Chapter 265: Dinner
After hearing these words, Wendy smiled lightly and said, "Everyone has been working hard lately, but Mr. Woods is here, so why don’t I ask Mr. Woods for a bonus for everyone?"
If it was the old Wendy, none of these employees would have dared to joke with her.
They couldn’t even laugh when they were working.
Four years ago, a designer who followed Wendy’s team was fired by Wendy directly because he read a comic book to relax during working hours and accidentally laughed out loud.
At that time, that designer was highly valued by Wendy, who said that he had a talent for design and that his future was bright if he worked hard.
Everyone thought that this meant that Wendy appreciated this designer, and he might have the opportunity to be a disciple.
However, it didn’t take long for the rumor that he was fired by Wendy herself to emerge.
The reason for his dismissal was because he laughed at a comic book during working hours.
Design work was already very boring, and sometimes it was necessary to look at other things to relax and find inspiration.
Once this happened, no one dared to laugh in front of Wendy anymore. Of course, they could not see Wendy’s smile either.
At most, when they met with clients, they would smile politely. But the last half month of contact, everyone knew that Wendy had changed.
Her character was completely different from before.
Although she still worked very hard, even more than before, she would smile, nod, and respond to employees who greeted her.
Sometimes she even showed concern that they would not be able to endure too much overtime work and so on.
Nowadays, Wendy was naturally more liked by the design team under her, and they would usually joke with her to relax and unwind.
Wendy not only didn’t reprimand them like before, but also said she would help them get bonuses.
"Mr. Woods, you see our team working so hard, so shouldn’t we give out some bonuses?" Wendy smiled and spoke to Timothy.
"Bonuses for all!" Timothy laughed out loud and was very generous.
"Thank you, Miss Swift, and thank you, Mr. Woods."
"With the bonus to take home, my wife won’t complain about me coming home late every day."
"Hahahahahaha, I guess your wife will tell you not to come back and just come back with more bonuses."
The atmosphere was relaxed and harmonious.
The meeting was over, and the designers left the conference room after saying thank you.
Timothy looked at Wendy with appreciation in his eyes, gave her a thumbs up and said, "You really gave me a big surprise once again by drawing the first draft of this project in just half a month. I thought it would take you at least a month to do it."
Todd also smiled and said, "I read the design draft. The first draft is very good and with some minor revisions, it’s basically ready. The style elements of the design are what modern young people like. This collection will definitely sell out when it goes on the market."
"You guys aren’t just here to compliment me, are you?" Wendy smiled and shook her head as she spoke.
"Of course not." Todd passed his hand over to Wendy to check the time and said, "What time is it?"
Wendy glanced at it and realized it was almost twelve o’clock.
"You haven’t had lunch yet, have you?" The smile on Todd’s face sank and was replaced by concern. He reached over and put his hand on her shoulder and sighed as he said, "If Timothy and I don’t come, are you going to skip lunch again?"
"I... " Wendy smiled as she said, "I’ve already eaten."
"Who are you trying to fool?" Todd said, "I asked your assistant before we got here, and you didn’t even eat. Not only did you not eat dinner, but you only ate a few bites for lunch."
Wendy was a little embarrassed when her lie was exposed.
"Actually, it’s mostly because I’m not very hungry." Wendy smiled and said, "I eat snacks and stuff when I’m hungry, so I’m not hungry when it’s time for the main meal. Don’t worry, it’s fine."
"You’re fine?" Todd looked even more sullen and said, "You used to like to drink black coffee on an empty stomach, so your stomach is already weak. If you don’t eat properly this time, you’ll be in the hospital in three days, not to mention three months."
Todd looked at Wendy’s face with some heartache.
Wendy’s face was full of fatigue and dark circles under her eyes.
In fact, as soon as Todd entered the conference room, he wanted to ask Wendy to go to dinner first, and the meeting would be held when she returned.
But Timothy stopped him by saying that it was better to let Wendy finish the meeting, otherwise it might take more time to reopen it after interrupting it.
Todd took a chocolate out of his pocket and placed it close to Wendy’s mouth with a bit of bossiness in his voice as he said, "Open your mouth."
Wendy was a little embarrassed by the chocolate near her lips.
After a moment of hesitation, she opened her mouth and ate the chocolate.
Todd then fed her a second one.
After watching Wendy finish it, Todd said again, "Come on, let’s go to dinner. The restaurant is already booked, so you can just go over there and eat. After you eat, go home, and get a good night’s sleep, and don’t come back to the office."
Todd continued, "I used to be told that I was hardworking, but you’re even more hardworking than I am."
Wendy knew he was worried about her, so she nodded slightly and said, "Thanks."
The restaurant Todd had booked was naturally a high-end restaurant, and the ambience and taste were first class.
As soon as they arrived, the food was served.
Todd gave her some food and put it in a bowl and said, "Eat more, you’ve lost weight in the past two weeks."
Wendy was about to say thank you when her phone rang.
She looked at the caller ID and saw that it was Michael calling.
Wendy smiled and pushed the answer button.
"Are you asleep?" Michael’s side was at noon at this time, and he hesitated to make this call for a long time.
He was afraid that Wendy was already resting, and it would be bad if he woke her up.
But if he didn’t, he was worried that Wendy would still be working and might stay up late.
"No." Wendy said, "I’m out to dinner with Timothy and Todd."
"Out to dinner this late?" Michael frowned and sounded a little worried. In fact, he was mainly worried about Todd.
As if Wendy knew what he was thinking, she smiled and said, "I’ll turn on the video."
After saying that, Wendy started the video.
Soon, the video was connected, and Wendy didn’t hold the video to herself, but to Todd and Timothy and the big table of food with a smile on her face as she said, "It’s Todd’s treat today. See, it’s not bad, right?"
"It is pretty good." Michael saw that Timothy was indeed there and said with a smile, "Thank Todd for me for taking care of you these days, and the next time he comes to Lake City, I’ll treat him to dinner."
"Mr. Lucas, that’s not right to say. Corrine has been our friend for so many years. You are thanking me? I don’t need your thanks," Todd laughed as he spoke.
