Chapter 248: Wendy And Their Children Were The Most Meaningful
After pushing the two children back into the room, Wendy pulled Michael over to the couch and sat down before saying in a lowered voice, "What are you doing?"
Wendy continued to ask, "Is Mrs. Lucas in a bad state?" as she briefly disinfected Michael’s hand.
Michael lowered his eyes, turned and rested his head on Wendy’s shoulder.
The weight on her shoulder startled Wendy.
What in the world was going on here?
It made her panic inside. But Michael did not say anything, so Wendy could not ask further.
Reaching out and stroking Michael’s head, Wendy just kept him company silently.
After a while, Michael said in a low voice, "My mom is having some kind of mental breakdown because when my dad went back this afternoon, she slashed my dad with a knife. I went to the hospital to check on my dad’s condition, but when I got there, I found out that I was a joke."
When Michael said this, Wendy understood.
Michael went on to say, "What am I to a family of three that is cozy and harmonious?"
"Obviously, my mom is the proper wife and Lily is the mistress. I am the eldest son of the Lucas family and Christian is the illegitimate son. But now, it feels like my mom and I are the ones who are not allowed to see the light of day."
Michael’s tone was heartbreaking for Wendy to hear.
Sighing, Wendy reassured him by saying, "It’s not like that. Your father betrayed your mother and you. You are the head of the Lucas family, and the Mr. Lucas of MC so how can you not see the light of day? The fact that they are together openly and honestly does not mean that you and your mother can’t see the light of day, but that they are shameless."
At this moment, Michael’s cell phone rang. He took it out and saw that it was Mr. York calling. Michael picked up the phone.
"Mr. Lucas, the psychiatrist went to the old house and made a diagnosis. He said that Mrs. Lucas is suffering from an emotional breakdown caused by long-term depression, but the good thing is that it is still in its initial stage, so by maintaining a happy mood and cooperating well with the treatment, it can still be cured."
"I understand."
After saying that, Michael hung up the phone.
"Don’t worry, Mrs. Lucas will be fine." Wendy reached out and put her hand on Michael’s shoulder to pat it gently, as if to give him comfort.
"Don’t you hate my mother for what she did to you before?" Michael asked as he turned his head to look at Wendy.
"I hate her," Wendy blinked and said truthfully.
"But she’s your mother, and she hasn’t done me any substantial harm. I can’t make things difficult for you because of my problems with her. Besides, she and I don’t live together, and we won’t see each other if there is nothing going on."
"Thank you, Wendy," Michael took a deep breath and sounded very sincere.
He thanked her for being so magnanimous and understanding enough to accommodate.
"Hey, isn’t that because I can’t help it?" Wendy laughed helplessly.
"Sorry about this," Michael said in an apologetic tone of voice as he reached out and hugged Wendy.
"I don’t think you’ve eaten yet." Wendy stood up and said, "I’ll go cook you a bowl of pasta. Eat and go to bed early. We have to go to the children’s festival tomorrow, and Leah has been looking forward to it for a week, so we can’t lose to the other parents at the parent-child event tomorrow and we have to make sure we make our children look good."
"Sure," Michael nodded and smiled.
Wendy and their children were the most meaningful part of Michael’s life now.

Leah got up early the next morning and was excited.
The alarm clock was set for eight o’clock, but she woke up at six.
When she woke up, she climbed out of bed and immediately went to Jake’s room.
She pulled back the covers and called out to him, "Jake, Jake, get up. We have a parent-child event today."
When Jake was woken up, his eyes were drooping, and he could barely keep them open.
He glanced at the little alarm clock on his bed and immediately laid back down to go back to sleep as he said, "It’s only six o’clock and the event doesn’t start until ten o’clock."
"Geez Jake, let’s go early," Leah tugged on Jake’s blanket again.
Jake was helpless and said, "Go get mummy and daddy."
When Leah saw that she couldn’t wake Jake up, she ran to Wendy’s room.
When she knocked on the door and there was no response, she shouted, "Mummy and Daddy, get up!"
When Wendy heard the noise, she subconsciously used a pillow to cover both ears.
Michael looked out the window and saw that it was only six o’clock in the morning and was a little helpless.
However, Leah was already awake, so Michael also gently got out of bed.
When Leah saw that Michael was the only one out of bed after opening the door, she immediately shouted inside and said, "Mummy... "
Michael covered Leah’s little mouth and carried her to the living room.
"Let Mummy sleep a little longer," Michael whispered. "Daddy will take you out for a morning run, okay?"
"But there’s a kindergarten event today, and I want to go early."
"The event doesn’t start until 10:00. Didn’t the teacher say that you can arrive at 9:00 and then leave an hour for makeup to be done? Daddy promises that we definitely won’t be late and that we will also be the first ones to arrive, okay?"
Leah was a little upset, but still nodded her head.
Michael rummaged through the workout clothes for Leah and changed into a workout outfit himself.
Then he took Leah to run together in the garden downstairs.
There were quite a lot of people running in the morning.
When they came back after a few laps, Wendy and Jake were still not up.
However, Zess had already made breakfast.
"Go get Jake. I’ll go get Mummy, and then we’ll go to school together after breakfast, okay?" Michael bent down and spoke to Leah.
"Okay." Leah cheerfully ran into Jake’s room.
When Michael returned to the bedroom, Wendy was already awake. However, her mind was not completely clear yet, she was sitting on the bed in a daze.
Michael smiled at the sight of Wendy, went up to her, picked up her clothes and helped her change as he said, "Leah was so excited that she got up early in the morning and I took her downstairs for a few laps. It’s almost eight o’clock, so it’s about time to have breakfast and go to the kindergarten."
Wendy turned her head to look at Michael and nodded.
Wendy’s family of four was destined to be a spectacular sight. They wore the parentchild uniform issued by the school and each held a child. The turnaround rate was simply 100 percent.
"Mr. Lucas, Mrs. Lucas, you’re here too. Your son and daughter are so cute. I’m so jealous, and they are fraternal twins."
"I heard that your daughter is the lead dancer in the class. That’s amazing."
"This family of four is so beautiful. In the words of a saying on the internet, they should keep on having babies until they go through menopause."
"Mr. Lucas is really a wonderful man. He makes time for his children even though he is busy with work. I have seen him picking up his children from school in person often before."
The voices of admiration came incessantly.
Wendy and Michael responded with smiles when they met those who greeted them.
