Chapter 236: Check It All Out
"It’s true that I didn’t want you to remember before, but... " Michael had already explained once, but when he looked into Wendy’s eyes, he found that she didn’t believe him at all.
"You don’t know how to defend yourself, do you?" Wendy looked at him and laughed as she said, "Then let me tell you. You changed my memory medication a month ago, didn’t you?
"You changed it to a medicine that inhibits the recovery of memory.
"I thought it was strange that when I was in the hospital, I could still remember some scenes and clips from time to time, but after I was discharged, I rarely remembered anything.
"I guess, you knew that there was no way for me to recover my memory. Then you brought me here and told me with an affectionate look that you wanted to help me recover my memory so that I would believe in you for this favor, right? Michael, why do you have to be so hypocritical?"
Wendy’s words came as a shock to Michael.
He knew that Wendy already knew about him changing the medicine. But he changed the medicine back, and now he took the initiative to bring her here.
Wendy should not have reacted in this way.
In fact, Wendy didn’t know whether she should go in or not.
When she stepped into this neighborhood, she was already a little panicked.
It was clear that she had completely lost the possibility of recovering her memory, so why did she still have this feeling?
It was also because of this feeling that she could not choose.
"Wendy, I’m not thinking about any favors from you. I really want to help you recover your memory." Michael grabbed Wendy’s shoulders and looked at her with serious and sincere eyes as he said, "Will you believe me this time?"
"Believe you?" Wendy snickered and said, "Then explain to me first as to why you changed my medication. Not only did you change it, but you deliberately changed it back after a month. Did you think that I wouldn’t find out anything if you switched it back unnoticed?"
Michael was not taken aback by Wendy’s questioning, but he was keenly aware that something was wrong with the time of a month.
She deliberately emphasized a month...
"Wendy, what does a month mean?" Michael asked.
"Now you’re asking me what a month means?" Wendy laughed and reached out to slap away Michael’s hand that was gripping her shoulder as she asked, "You changed the medication yourself and you’re asking me?"
As Michael looked at Wendy’s responsive attitude, he then remembered her reaction to learning about the medication change the other day.
It seemed that there was more going on than simply finding out about the medication change.
"We might have some kind of misunderstanding." Michael said, "Can we talk about it?"
"Misunderstanding? First you tell me, did you change my medication?"
"Yes, I did."
"Then what other misunderstanding could there be?"
"No... " Michael was a little helpless as he reached up and grabbed a handful of his hair and paced back and forth in place for a few steps.
By now, Wendy had already turned around in disappointment and headed for the elevator.
Michael hurriedly followed her.
In the elevator, Michael took a deep breath in an attempt to sort out what was going on here.
He thought that Wendy was trying to recover her memory. But now she was obviously resistant and not even willing to open the door to go in.
There must be some reason for this.
Michael turned his head to look at Wendy and said seriously, "Wendy, let’s talk about it, okay?"
The elevator door had already opened. Wendy did not say anything and walked out in stride.
Michael also couldn’t continue to pester Wendy about this matter.
He was afraid that it would backfire and cause Wendy to resent him, and so making their relationship even worse.
Since Wendy wouldn’t talk about it, he’d go check it out himself.
Michael wanted to send Wendy back, but she said she had to go to the office to work. So, Michael drove straight to the office.
After dropping Wendy off at the office, Michael went to Jill and told her, "Keep an eye on Wendy’s condition and call me first if there’s anything wrong."
"What’s wrong with you guys again?" Jill, as an outsider, was tired of watching the two of them flip-flop on their relationship and said, "In the past few days, haven’t you guys been fine?"
How were the last few days fine?
Wendy only suppressed her emotions and did not fall out with him.
Today, he took her back to the place where they used to live. Although Wendy did not go in, at least she gave vent to the grievances in her heart.
This was a good thing.
However, it was obvious that there was something Michael didn’t know yet.
"Just do as I say as a favor to me." Michael nodded to Jill in appreciation.
Then he turned around and headed for the elevator.
After he arrived at the office, the first thing Michael did was to call Mr. York in.
Looking at Mr. York, Michael said, "Find out where Wendy went, who she met, and who she called a week ago in the afternoon. Check it all out!" It was that day when Wendy was not in her right state.
Michael thought that she was just unhappy to find out that her medication had been changed, so Michael thought that he would be nicer to her, a little better, and then take her back to help restore her memory.
When she remembered, she could make her own decision. But it didn’t go the way Michael thought it would.
Soon, Mr. York found out. He came to Michael’s office and reported the incident by saying, "Wendy said she was drawing designs in the office that afternoon, but in fact she went home and then to the hospital. During that time, she spoke with Zen on the phone."
Mr. York handed over a document that he had just compiled and said, "It has Wendy’s itinerary and the exact time of her phone call to Zen as well as the exact length of the call."
"Talked to Zen?" Michael lowered his head and seemed to be thinking about something.
It was Zen’s idea to change Wendy’s memory suppressant medication when they first said so.
Zen had long been Christian’s person and would most likely help him with things.
If he asked Zen directly, she wouldn’t necessarily tell the truth.
After thinking about it, Michael said, "Get the car ready right away to go see the doctor that Wendy saw."
"Yes," replied Mr. York.
Soon, Michael appeared at the hospital.
The doctor didn’t know what was going on and was confused when he saw Michael coming to him.
Of course, because he had a guilty conscience, he was also scared when he saw Michael.
Outside the office, the bodyguards were guarding, so no one could come in.
Michael did not bother to talk nonsense with the doctor and got straight to the point by saying, "I do not have that much time to spend with you. I will only ask you a few questions, and if you tell me the truth, then you can end up better. But if you tell the slightest falsehood, I do not guarantee that you can still exist in this world!"
As soon as the doctor heard such a big threat, he was so scared that his whole body went limp in the chair.
He also guessed what Michael was here for.
At that time, when he promised Zen, he did not think it would be so serious. But now that the matter had come to this, the doctor knew very well that compared to Michael, Zen was a nobody and could not protect him.
