Chapter 571: Still Important to Her
Mr. and Mrs. Tanner’s eyes lit up instantly upon hearing what Christian said.
What the h*ll was he trying to do?
"Christian!" Mrs. Tanner was so shocked that she said hurriedly, "Zen did not want to live anymore. Yet, you are still threatening her? How would she come around this way?"
"I told you he will not help us! Yet, you didn’t believe what I said. Are you happy now after getting humiliated again?" Mr. Tanner was so furious that he was trembling vigorously. He even intended to grab Christian by his collar.
Such a pity that Mr. Tanner was too old and weak that Christian was still standing on the same spot despite that.
"Scram! Get out of my sight now! If you dare to humiliate Zen again, I will go to h*ll with you!" yelled Mr. Tanner furiously.
"You may continue to lay on the bed, but you know that there is nothing that I can’t do. If you dare to die before me, I will bury all your friends and family alive with you too!" Christian continued to say harshly by her ears as he got closer to Zen. He ignored Mr. Tanner completely.
When Mr. Tanner was about to say something, Zen’s finger moved miraculously.
Mr. Tanner then swallowed his words.
"Zen? Can you hear me, Zen?" Mr. Tanner was so excited that he threw himself beside Zen and observed her movements closely.
Mrs. Tanner rushed toward Zen too upon hearing it.
Wendy and Michael looked at each other without saying a single word.
"Zen, can you hear your parents’ voice?" said Christian coldly by her ear. "Tell me. If you die, will your parents die with you too?
Even if they manage to get over it, I will still send them over to see you in hell.
I am telling you in advance now. As soon as you die, your parents will join you in hell immediately!"
As soon as you die, your parent will accompany you to hell immediately...
This sentence had been flashing in Zen’s mind for quite some time.
Indeed, she did not want to wake up at all.
She was so disappointed with this world.
She felt like she had a long and vivid dream.
In her dream, she became a teacher in a small village with picturesque scenery.
As for Christian, he owned a small provision store in the village. All the villagers would get their necessities in his shop.
They even had a child, a three years old boy.
Usually, Christian would bring their child to the provision store while she went to work.
Every day after work, Christian would stand by the house door with the little boy while waiting for her to come home.
Zen was so happy in her dream.
She really wanted to spend the rest of her life in this dream. She did not want to wake up at all.
However, there was one person who kept mumbling by her ear. As soon as she died, he would bury all her friends and family alive with her too.
The voice sounded familiar. Zen instantly recognized it.
Suddenly, Zen’s ideal world started to collapse.
Her husband, who was carrying the boy and with a smile on his face, disappeared all of a sudden. The adorable and sensible boy vanished into thin air as well.
Even the whole village turned into ashes in the blink of an eye.
Next, countless memories flashed through her mind.
She remembered now. She intended to leave Christian, but Christian and his men stopped her at the station.
She remembered everything now.
Zen then opened her eyes gradually.
She saw the familiar yet cold face in front of her. It was Christian.
She saw her mother with her eyes welled up too, and her overjoyed father, who was so delighted upon her consciousness.
Then, she heard her father calling for the doctor excitedly.
Zen closed her eyes again after seeing all these.
She then tried hard to move her hands to touch her flat tummy.
Her tears started to flow down to her cheeks like streams.
...
Upon seeing Zen come around, Wendy and Michael looked at each other again.
It did not cross their mind that Christian would use such a means to wake Zen up.
Soon, the doctor came into the ward.
Christian took a few steps back to make space for the doctor.
The doctor did some examinations on Zen. After quite some time, the doctor breathed a sigh of relief and said, "Miss Tanner has come around. Everything seems to be normal right now. Just that, she has been unconscious for quite some time, so she needs some time to recuperate before regaining her health."
Everyone in the ward could finally breathe a sigh of relief after hearing what the doctor said.
Of course, everyone except Christian.
He did not give a damn whether Zen was dead or alive.
"Thank you, doctor. Thank you so much," Mr. and Mrs. Tanner thanked the doctor hurriedly.
The doctor smiled as he left the ward.
"Well, since Zen has come around, do all the conditions still count?" Indeed, Christian only paid attention to what he had to gain. He did not even take another glance at Zen after she came around.
"I am a man of my word," said Michael coldly. "I will contact the media to remove all news about you. Of course, I can only remove the news. As for the public opinions and discussion in the comment section, I really can’t do anything about them."
"Not a problem with that," said Christian as he smiled faintly. "Then, I shall thank my dearest brother in advance."
At that time, Wendy had already walked toward the bed. Her lips curled into a smile when she saw Zen come around.
No matter what, everything would be fine as long as she had come around.
Mrs. Tanner was so excited that she grabbed Zen’s hand as she burst into tears, "Zen, you have finally come around. If you still refuse to wake up, I would have had no choice but to go with you after you’re gone."
"In the future, cherish your life more and don’t think about ending your life anymore.
No matter what, you have to live on, okay? Daddy and Mummy will always support you no matter what. You may tell us anything, and we will go through it together, okay?" said Mr. Tanner as he wiped off his tears too.
"Don’t forget about the two conditions you agreed to just now," Christian turned around to remind them when he saw them chatting happily.
"Shut up, Christian!" Wendy turned around and stared at him fiercely as she said.
Couldn’t he keep his mouth shut for a moment now?
"Zen has just come around!" said Wendy harshly.
"I am not asking her to leave with me now," said Christian as he shrugged his shoulders. He then said calmly, "I will give her a few days to recuperate. I will be back for her after few days."
Christian walked out of the ward as soon as he finished his words.
"What did you agree to with him? What conditions?" asked Zen in a hoarse voice as she had just regained her consciousness.
"Nothing..." said Wendy hurriedly.
Wendy knew Zen better than anyone else. If she knew that she had to return to Christian’s side after she came around, she would most probably find another chance to commit suicide again.
Although Zen was sick, she was not silly at all.
She knew Christian better than anyone else too.
She swallowed hard and asked again, "What conditions have you all agree to with him?"
"Zen, rest well first to regain your health. We will talk about it when you feel better, okay?" Mrs. Tanner said as she wiped off her tears. "Is there anything you would like to eat? I can cook for you..."
After that, Mrs. Tanner said hurriedly, "I think you can’t eat anything yet. I will cook anything you want to eat for you when you get better, okay?"
Zen closed her eyes again when she realized that nobody wanted to tell her the truth.
She turned her head to the side and said in a cold and hoarse voice, "I am tired. I want to rest now. You all may go out now."
...
Wendy approached her. She intended to tell her something, but Michael pulled her back immediately.
Michael then whispered in her ear, "Zen has just come around, so it’s better to let her calm herself down first. No matter what you say to her now, she would not be listening. We will come again to visit her tomorrow."
"Alright," Wendy nodded.
She knew that Michael had made a point there.
"Uncle, Auntie, we will make a move first. We will come over again tomorrow," said Wendy as she bid them goodbye.
Mr. and Mrs. Tanner nodded their heads respectively.
Michael then held onto Wendy’s hand and left the ward.
As soon as they stepped out of the ward, Wendy breathed a sigh of relief, "Fortunately, Zen managed to come around. If she remained unconscious, I really can not imagine how devastated Uncle and Auntie would be."
"Yup. Good to see her come around," Michael sounded a little displeased.
Wendy knew Michael well. With a slight difference in his tone, Wendy knew that something was not right with Michael. Hence, she turned around and asked him, "Aren’t you happy that Zen has come around?"
"Of course, I am happy," smiled Michael.
"But you don’t seem to be happy," said Wendy in doubt as she frowned.
Michael sighed as he walked Wendy to the passenger seat. He then opened the door for her.
After he got into the car, Michael said, "Wendy, do you still remember the safe I mentioned to you before?"
Wendy nodded her head.
"Initially, I thought Zen would not come around again, so I came up with a Plan B. I intended to barge into Christian’s house to search for the safe." Michael halted as he looked into Wendy’s eyes. "Now that she has come around, by right, we should try to persuade her to help us instead. However, Christian is the one who woke her up."
Wendy knew what Michael meant by that.
Nobody was able to wake Zen up except Christian.
It also indicated that even though Zen hated Christian very much, he was still the most important person in her life.
Under such circumstances, Zen might not help them at all.
After all, Christian was involved in the drug trafficking business.
He would be sentenced to death for sure if he was found guilty.
Would Zen go against Christian with them?
"Do we still need to persuade Zen in this manner?" asked Wendy as she pursed her lips. "Moreover, Christian woke her up by threatening her. Perhaps, Zen woke up for fear that Christian would harm her parents?"
"That’s possible, but we are not sure about what is on Zen’s mind now. What if we guess wrongly and Zen reports everything to Christian accordingly? Then, we will inadvertently alert the enemy," said Michael worriedly.
Wendy hesitated before shaking her head, "I still think that Zen will not report it to Christian even if she has no intention of helping us. After all, she already knows what kind of person Christian is now. Zen is not a fool. I bet she knows what she is doing."
"We will let her rest for a while first. We will come over tomorrow to test her then," said Michael. "If she is not willing to help us, we will not force her as well."
"Alright." Wendy nodded.
As a matter of fact, Wendy still hoped that Zen would stand on their side and help them go against Christian.
However, Wendy knew that Christian was once the man Zen loved the most.
She could even sacrifice herself for him.
Wendy could understand if Zen was unwilling to help them.
