Chapter 570: Bury Your Ashes on My Land
Suddenly, Mr. Tanner saw a fruit knife on the table. He grabbed the knife and ran towards Christian.
However, he was too weak and old that his movement was not agile enough.
Christian grabbed his hand immediately, snatched away the fruit knife and threw it on the floor instantly. He then said in a cold tone, "I have already shown respect to you as I treated you as elders. If you continue to lay your hands on me, don’t blame me for being ruthless to you."
"Don’t stand on ceremony! You may just kill me as well!" Mr. Tanner shouted fiercely. "Dear, remember to report to the police when he killed me! It is absolutely worth it to drag you to hell together with me!"
"Haha..." Christian laughed out loud upon hearing what Mr. Tanner said. "You are indeed smart!"
"Christian!" Wendy said harshly. "Please show some respect to them. They are still elders!"
"If I am not showing respect to them now, based on your understanding about me, do you think that both of them would still be here?" Christian said as he smiled at Wendy.
"Haha..." Wendy smiled on purpose too. "Christian, I bet that you did not dare to do so. You know about Zen’s situation, don’t you? I am pretty sure that you do not have any confidence to wake her up too."
"You don’t have to agitate me," Christian could read Wendy’s mind instantly.
Wendy was so impatient right now.
"Give it a try if you are willing to. If not, please leave the ward now!" Wendy said as she pointed at the door. Then, she said harshly, "Don’t force me to make things turn ugly."
"Tsk, tsk, tsk..." Christian then said in a weird tone. "Mrs. Lucas, do you know the meaning of pleading for help? Is this the correct attitude when you are asking someone for help?"
"You are so mean, Christian! Zen had been by your side for so many years. She even loved you wholeheartedly. Because of you, she is lying on the bed now. Don’t you feel ashamed of what you have done to her?" Wendy said as she shook her head.
She did not know what Christian’s heart was made of that he was so heartless.
"Mrs. Lucas, are you accusing me while taking the moral high ground now?"
Christian said as he clapped his hands. His crisp clapping sound surrounded the whole ward all of a sudden.
The next moment, Mrs. Tanner approached him and knelt before him instantly.
"I beg you, I beg you," Mrs. Tanner pleaded devastatingly, "As long as you could save Zen, I am willing to be at your command unconditionally. Please save her! Save her, please..."
"Get up now! Don’t you feel embarrassed?" Mr. Tanner did not see this coming at all.
"He is the man who caused Zen in such a miserable state. How could you kneel before him and beg upon him? Don’t you feel embarrassed at all?"
"I just want my daughter back!" Mrs. Tanner burst into tears instantly. "I just want my daughter!" Christian did not expect that she would kneel before him as well.
"Is this what you want to see?" Wendy said as she pointed at Mrs. Tanner, who was kneeling on the floor, "So, you came all the way here to humiliate them?"
Christian’s eyes fluctuated all of a sudden.
However, he hid that emotion quickly.
"I can save her, but with conditions," Christian said in a cold tone as he took a glimpse at Wendy.
"How can you state the conditions when we have no idea whether you could save Zen? Aren’t you being too overconfident and overboard about this?" Wendy said.
"If you had a way, would you come and look for me?" Christian smiled. "Since this is your last resort, there is only one way for you to save Zen now. That is to agree to my conditions."
...
"Get out of here! Scram!" Mr. Tanner was a man of integrity. He could not stand the way Christian humiliated them at all.
In his eyes, Christian was the man who caused Zen to be in such a miserable state.
"Don’t be so provocative, Uncle. Listen to my conditions first. It would not take up a lot of time," Christian said in a calm manner.
His expression was so provocative that he was even smiling as he spoke.
Wendy could not wait to beat him up too.
"Name your conditions. No matter what it is, I will agree with it," Mrs. Tanner said.
Mrs. Tanner’s reaction was totally different from her husband.
Christian then glanced at Wendy again.
Just when Christian was about to say something, a man walked into the ward.
Michael Lucas.
Although he did not know Zen very well, she was still Wendy’s friend.
It was the last day today, so Michael decided to visit her.
Never did he expect that he would see Christian here.
Michael and Christian had always been hostile to each other. The moment Michael saw Christian glanced at Wendy, he stepped forth and pulled Christian away from Wendy.
He then stood in front of Wendy to block Christian’s gaze towards Wendy.
"Why are you here?" Michael asked coldly.
"Why am I here?" Christian laughed. Then, he provoked Michael purposely, "It will be better for Mrs. Lucas to answer this question for me. If I am not wrong, it was Mrs.
Lucas who called me personally to ask me to come over to the hospital."
Michael frowned as he heard what Christian said.
Soon, he figured out the reason behind all these.
There were a lot of people in the ward. However, the environment was dead silent.
Mrs. Tanner was the only person who kept pleading with him to help her, "Name your conditions. Zen could not hold on any longer..."
"Two conditions," Christian said.
"First, Zen belongs to me, and she is still mine even if she is dead. If she can wake up, she will have to stay by my side forever. She is not allowed to leave without my permission."
Wendy shook her head as she put on a hard smile upon hearing what he said.
It seemed that Michael was right about it previously.
No matter Christian loved Zen or not, she was extraordinary to Christian.
Christian still intended to take Zen away with him even though she was in such a state.
How could a man be so terrifying?
"Impossible! Don’t ever think about it!" Mr. Tanner objected instantly. "Zen ended up in the hospital because she wanted to stay out of your sight. She would definitely seek death again when she wakes up if she were to return to your side."
"That actually depends on how her friends and family counsel her." Christian did not seem to feel pity towards her at all. "If I manage to wake her up, I will be her savior.
Will it be too much for me to ask her to stay by my side forever?"
"I really do not know how you could say such nonsense," Wendy sneered.
"Aren’t you listening? Do you need me to repeat myself?" Christian said as he glanced at Wendy again. However, he could only see the hem of her clothes right now.
"What is the other condition?" Wendy did not want to listen to his nonsense anymore.
"I want you to remove all the negative news about me on social media," Christian said as his face darkened. He then said it seriously, "Rest assured. I will not ask you to apologize to me in public."
In fact, he did not give a damn on his reputation. However, Mr. Zavier, who was cooperating with him on the project, cared about this negative feedback on social media.
Once they removed the entertainment news, people would tend to forget about it gradually over time.
Christian knew Michael’s baseline well.
If Christian requested Michael to apologize to him in public about the slanders, Michael would not agree to it for sure.
...
Zen was Wendy’s friend, but she was not Michael’s friend.
Furthermore, Zen had betrayed Wendy countless times.
It was already a compromise from Michael if he agreed to remove all the negative news from social media.
Christian knew what he was doing.
"Do we need to thank you too?" sneered Michael. "Zen has nothing to do with me.
Do you think I will agree with you on this?"
Christian knew what Michael would say in such a situation. Therefore, he turned around and looked at Mrs. Tanner instead.
He knew that Mrs. Tanner would agree to anything unconditionally in order to save Zen.
Moreover, she would not give up on any slim chance to save her daughter.
Therefore, Christian shrugged his shoulder and said helplessly, "Well, not that I don’t want to help Zen. Now, you are the one who disagrees with the conditions I have set out. So, there is nothing I can do too."
"Wait! We will do as you said." Mrs. Tanner did not know what news Christian was talking about at all.
She turned around and looked at Michael right away. In fact, she did not know who Michael was at all.
However, she roughly guessed that he was with Wendy.
Mrs. Tanner walked toward Michael and knelt before him without hesitation. "Please agree to him. If you agree to him, I am willing to be at your command."
Michael did not see this coming at all. He never expected Mrs. Tanner to kneel before him.
She was Zen’s mother, and she was his elder after all.
Michael helped her up immediately. "Please get up first, Auntie."
"No, I am not going to do so if you don’t promise me," Mrs. Tanner cried as she shook her head vigorously.
"Well..." Michael turned around to look at Wendy helplessly.
Wendy lowered her head and sighed, "Forget it. Just promise her then. After all, the news has already gone viral."
At this point, Michael could not say anything further. He nodded his head and said, "All right, I promise you."
"Thank you, thank you so much," Mrs. Tanner kept thanking him.
They helped Mrs. Tanner up and said to Christian, "We have agreed to all your conditions. If you are unable to wake Zen up, you have to pay a price too, right?"
"What do you want then?" asked Christian.
"If you are unable to wake Zen up, you have to cut off your other finger," Wendy could not think of anything else at that particular moment.
It was too absurd that she thought that Christian would not agree to it for sure.
Never did she expect Christian to laugh upon hearing what she casually said.
He raised his left hand and looked at the remaining four fingers. Then, he agreed with Wendy instantly without hesitation, "All right."
Upon hearing the answer, Wendy did not feel happy at all. On the contrary, she was terrified.
How could he rashly put his fingers at stake? Didn’t it bother him at all?
After answering Wendy’s question, Christian walked toward Zen without waiting for anyone to speak further.
Christian twitched his mouth as he looked at the woman with a pale face on the bed, "You have been with me for so many years. Why didn’t you learn anything from me?
Don’t you know that human beings are lonely creatures in this world? No one will live forever. Therefore, you must always prioritize yourself.
Well. Don’t you think that you are so stupid to die for a man?
Forget that the man is me. No matter who the man is, it is not worth it at all! It is not worth it for you to commit suicide for a man at all!
Frankly speaking, I despise you, Zen! You are such a coward!
Do you think you will be able to get out of my sight by lying here?
Fat chance, I am telling you.
Even if you die, I will snatch your body and bury your ashes on my land!"
