Chapter 105: Chapter 104 Leaving Cousin

Liu Gang’s face showed a hint of cunning.

Zhang Hao sensed something wrong and quickly pulled He Qianhui out of the bedroom.

"Sister-in-law, you go first. I’ve got this."

He Qianhui was also somewhat nervous; she knew Liu Gang all too well.

Whenever he showed such an expression, it meant that what would happen next was likely to be out of control.

"Hao, be careful," she barely finished speaking.

Out of the corner of her eye, He Qianhui noticed something missing from the fruit plate on the coffee table in the living room—

a fruit knife.

It was a fruit knife as long as a palm, and an ominous thought surfaced.

He Qianhui loudly warned Zhang Hao, "Hao, your cousin might be holding a fruit knife."

Just as Zhang Hao was distracted for that second.

Liu Gang pulled out the fruit knife and stabbed it towards him. Fortunately, Zhang Hao reacted quickly and dodged.

He Qianhui was so scared that she was frozen, forgetting to escape.

Luckily, Zhang Hao was more agile. After Liu Gang lunged at empty air several times, Zhang Hao kicked him away.

The fruit knife also clattered to the ground, kicked under the sofa by Zhang Hao.

"Cousin, are you trying to kill someone?"

Liu Gang slumped to the ground, looking angrily at Zhang Hao while hitting himself hard between the legs.

"How could I be so useless, not even able to have children, I don’t deserve to be a man, I don’t deserve to live,"

"What’s so wrong about wanting to be a father, letting someone else sleep with my own wife."

"If word of this gets out, won’t they mock me as a cuckolded fool."

Seeing his cousin reveal his innermost thoughts, Zhang Hao also didn’t know how to comfort him.

Especially since Zhang Hao could understand the misery in his cousin’s heart.

It was the same for any couple who both wanted to be parents, being married for so long.

Yet with no sign of pregnancy, naturally there would be certain thoughts in mind.

Zhang Hao looked back and said, "Sister-in-law, you go ahead and wait for me downstairs. I’ll have a good talk with my cousin."

Only then did He Qianhui snap out of it, following Zhang Hao’s instructions and leaving through the door.

The living room was left with only Zhang Hao and Liu Gang.

Zhang Hao went to his cousin’s side, helped him up, and comforted him earnestly.

It was then he realized his cousin’s thoughts were deeply ingrained; he even knelt down to beg Zhang Hao to ensure He Qianhui got pregnant.

As long as he could get her pregnant, he would agree to anything. It didn’t matter if the child was a boy or a girl; he would love them either way.

Zhang Hao felt increasingly that his cousin’s thoughts were not a spur-of-the-moment impulse but an obsession.

"Cousin, let’s think this through for the long term. If you have time, come to the hospital for a comprehensive check-up,"

"As long as they can detect active sperm, you can combine them with your wife’s eggs."

"Then you can have your own child. I have to go now, so let your wife stay at my place for a few days."

"You both need to cool down, so you don’t end up beyond reconciliation. Sister-in-law doesn’t owe you anything."

After finishing his words, Zhang Hao turned and left. As the front door slammed shut, Liu Gang felt his life turn completely bleak.

Downstairs, his sister-in-law was waiting in the car. Zhang Hao got in without a word.

Seeing her covered in wounds, he immediately felt a pang of guilt.

Knowing she had nowhere to go that night, Zhang Hao decided to arrange a room for her at a nearby hotel.

Zhang Hao took full responsibility for the food, clothing, and lodging, having just received tens of thousands in bonuses from the hospital a few days earlier.

Staying at a hotel for a night cost over a hundred yuan; once cousin came to his senses, it wouldn’t cost much at all.

First, he took his sister-in-law shopping for a few clothes, and then they had a big meal outside.

Only in the end did they go to the pharmacy to buy some safflower oil and disinfectants.

Upon arriving at the hotel, Zhang Hao treated He Qianhui’s injuries. In fact, most of the areas were not wounded, just bruised under the skin.

"Sister-in-law, why didn’t you come to find me earlier when my cousin beat you like this? Why did you bear it all by yourself?"

He Qianhui lay on the bed, at this moment completely naked, showing her most real self to Zhang Hao.

"What’s the use of finding you? You are now a busy man with a job to do. Besides, your cousin doesn’t beat me every day."

"It’s because of this useless belly of mine that he gets angry. Actually, I thought this time I might really be pregnant."

"But I never expected that fate would play such a huge joke on me this time."

When Zhang Hao heard his sister-in-law say this, he also felt she was quite pitiable.

He involuntarily made his movements gentler, which was somewhat of a comfort to her.

"Sister-in-law, if you ask me, you might as well split up with my cousin. He has become obsessed with having a child of his own now."

"I really can’t imagine what he might do in the future. What if he hurts you?"

Leaving Liu Gang was something He Qianhui had considered.

But after living together for so long, she felt somewhat reluctant to leave.

"You little rascal, here you go again, stirring up trouble between me and your brother. Be careful he doesn’t find out and give you a beating too."

However, Zhang Hao was genuinely concerned for his sister-in-law this time. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶

"Do I look like I’m joking with you, sister-in-law? How can a delicate woman like you stand up to such bullying from a big man like him?"

"A few more beatings and you won’t even have the strength to go to the hospital. Are you still expecting him to take you to the hospital for an examination?"

These words struck right at He Qianhui’s heart, but as a woman of her age,

suddenly divorcing, who could she turn to? It seemed better to try a bit harder, as there might still be a chance for a different outcome.

"You don’t need to worry about your sister-in-law. Just think about yourself. With what happened today with my cousin, if he investigates it, how will you explain?"

As Zhang Hao applied the medicine oil on his sister-in-law, he said, "I’m not afraid at all. If he really can’t get over it and comes after me, I’m ready to confront him head-on."

After applying the medication, Zhang Hao prepared to pack up and leave.

"I’ve booked the room for a week, sister-in-law, so you just stay here and rest easy for the next few days."

"If you need anything, just call me anytime, and I’ll bring it to you right after work."

"Also, I don’t have much cash on me, but here is my card; the PIN is my birthday."

Seeing the bank card Zhang Hao handed her, He Qianhui quickly gave it back to him.

"I have money. After scrimping and saving for so many years, I’ve managed to put away a good amount. You don’t need to worry about me financially."

But Zhang Hao still left the bank card behind.

After all, with his sister-in-law unwell, nothing would likely happen between them.

Zhang Hao hurried out of the hotel.

But when he got home, he saw his cousin, Liu Gang, who had been waiting for a long time.

Even his parents were looking at him with very serious expressions.

From their demeanor, he knew his cousin had come to complain, but Zhang Hao was not one bit intimidated.

Zhang Hao’s mother got up, took her son aside, and asked in a low voice,

"What exactly did you do to your sister-in-law? As soon as your cousin got here, he wouldn’t stop crying, saying you took Xiaohui away."
