Chapter 264: She Used To Be Such A Person?
After Wendy put her luggage away, she followed Todd and Timothy to eat together.
At the dining table, Timothy kept apologizing, making Wendy a little uncomfortable instead.
After the meal, Todd sent her home and accompanied her to learn about the surrounding environment.
After sending Todd away, Wendy took a soothing shower and then laid down on her bed and made a video call to Michael.
This time, Leah finally held back her tears, but the sound of her calling her mummy still caused Wendy to feel some heartache.
Timothy originally gave Wendy three days to rest and let her adjust to jet lag before starting work. But Wendy wanted to get the project on track quickly, so the next day, she went to work.
"Miss Swift, welcome back to HG."
"Miss Swift, good morning."
"Miss Swift, good morning."
Along the way, the HG employees Wendy met greeted her respectfully and politely.
Wendy nodded in response one by one, and those employees were incredulous when they got Wendy’s response.
"Did Miss Swift just nod her head to me?"
"I think she just said morning to me?"
"Wow, I’m not dreaming. Miss Swift was even colder than our president, but now she’s actually responding to us?"
Wendy listened to their whispering and frowned slightly.
She used to be that cold?
"Miss Swift, I’m your assistant. Please follow me to your office on the seventeenth floor." The assistant was a man in his thirties in a suit with his head slightly bowed and a formal smile on his face.
"Thank you." Wendy nodded slightly to express her gratitude, then lifted her foot and walked ahead.
The assistant froze in place for a moment when he heard this thank you from Wendy.
He had heard that Wendy had lost her memory, but he didn’t expect that her personality had changed.
Wendy just said thank you?
"Why aren’t you coming?" Wendy looked back and saw the assistant frozen in place and was somewhat puzzled.
"I’ll go, go, go right away." The assistant immediately followed and made an inviting gesture.
After arriving at the office, Wendy surveyed the once familiar and now unfamiliar place.
"Miss Swift, you just came back to HG. You may not be familiar with many places yet, so my main task today is to show you around HG," the assistant said.
There was a knock on the office door, and a woman in formal wear walked in.
She carried a cup of coffee with a smile and placed it in front of Wendy’s desk and said, "Miss Swift, your hand-ground black coffee, no sugar and no milk added to it. Try it and see if it tastes the way you like. If you don’t like it, I’ll regrind it right away."
Wendy picked up the coffee and took a sip. The bitterness immediately made her spit it out. She remembered that she didn’t like black coffee.
Seeing this, the female assistant was so scared that she immediately bowed her head respectfully and said with a trembling tone, "I’m sorry Miss Swift, I’ll go and regrind it right away."
After saying that, the female assistant immediately carried the rest of the coffee and went out.
Looking at the back of the female assistant, Wendy opened her mouth slightly and was somewhat confused.
She reached out and pointed at the direction where the female assistant disappeared to and asked the male assistant, "What’s going on here? Wasn’t she fine just now?"
The male assistant also lowered his head and didn’t dare to look at Wendy.
Because in the past, Wendy would be angry.
The others were vulnerable to being caught in the crossfire.
When the male assistant heard Wendy’s question, he quietly lifted his head and looked at Wendy’s expression.
Seeing that she was not angry, he then boldly said, "Miss Swift, don’t you know what’s going on?"
Wendy looked confused and said, "What do I know?"
"This... " The male assistant coughed lightly, not sure if it was better to tell the truth.
"Just say it." Wendy saw his desire to say something.
Since Wendy had already said so, the male assistant had the courage to say the truth, "Miss Swift, you used to drink only pure artisan black coffee, and the more bitter, the better. The assistant just now is your former assistant, and the one who has been with you for the longest time.
"The previous assistants were all dismissed by you because of bad coffee grinding. Of course, that assistant was also reprimanded by you many times because of coffee. As long as the taste was a little bit wrong, you would be angry. Just now you took a sip of coffee and threw up, so she got scared."
"Huh?" Wendy was a little incredulous after hearing the male assistant’s words.
She reached up and scratched her head with her eyes slightly downcast. She used to be such a person?
Thinking about the voices of those employees talking about her just now, Wendy realized that she might indeed have been a grumpy person before.
Wendy raised her head, looked at the male assistant with some embarrassment, smiled and said, "Actually my temper is not that bad. You can tell her that I don’t blame her, and I just don’t like to drink black coffee. Next time, ask her to prepare juice because black coffee is too bitter."
"Huh?" This time, it was the male assistant who was surprised, "Didn’t you used to drink a cup of black coffee first thing when you came to the office every day? You also had to drink a cup at night when you worked overtime."
"People’s habits always change, right? Oh... " Wendy laughed more and more awkwardly.
"Oh, yes, yes." The male assistant hurriedly nodded in response.
After the awkward conversation ended, the male assistant took Wendy to get familiar with HG.
In the afternoon, Timothy held a meeting, a welcome party specifically for Wendy.
And the gossip about Wendy spread through the company in a day’s time.
"Hey, have you seen Miss Swift? She’s become so kind and polite now, and she’ll smile at me and nod at me."
"I haven’t seen, but I heard about it. Isn’t today Miss Swift’s first day back at HG? Her assistant said she doesn’t drink black coffee anymore."
"Miss Swift’s preference for black coffee is well-known throughout the company, and I’ve heard that it’s what she drinks to get inspired. She doesn’t drink it anymore? She wouldn’t run out of inspiration, would she?"
"Don’t talk nonsense. Miss Swift simply doesn’t like the bitter taste of black coffee. Besides, didn’t Miss Swift lose her memory? There may be some changes in personality as well, but I believe Miss Swift’s designing ability must be top notch."
"In any case, today’s Miss Swift is a different person compared to the one six months ago. But I like her like that."
"Hmm? I still prefer the old Miss Swift who doesn’t smile, is cold and has few words."
"You’re a masochist, aren’t you?"
"She’s not masochistic. She just hasn’t had much contact with Miss Swift in her job and hasn’t experienced Miss Swift’s raging temper. You let her try as Miss Swift’s assistant for a few days, oh no, to be precise, try to be the former Miss Swift’s assistant and she will cry."
Wendy didn’t even know she was two-faced.
***
After officially coming back to HG, Wendy went full steam ahead into work.
The name of HG’s newly developed project was called Meet You.
Timothy wanted to create a new brand of clothing for modern women.
The type of style was varied, ranging from cute and sweet style to cool and edgy style.
If this project was taken over by Wendy with all her might, then in half a year she could have designed the first phase of clothing and launched it on the market. But she only came back for three months.
What she needed to do in these three months was to build a team.
She positioned the direction of the clothing design and set the theme for each issue.
Then she decided on a sample for the first issue.
As for the latter, Wendy couldn’t do anything about it.
There was no way she could stay at HG and keep leading this project.
However, Wendy knew that Timothy would let her follow up on the project.
Wendy had read the plan of this project. The whole investment was three billion, which was no small amount.
HG was putting most of its capital into this project.
In other words, Timothy wouldn’t allow anything to go wrong with this project.
Wendy had thought about what Michael had said before, and it was likely that after three months, Timothy would not let her go.
After all, there were very few people who could take over her design project.
Even after taking over the project, it would be difficult to guarantee the quality.
But Wendy couldn’t refuse. She had to return the favor.
Wendy planned to return to the country after the first phase of the prototype was finalized.
If she insisted, Timothy would not be able to keep her.
However, it was likely that he would step back and let Wendy continue to lead the project in Lake City.
As long as the project was on track, Wendy would not have to stay at the office every day, and she could just fly back when there was something important.
During the week, she could work in Lake City by video.
This was something Wendy had thought about.
As long as Wendy wasn’t forced to stay at HG, it didn’t matter if she worked a little harder to continue leading the project.
When the project was finished, Wendy would have returned some of the favor to Timothy.
In order to get the project on track sooner, Wendy was practically sleeping in the office.
She was busy all the time, day and night. On average, she held three meetings a day.
Except for the meeting time, she spent all her time drawing designs.
This day, she was halfway through the meeting when she saw Timothy and Todd walk in.
Wendy saw this and was about to pause the meeting.
Timothy smiled, waved his hand, and said, "Go ahead, we’re just here to listen."
Wendy nodded and went on to talk about the first issue of the costume theme.
As she spoke, Wendy’s eyes suddenly drifted off, and in the crowd, she seemed to have seen Michael walk in with a smile on his face.
Wendy shook her head slightly, but he was not in front of her eyes.
Wendy’s eyes darkened for a moment, and Wendy was a little disappointed. Then, her smile grew wider and wider, as if she was deliberately hiding something.
When the meeting ended, a large applause rang out from the crowd.
"Miss Swift, you are amazing."
"Your design talent is something we probably won’t be able to catch up with in our lifetime."
"I’m glad I was chosen to be part of the design team for this project. In just half a month, I feel like I’ve learned more from following Miss Swift than I have in the past three years."
"I also worked more overtime than I did in the previous three years."
"Hahahahahahahaha, yeah, I don’t get more than six hours of sleep a night."
"What’s all the complaining about? Miss Swift is living directly in the company."
