Chapter 464: Alright, Cut It Out
"Wendy’s right, Michael, have mercy."
Todd immediately followed and advised Michael.
"Sis," Jill pleaded, "will you let my dad go, and I’ll work the rest of my life to repay you?"
"Michael ..." Wendy grabbed him by the sleeve and pleaded on behalf of Timothy, "let’s end it here, shall we?"
Michael pursed his lips in silence and did not speak again.
According to Michael’s character, anyone who has ever hurt Wendy will not be off the hook so easily.
Even so, Wendy is unwilling to let Timothy die here, and Michael can’t kill him off as well.
After a while, Michael wrapped his arm around Wendy’s shoulders and said faintly, "Alright, I’ll do as you say."
Although Wendy knew Michael would listen to her, she was relieved to hear him gave his word.
Wendy then walked up to Timothy, looking at him who is on his knee, and sighed, "Mentor, this is the last time that I greet you in such a manner. From this moment on, you take care of yourself."
With that being said, Wendy then remain silent.
She turned around and left the office.
Once Wendy left, Michael followed her with his bodyguard.
Instead of leaving right away, Todd walked up and went to help Timothy up.
Todd was bummed that things turned out this way.
Timothy completely lost his dignity by getting down on his knee begging for mercy.
Timothy was not as angry as before after seeing Todd.
He was much more calmer.
After the bodyguards left, Jill and Rosa also broke free from their control immediately ran to Timothy.
The two of them hugged Timothy.
Todd watched as the three of them hugged each other and broke into tears.
Timothy was in tears, holding Jill with one arm and Rosa with the other, his tone was choked up, "I told you to leave, why did you stay?
Are you all fools? I have lost everything, you should all stay away from me."
"We are a family, you are my husband, and we agreed to carry on together for the rest of our lives.
How can I leave you behind, at a time like this?"
Rosa cried and said, "Even if I have to die, I will stay with you."
"Dad, although I usually go against you, I know that you love me very much.
You only have me as your daughter, and if I leave you during this time, there will be no one to take care of you," said Jill.
Timothy was moved.
For the first time, he knew that his wife and daughter, both loved him so much.
In the past, he was preoccupied with his work and owed his wife and daughter too much.
In the future, he must make up for them.
I’m just afraid he won’t have much time at his disposal.
"Even if they let me off the hook today, I don’t have much time left as a ’free man.
I’ve committed a felony, and I may not have many days left to live."
Timothy’s tone was mixed with sadness.
"No matter how much time you have left, we’ll be there for you."
Rosa said, "Now that HG Enterprise is gone, think of it as a vacation, we as a family should get along together.
As long as we’re together, no matter how much time is left, even if it’s just one day, we will still be happy, aren’t we?"
In the past, Timothy may not have known the meaning of the word ’happiness’.
Now that he is holding his wife and daughter, he finally gets it.
At this moment, he realized that a lifetime of success and fame can not compare with the warmth of a family spending time together.
Todd watched the Timothy family reunite and couldn’t bear to interrupt them.
He sighed in silence before leaving the office.
...
After Wendy and Michael left the office, she and Michael walked side by side.
Wendy was depressed and said, "Thank you, Michael."
"Why thank me?" Michael was confused.
"Thank you for letting Timothy off the hook."
Wendy knew that Michael was about to kill him, and she said, "I hope that you won’t bother Timothy and his family in the future, either."
Wendy is worried that although Michael has spared Timothy today, afterward, he will find someone to kill Timothy.
Now that Timothy is no longer in business, if he disappears without a reason, or died.
I’m afraid that no one will track his whereabouts.
Needless to say, Wendy knew Michael very well.
Michael did have the intention to kill.
But now that Wendy had said so, there is no way for Michael to do it during the broad daylight.
Michael without a doubt denied the thoughts of killing Timothy, he laughed and said, "Timothy is no longer relevant and I have better things to do instead of killing him or even looking him up.
Besides, the Rheinsville City court is going to investigate him sooner or later, I’m not in a hurry, just wait and see what happens to him."
"No matter what, he still taught and nurtured me. Although he had bad intentions, he never hurt me. He truly loves the two kids, Jake and Leah. He’s no longer a threat to us now, so leave them alone."
Wendy turned to Michael looking at him.
Michael sighed in helplessness after hearing Wendy.
He held Wendy by her hand with a smile, coax her like a kid, "Alright then, I promise you that I won’t do anything to them behind your back."
"OK," Wendy replied with a smile.
She was about to thank Michael but he guessed what she was going to say and immediately preempted her by saying, "Stop thanking me, or I will not agree."
"Okay, I won’t say thank you."
Wendy is even happier.
"However there must be some sort of appreciation isn’t it?" Michael lowered his head slightly, turned his face to Wendy’s side, and pointed his finger at his cheek.
This couldn’t be more obvious.
Wendy instantly flushed.
She is a mother of two and still feels shy when she is occasionally being teased by Michael.
"Stop it, we’re still at HG Enterprise." Wendy reached out and pushed Michael away.
"There are not many people left at HG Enterprise, and the ones that are there are my bodyguards." said, Michael.
Upon hearing the word ’bodyguard’, something suddenly struck Wendy which lead her to turn back and take a look immediately.
Without any surprise, there are ten of them following behind her.
The bodyguards were smart.
The moment they saw Wendy turned back, all of them immediately turn back as well.
They acted as if they saw nothing and nothing was happening.
For an instant, Wendy blushes in embarrassment.
Looking at her blushed face, Michael felt better already.
The bodyguards who turned around just happened to block Todd who was just coming out.
Todd saw the intimate connection between Wendy and Michael clenching his fist in anger and dislike.
Whatever happened in Rheinsville City is pretty much settled.
It looks like Wendy is going to follow Michael back to Lake City.
If Wendy left, what will happen to Todd?
Todd might not have any more chances to meet Wendy ever again.
He can’t just let Wendy leave without giving a shot.
Todd increases his pace and catches up with them.
Todd walked through the bodyguard to Wendy, as if nothing happened, smiled, and said to Wendy, "Corrine, you guys walk so fast, I almost can’t keep up."
...
Michael was speechless. He rolled his eyes after listening to what Todd just said.
Michael got ahead of Wendy and replied to Todd deliberately, "We weren’t planning on waiting for you either."
His reply momentarily left Todd at a loss for words.
Todd laughed awkwardly and said, "I guess I wasn’t invited then."
"That’s not what he meant, Todd." Wendy was trying to help Michael by explaining, "He’s..."
Michael didn’t wait for Wendy to finish speaking. He continued, "It’s great that you understand."
Wendy pinched Michael at his waist. She didn’t use much force, it was a nudge to remind him not to be rude.
Michael said, "My dear wife, how do you know that I needed a scratch there?" Looks like we are telepathic."
"No, we are not," replied Wendy.
This time around it was Wendy who gave Michael a blank stare. "Can you speak nicely to Todd? Stop fooling around. Todd has helped us a lot, even if you don’t thank him, why do you need to pick on him all the time."
"I wasn’t, I was just telling the truth," Michael said. "Aren’t we going home now? Mr.
Lewis is busy with his work, and he must be anxious to return to the Lewis Design Company. Besides, we are heading in a different direction, and we might chat a bit which will definitely delay his work, isn’t it? Todd wouldn’t like this."
Wendy didn’t know what to say. But Todd was unfazed. He pretended not to understand what Michael was implying. He looked at his watch and said, "It’s almost 5:00, so it is time for dinner. I know a new restaurant not too far away from here that serves great food, let’s have a meal together."
"No thanks Mr. Lewis, me and my wife are going to have dinner tonight, once again thank you for the invitation." Michael immediately declined his invitation.
However, Todd ignored Michael and looked at Wendy, asking her softly, "The restaurant serves your favorite food, do you want to try it?"
Wendy glanced at Michael. Although Wendy didn’t know why Michael and Todd were currently at loggerheads, she knew that in this situation, it would be a bit awkward for the three of them to have dinner together.
After hesitating, Wendy wondered how to answer Todd.
However, before she could say anything, Todd said again, "You should be leaving Rheinsville City soon, so there will be fewer opportunities for us to see each other.
We’ve been friends for so many years, you won’t turn down my invitation, will you?"
Wendy didn’t know how to refuse. If everything went smoothly, Wendy would indeed be going back to Lake City with Michael. There was no reason for her to continue her stay at Rheinsville City.
However, she recalled that Todd had previously stopped himself from saying something. Michael and Todd were obviously hiding something from her.
Wendy planned to clarify with Todd before she left.
But it’s not the right time to ask. After all, Michael was here.
"It’s just a candlelight dinner. When you get back home, you can enjoy it with Michael as much as you want," Todd smiled and said. "Come on hop in."
"Sure." Wendy had no reason to refuse Todd’s invitation.
"Wendy..." Michael tried to persuade Wendy.
But he was interrupted by Todd, "Mr. Lucas, if you don’t want to join us, you don’t have to."
Of course, he didn’t want to go, but he couldn’t leave Wendy alone with Todd.
...
"I don’t want to go, but since my wife insists, I as her husband must accompany her.
Don’t you think so, Mr. Lewis?" Michael deliberately emphasized the words "wife" and "husband".
Todd frowned but his expression did not change. He said with a smile, "I think it’s not quite right. Even for a married couple, there must be some kind of personal space. Otherwise, it’s too tiring to be your wife. If I have a wife in the future, I’ll give her some personal space when appropriate."
"Hey, Mr. Lewis, I definitely agree on the use of the word ’appropriate’."
Todd’s words did not leave Michael dumbfounded. Michael continued, "I certainly do give my wife enough personal space, but this is inappropriate, isn’t it? Mr. Lewis, don’t you think you’re being inappropriate?"
"Are you suspicious of me?" Todd turned his head and glanced at Wendy and said, "I have known Corrine for so many years, and I have been in contact with her more than you did, Mr. Lucas."
"It’s a pity, what’s the use of having more contact time? I met Wendy long before you did." Michael refused to back down.
Wendy feeling helpless looking at both of them going against each other again.
"Alright, cut it out," Wendy sighed and said. "Let’s go together, Michael and I need to have dinner anyway."
After saying that Wendy walked out of HG Enterprise without paying heed to their bickering. Michael and Todd eventually followed suit.
There were lots of reporters gathered in front of HG Enterprise. There seemed to be more reporters than before at the entrance. As soon as they saw Wendy emerge with Todd and Michael, the reporters rushed forward.
"Ms. Swift, may I ask what you’re doing here at HG Enterprise today?"
"Is it true that Mr. Timothy Woods is still in the office?"
"Rumor has it that Mr. TImothy Woods hasn’t eaten anything for several days, is that true?"
"Mr. Lewis , what is your relationship with Corrine now?
What kind of relationship do you have with Mr. Lucas now?"
"Who is Ms. Swift with currently? Mr. Lucas or Mr. Lewis?"
"Is the crisis HG Enterprise currently facing caused by Ms. Swift and Mr. Lucas?"
Wendy was a little annoyed at those questions. Michael’s bodyguards immediately stepped forward and opened a path to block the reporters.
Wendy and Michael quickly tried to shake off the reporters. Todd followed behind them.
Michael turned his head and glanced at Todd. Then, he gave a wink to Mr. York by the side. Mr. York had worked with Michael for many years and he knew his boss very well.
Mr. York paused and immediately said to the other bodyguards, "Protect only the boss and his wife." He gestured for them to let Todd get caught within the throng of reporters.
The bodyguards immediately understood what they needed to do. The next second, Todd was stopped by the bodyguards. Todd was initially only a few steps away from Wendy. Now, he was separated by the reporters and the bodyguards. There were too many reporters and it was too chaotic. Wendy did not notice if Todd was following them.
"Mr. Lewis, haven’t you and Corrine broken up? Why would you even show up with her now?"
"Is it because Mr. Lucas is trying to get back together with Corrine, and you don’t want that?"
"Mr. Lewis, could you tell us what’s your plan in the near future?"
"Mr. Lewis, would you use the resources of Lewis Design Company to help HG Enterprise make a comeback?
"Would you help them, considering how HG Enterprise has nurtured you?"
