Chapter 249: Some People Will Never Experience This
Ten o’clock soon arrived.
According to the flow of the event, from ten o’clock to twelve o’clock, these two hours were for kindergarten activities organized by the school.
Kindergarten was divided into three classes: small, medium, and large.
Leah and Jake were students of the middle class, and Leah was naturally the lead dancer of the middle class.
There was a group dance performance by each of the three classes at the beginning, and after the group dance performance, there was a solo show by each class.
Leah’s class was the second to dance.
Leah stood at the front with dramatic stage makeup on her face, and her face was glowing.
Michael had his camera ready and started recording as soon as they came out.
However, Michael looked for a while, but did not see where Jake was. Touching Wendy, Michael asked, "Have you seen our son?"
Wendy pointed to the middle of the last row and laughed as she said, "Your son is in the most inconspicuous position, and you can’t see him at first sight."
"How can Jake be in that position?" Michael wondered out loud.
This was a far cry from Leah.
Wendy’s smile got bigger and bigger, and she said, "You’ll see."
With the sound of the music, Leah raised her little hands to the beat and danced.
The group of children behind Leah based their rhythm and dancing along with her.
Although Jake was in a very inconspicuous position, as long as he encountered a large arc movement, Michael saw at a glance that he could not keep up.
For example, there was a dance move that everyone had to crouch down for. So, everyone crouched down, but Jake was a beat slower. When everyone squatted and then stood up, he squatted. But when he stood up, Michael could not see him because he was surrounded by people who stood up in front of him.
Michael knew why he was placed in that position now.
Wendy laughed a little helplessly and said, "Have you forgotten that Leah has been dancing for us at home every day these days, and Jake refuses to dance?"
Michael said, "I thought he was just embarrassed." Michael laughed and shook his head.
"He is indeed embarrassed to be completely off the beat, so how can he not be embarrassed to dance?" Wendy whispered to Michael, "Let me tell you, your son has secretly told me several times before that he didn’t want to participate in the class group dance and asked me to call the teacher to kick him out, but I didn’t say yes."
Michael said, "You weren’t supposed to say yes."
Michael nodded in agreement with Wendy and said, "No matter whether you dance well or not, it’s better to participate in this kind of group activity. This kind of class activity is not to develop children’s dancing ability, but just to exercise."
Wendy said, "I think so too."
Wendy asked, "Did you record it all?"
Michael said, "I’m recording it, don’t worry." Michael kept his camera pointed at the stage.
He smiled as his eyes fell on Leah and said, "Leah is a good dancer. Ask her if she wants to learn to dance and enroll her in a dance class or something."
"That’s what I was thinking. I think she likes to dance."
As soon as Wendy said that a voice came from behind her saying, "I know a famous dance teacher for toddlers. Do you want me to introduce you?"
Wendy said, "Sure... "
Wendy subconsciously turned around and saw a familiar yet annoying face, and her smile instantly froze on her face.
"Why are you here?" Michael’s tone was icy with obvious hostility.
The one who came was none other than Christian.
"I came to see my nephew and niece’s kindergarten event," Christian said with his hands clasped over his chest and with a breezy smile.
Michael stood up at the first sight of Christian.
Because of Michael’s status, the parents sitting around him heard their voices and looked over.
Wendy was afraid that Michael and Christian would get into a fight there, so she reached out and tugged Michael’s arm and said in a low voice, "Michael, this is the school."
The look in Michael’s eyes was cold and harsh, but his face was smiling.
He reached out and gently pushed Wendy away, tilted his head slightly and said, "Don’t worry, I won’t fight in my son’s kindergarten."
Michael said this to Wendy, but also to himself.
Turning his head, Michael looked at Christian and said in a mocking tone, "First of all, I have nothing to do with you, and my child has nothing to do with you.
"Secondly, if you want to come here and make a fool of yourself, that’s your own business. After all, I now have a wonderful family with two children, and compared to some people, I really am a lot happier.
"By the way, I also want to remind some people that doing too many bad things will make them prone to losing one’s lineage.
"I’m just afraid that this feeling of having a happy family is something that some people will never experience."
Christian was surprised that Michael didn’t get outright angry this time.
Whether he was suppressing his emotions or really not lashing out, it showed that he had changed.
At least he wasn’t as easily angered as before.
Christian smiled lightly and said, "How can it not matter? Brother, the blood that flows in our bodies is at least half the same."
Christian simply ignored Michael’s next words.
"Is that so?" Michael snickered and said, "That really makes me feel a little sick. But luckily, at least the other half of the blood flowing through me is honorable."
These words meant that Christian was an illegitimate child without a proper birth name.
Michael had indeed changed somewhat. In the past, he would have grabbed Christian’s collar and called him an illegitimate child.
Nowadays, Michael learned to not use dirty words when berating people. Although Michael did not speak with agitation, every word provoked Christian.
Christian’s eyes were filled with anger, but he could only hold it back. He did not expect to be provoked by Michael today.
Wendy was relieved to hear Michael dissing Christian.
She was afraid that Michael would get angry and fight with Christian in the kindergarten.
Then he would be on the news tomorrow.
Wendy reached out to Michael and said, "Leah and Jake are almost done with their performance, and you, the father, stopped recording halfway through the video. What are you going to do when Leah is clamoring to see the video?"
"Oh no!" Michael ignored Christian again and found that the camera he was holding had long since changed direction.
Wendy laughed, raised the phone in her hand and said, "Fortunately, I used the phone to record for you. When the time comes, we can combine the two videos as well."
"I’m glad my wife is so attentive, otherwise I wouldn’t know how to explain this to Leah," Michael said with a sigh of relief. "I promised Leah I’d record it for her."
After that, Michael reached around Wendy’s waist, turned sideways and planted a kiss on her cheek.
When the parents around them saw this scene, they cast envious glances.
"Mr. Lucas and Mrs. Lucas have such a good relationship."
"I’m so envious. My husband runs a small company and says he’s busy every day.
Today, he said he couldn’t find time for his son’s parent-child event, and I was the only one taking care of him. Without comparison, there is no harm. I’m really exasperated."
"Mr. Lucas’ company is the number one company in Lake City, so how does he have time?"
"Mr. Lucas is responsible, loves his wife and children. Being busy is just an excuse."
