious about it all night long.
So much so that today she had canceled her beauty appointment with her sisters and come to the hospital alone.
She just wanted to see Zhang Hao, though she couldn’t quite articulate what magic he possessed that made her so infatuated.
Lü Juan’s appearance made Lin Wan realize this woman was no pushover.
"Doctor Zhang, we meet again. Why didn’t you respond to my message yesterday?"
Zhang Hao instantly felt a headache coming on. Sometimes, even doctors want to see a doctor themselves.
"My phone was out of battery yesterday and I forgot about it after dealing with other things."
This answer seemed somewhat evasive, but Lü Juan took it well.
"Well then, Doctor Zhang, give me a response now, how about it?"
Zhang Hao fell silent for a moment.
"Ms. Lv, it’s my working hours now, it’s not convenient to answer any personal questions."
Lü Juan knew Zhang Hao would say this, so she simply added, "In that case, I’ll wait for you after work."
"I remember you have a two-hour break at noon."
In the past, during his noon break, Zhang Hao’s greatest wish was for no patients to come.
Otherwise, he wouldn’t have any time to rest, but today he eagerly hoped that a patient would come to see him during the lunch break.
Unfortunately, Heaven just wasn’t so accommodating.
All morning, only two patients had come in, both with minor ailments easily cured with medication.
Until the lunch break, not a single patient came to alleviate Zhang Hao’s predicament.
Just as he was about to go to his appointment, a sudden phone call from the surgical ward beckoned him over.
Zhang Hao’s secondary specialty was traditional Chinese medicine, but he had majored in surgery in college, and now a patient with life-threatening injuries had arrived in surgery.
They needed multiple skilled surgeons to examine the case together.
Zhang Hao felt like he had been redeemed, called Lin Wan, and immediately headed to surgery.
When he saw the injured person, Zhang Hao’s heart sank; this was far beyond being on the brink of death—it was like snatching someone from the jaws of death.
