Chapter 635: What Exactly Are You Trying to Say?

"You will get what you want." The anger and desperation in Wendy’s voice had given way to calmness as she continued, "I will hate you forever and I will kill you without a second thought if I have the chance to!"

I will hate you forever...

Those words rang in Christian’s ears and replayed in his mind over and over again.

His heart hurt terribly when he saw Wendy lying on the bed. She was not even struggling.

The doctor had already been preparing for the surgery. Christian looked at the surgical equipment approaching Wendy as she shut her eyes tightly, her tears flowing from the corner of her eyes.

Christian couldn’t help but loosen his clenched fists slightly. Was this really what he wanted? Wendy was about to lose her child and she would be in pain for the rest of her life. She would remember him forever even if it was because she hated him.

But wasn’t this what he wanted? Why, then, did he feel unhappy? As the surgical equipment neared Wendy, Zen’s pleading rang out once again, "Christian, please let Wendy off! Imagine how terrible it’d be for her if she were to lose her child."

Christian took a deep breath and clenched his fist again as he ordered coldly, "Stop!"

The doctors paused. Zen immediately heaved a sigh of relief.

Wendy opened her eyes in disbelief. She asked coldly, "What else do you want?"

"Is that how you see me?" Christian didn’t know why he bothered asking this. To Wendy, he was extremely vile and incorrigible.

"Forget it..." Just as Christian wanted to say something else, his cellphone started ringing. It was Alberto. His eyes darkened immediately. Then, he turned around and went out to take the call.

Before Alberto could speak, Christian said coldly, "Wait for me at the base, I’ll be right there." He then hung up.

The doctors were at a loss after Christian left the room. They looked at each other before looking at Wendy, who was still lying on the bed. Zen crawled beside Wendy.

She exerted tremendous effort to pull herself up by supporting herself on the bed.

She tugged at Wendy’s handcuffs a few times but realized that they wouldn’t budge.

She then said to the doctors, "Free her!"

The doctors looked at each other again, not knowing what to do.

"Sorry, but before Mr. Christian tells us to do so, we can’t," one of the doctors said.

Wendy opened her eyes and turned her head around to look at Zen. She was worried about how Zen was holding on. "Zen, how are you?"

"I’m fine, I’ll get them to release you," Zen said. She then turned to the doctors and said firmly, "Christian has already left and we don’t know when’s he’ll be back. Are you going to continue keeping her here even if he’ll be gone for days and months?"

"Well..." The doctors were in a bind.

"Release her!" Zen’s voice became more forceful as she continued, "You guys should know what Wendy is to Christian. He has already asked you to stop before he left.

Will you all take responsibility if anything happens to her because you kept her locked up?"

The doctors were persuaded. Indeed, they could see how much Wendy means to Christian.

...

The doctors felt resigned as well.

Why didn’t Christian give them clear instructions before he left?

Now Wendy was still locked on the bed, and they didn’t know whether to continue with the abortion surgery or let her go.

"Mr. Christian was just angry at the heat of the moment, so he wouldn’t find trouble with you guys once they have made up," Zen said again.

Although Wendy had always been restricted here, she still had a very high position.

They could all tell that Christian really liked Wendy.

Zen was right. They would be screwed if, by chance, Christian and Wendy made up then decided to get even with them.

"If you release Wendy now, even if Christian still decides to do something, wouldn’t it be the same when you guys do it then?" Zen then continued, "It’s not like we can run away."

The doctors had clearly been persuaded by Zen as they nodded their heads.

Afterwards, they took out the keys and unlocked the hand and legcuffs.

Wendy heaved a sigh of relief at her newfound freedom.

She immediately got off the bed and looked at Zen with concern.

Zen had blood all over her body, and her face was extremely pale.

"Help her stop her bleeding and clean her wounds!" Wendy ordered.

"Erm..." The doctors said resignedly, "Mr. Christian didn’t ask us to clean Ms. Zen’s wounds."

Wendy glanced at the doctors standing at the side before saying, "Come here."

Michael arranged this doctor here, albeit he didn’t know that this was what he was going to face when he came here.

He had also been working here in the basement these days.

Christian was an enemy to the doctor because he had always wanted to get out of here.

So he was naturally closer to Wendy than to Christian.

When he saw Zen’s body covered in injuries, he couldn’t stand by and not do anything despite being scared that Christian would settle accounts with him.

Hence, the doctor walked a few steps out and shakily said in fear, "Alright."

Zen had too many injuries in her body, so the doctor couldn’t handle everything independently.

Wendy glanced at the other doctors before coldly saying, "I’ll say this one more time, help Zen clean her wounds!"

Wendy’s voice was so authoritative and pressuring that the doctors got frightened.

Of course, they were only afraid of Wendy because of Christian.

They were afraid that Wendy might change her mind one day and take revenge on them when she got together with Christian.

The few doctors lowered their voices and discussed amongst one another.

Afterwards, all of them walked upwards.

Wendy heaved a sigh of relief at the sight of those doctors helping.

Just as she was about to say something to Zen, Zen closed her eyes and fell over.

Now that Christian had left, Wendy would be safe temporarily.

Zen had been forcing herself to stay awake by sheer willpower all along.

She finally couldn’t hold on anymore and lost consciousness.

"Zen..." Wendy reached out to pat Zen only to realize that she did not have any reactions at all.

Wendy frantically asked, "What happened to her? Quickly take a look!"

The doctors quickly did a checkup on Zen.

After a short while, the doctor said to Wendy, "Ms. Zen had just lost too much blood and lost consciousness because she doesn’t have enough strength. Her life is not in danger right now, so you don’t have to worry, Ms. Wendy."

Wendy closed her eyes and heaved a sigh of relief upon hearing that.

Zen only got injured to help her, so Wendy would never forgive herself if something had happened to Zen.

...

When Christian arrived at the base, Alberto had indeed already been waiting for him.

Alberto’s expression seemed a little strange when he saw Christian walking towards him.

He seemed somewhat disappointed but heaved a sigh of relief after that.

The two of them did not say a word, making the atmosphere between them tense.

In the end, Alberto couldn’t hold it in anymore and broke the silence, "I heard that you got injured. How are you?"

"Your source sure is accurate." Christian sneered before saying, "Not only did you know that I got injured, you even knew that I regained consciousness, and that’s why you called me."

Hearing Christian’s tone, Alberto frowned and asked, "What exactly are you trying to say?"

"I think I should be the one asking. What do you mean by that, Alberto?" Christian raised his head slightly and looked directly at Alberto fearlessly.

"Christian, what exactly are you saying? I don’t understand you at all," Alberto asked as he smiled suddenly.

"Stop pretending." Christian didn’t want to beat around the bush anymore as he said directly, "You’re the one who arranged the assassination a few days ago, right?"

"Assassination? What assassination?" Alberto sounded surprised as he asked, "You can’t be suspecting that I was the one who sent people to injure you, right?"

Alberto smiled upon seeing Christian’s icy expression as he said, "Hahaha, Christian, I should be the last person you suspect. Don’t you know how well I treat you? I’ve constantly been grooming you to be my successor.

I still took you in when you chose to come back after leaving the organization once.

If it were someone else, there was no way they could come back."

"You didn’t want to kill me, but you wanted to kill Wendy."

Christian sneered, "Am I right?"

There was a reason why Christian was suspicious of Alberto.

Rheinsville City was their base camp, after all, so it wouldn’t be easy for others to get close to Christian.

And those were all top-class assassins.

There aren’t many people in Rheinsville City who could send so many top-class assassins at once.

And Alberto was one of them.

Not only that, those assassins didn’t go after Christian that day. The person they had wanted to kill was Wendy.

Besides Alberto, Christian couldn’t think of anyone else in Rheinsville City who wanted to kill Wendy.

Additionally, those assassins ran off after Christian got injured.

If it were someone else, they would definitely take the chance to kill them when Christian got injured.

It was obvious that those killers weren’t willing to harm Christian.

Someone who wanted to kill Wendy at all costs but wasn’t willing to harm Christian.

It could only have been Alberto.

"Alberto, I have already warned you that you cannot touch Wendy." Christian asked, "Why did you still have to do it?"

"I still have no idea what you are talking about." Alberto continued to play dumb.

"You know that the fact that I dare to confront you about this meant that I have already confirmed that you did it. Alberto, there’s no need to deny it." Christian said.

Alberto’s expression turned cold as well.

He walked back and forth with the help of his walking stick.

After a while, Alberto said, "Indeed, I was the one who had sent those assassins.

Christian, I’m doing this for your own good. You are the successor of our organization, so you cannot have a weakness.

You have disappointed me greatly this time. You were willing to sacrifice your life just to save that woman.

If I wasn’t the one who had sent the assassins that day, do you think you would still be alive?"
