Chapter 254: We Need To Talk About It
"Timothy, you are already in Lake City, aren’t you?" Wendy asked with certainty.
She really hoped Timothy was joking with her.
"I’m at the airport in Lake City right now. I just got off the plane." Timothy said in a deep, serious tone, "I’m here in Lake City because of your business, and I think we might need to meet and talk about it."
Wendy didn’t expect that Timothy would come to Lake City in person. It seemed that HG really wanted her to go back. This made things even more difficult for Wendy.
"Then wait at the airport. I’ll pick you up." Wendy quickened her pace as she followed Michael.
After she hung up the phone, Wendy said apologetically, "Mom, I’m sorry. I have to pick up someone at the airport so let Michael take you home, okay? I’ll be right back."
Initially, Wendy had thought that she would go back and talk to Mary for a while before taking her out for a walk in the afternoon.
But Timothy was not just anyone.
He came to Lake City himself, so Wendy couldn’t refuse to pick him up. "It’s okay, go ahead and get busy," Mary said with a smile.
"I’m sorry, Mom."
"There’s nothing to be sorry about. Mom knows you’re busy. We’re all family, so why are we talking about this?" Mary patted Wendy’s shoulder and said, "Go ahead."
Wendy turned her head to Michael and said, "Timothy is here. He’s at the airport right now, so I have to go."
Michael had wondered who had come to Lake City that Wendy had to leave her mother to pick this person up. It turned out to be Timothy.
The purpose of Timothy’s visit to Lake City was obvious.
In fact, this matter should be handled by Michael too.
Otherwise, Wendy would easily be persuaded by Timothy with the emotional card. But now that Mary was here and there were two children, Michael definitely could not go.
Pursing his lips, Michael said with some concern, "Let’s bring Mr. Woods to the house because we have Zess cooking a lot of food today. If there is anything, you can ask him to come home and talk with you."
"My mom is here, so it’s not a good idea for me to bring Timothy over," Wendy said with some awkwardness.
Mary didn’t come to the house very often.
And although Timothy was Wendy’s mentor, he had nothing to do with Mary.
And what they talked about was also business affairs.
If Mary heard it, it would make her uneasy.
"It’s okay, it’s okay, I’m really okay." Mary was also a little embarrassed and felt that she had come at an inconvenient time, so she said, "You guys go about your business without me. If you’re all busy, I’ll just take a taxi back with the two kids."
"Mom, it’s hard for me when you say that," Wendy bit her lip with mixed feelings.
"Let’s decide on this. You bring Timothy to the house. He’s your mentor, so it’s only right for him to come to the house as a guest." Michael couldn’t follow Wendy, so he had to let Timothy come to the house.
"Okay." Wendy didn’t know how to face Timothy alone, anyway.
By bringing him to the house, she could have some peace of mind with Michael around.
After this decision, Michael took the two children and Mary home.
Wendy went to the airport to pick up Timothy.
The station was not too far from the airport, so Wendy took a taxi and arrived in half an hour.
Timothy found a seat at the airport and waited for Wendy.
Wendy looked for him but didn’t know which one was Timothy. After all, she hadn’t remembered Timothy’s face.
It was Timothy who saw Wendy and waved to her first as he said, "Corrine... "
Wendy looked to the source of the voice and saw a man in his fifties dressed in formal wear smiling and calling out to her.
"Timothy, I’m sorry that you came to Lake City personally for my sake," Wendy’s tone was apologetic after she received Timothy.
"You’re the one who didn’t agree to come back." Timothy said with a bitter smile, "I was forced to do so."
"Let’s not talk about that. It’s mealtime, and my mom is in Lake City today, while Michael is not at work. Let’s have a casual meal at our house."
Timothy had been in the business world for so many years that he immediately understood what Wendy meant by this. He laughed and said, "Are you so afraid that I will abduct you back that Mr. Lucas will have to personally supervise our conversation?"
"This... " said Wendy, who was embarrassed to be exposed. "How could that be? Michael wanted to thank you in person for taking care of me all those years."
"I miss my two god-grandchildren too." Timothy also knew to give people a way out.
Wendy took Timothy straight home with her.
When Leah and Jake saw Timothy, they all gathered around.
"God-grandfather... "
Leah’s sweet voice made Timothy smile instantly.
Timothy reached out and picked up Leah, then touched Jake’s little head and said with a smile, "Did you guys miss God-grandfather?"
"Of course, we did." The two little ones answered in unison.
During their five years in Rheinsville City, Timothy took good care of the three of them.
Many times, when Wendy was busy working and didn’t have time to take care of Leah and Jake, it was Timothy who took care of them.
During their five years in Rheinsville City, these two little ones spent half of their time at Timothy’s house.
This time they had been in Lake City for so long, so how could they not miss Timothy?
"Mr. Woods... " Michael came over and looked at Timothy holding the children, so he didn’t reach out to shake hands but said with a faint smile, "It’s my first time meeting you. I’ve heard a lot about you."
"Mr. Lucas, you’re too polite." Timothy put Leah on the ground and said, "Your wife calls me Godfather, while your son and daughter also call me God-grandfather. The first time we meet, you say you’ve heard a lot about me. It’s too formal."
"This... " Timothy’s words made the atmosphere quite awkward.
Should Michael follow Wendy and call him Godfather?
For their first meeting, Michael could not bring himself to do so.
"I’m just kidding." When Timothy saw Michael’s appearance, he laughed out loud and said, "It smells good. I’m hungry. Thank you, Mr. Lucas, for your hospitality today."
"The food and wine are ready, so let’s have a drink," Michael immediately made a gesture of invitation.
Mary came out of the kitchen with the dishes and said with a smile, "The last one is fish soup. The fish was caught by the people in my town. They knew I was coming to visit you and asked me to bring you some specialties or something. I... "
Mary’s words were all caught in her throat when she saw Timothy.
The fish soup bowl in her hands dropped to the floor with a clatter.
Wendy said, "Mom!"
Wendy took a big step over to Mary and hurriedly checked to see if she was hurt as she said, "Mom, did you burn yourself? Does it hurt anywhere?"
However, Mary did not hear Wendy’s words at this moment.
Wendy said, "Mom?"
Wendy thought Mary was startled and reached out to nudge her a little.
Mary came back to her senses and lowered her eyes slightly as she swallowed hard,
but her heart was pounding.
