Chapter 726: Chapter 727: Without Regret

The pitch-black Sword Slash, imbued with an aura of Darkness, collided with the Sword Slashes of Tian Wujing, Hai Wubian, and Di Wuya. Strangely, the impact was completely silent. At that moment, the dark attack began to corrode the three crystalline Sword Slashes, dissolving them completely. Yet, the shadowy Sword Slash still had enough power left to strike at the three of them!

Seeing this, the already grim expressions on their faces grew even grimmer. Di Wuya swung his sword, and another crystalline Sword Slash struck the pitch-black one. This time, the dark Sword Slash exploded, utterly destroyed. Even though the attack was gone, their eyes held only endless gravity.

"Haha, how was that? Is my strength beyond your imagination?" Gui Yan laughed maniacally. "Back then, you always suppressed me. Today, I’ll let you have a taste of my true power!"

The next moment, a dark aura surged from his blade as he unleashed three fierce Sword Slashes toward Tian Wujing, Hai Wubian, and Di Wuya. The trio retreated in unison, their Soft Swords flashing at extreme speeds as they sent forth a torrent of crystalline Sword Slashes.

"You can’t defeat me! You’re all too weak!" Gui Yan’s arrogant voice echoed as his figure suddenly appeared beside Hai Wubian, his sword slashing downward.

CLANG!

Their Soft Swords met with a piercing shriek of metal. The next moment, Hai Wubian was thrown back, a hint of paleness crossing his face. An evil aura of Darkness had erupted from Gui Yan’s Soft Sword, directly corroding Hai Wubian’s True Qi.

Seeing Hai Wubian repelled, Gui Yan didn’t press the attack. Instead, he swiftly moved to Di Wuya’s side and brought his Soft Sword chopping down again. With an enraged expression, Di Wuya had no choice but to swing his own Soft Sword to meet the blow head-on.

CLANG!

With another grating screech, Di Wuya’s face paled as he was also knocked backward.

"Tian Wujing, now it’s your turn to face my sword!" In an instant, Gui Yan appeared before Tian Wujing, his Soft Sword slashing out once more.

Tian Wujing’s expression grew grave. He frantically channeled True Qi to form a protective barrier around himself as his Soft Sword burst forth with a dazzling light of its own. The next moment, their blades crashed together. Tian Wujing’s expression shifted; Gui Yan’s True Qi was incredibly strange, and it was rapidly corroding his own.

"Well? Am I not impressive now? You were always calling me weak, weren’t you? Now, I am even stronger than you!" Gui Yan sneered, looking at Tian Wujing’s grim face.

"Yes, you are very strong right now," Tian Wujing said, his voice calm yet tinged with heartache as he looked at Gui Yan. "But at what cost? You’ve lost far, far too much. If this is the price of strength, I believe most people would refuse to pay it."

Hearing this, Gui Yan’s expression flickered before he let out a cold laugh. "Eldest Brother, you’re as preachy as ever!"

"Am I?" Tian Wujing said, looking earnestly into Gui Yan’s eyes. "Fourth Brother, come back. We’re all waiting for you."

Gui Yan’s heart trembled at his words. "There’s no need for that anymore," he replied. "I’ve done too much. Someone has to punish me, and if that someone is my own brothers, I won’t have a single complaint. Eldest Brother, do you know? I’ve always been trying to surpass Third Brother, Second Brother, and you, but I could never do it. Today, however, I finally succeeded. The weakest one among us has finally surpassed you all.

"Eldest Brother, I’m so content, especially being able to see all of you before I die. I have no regrets. If there’s an afterlife, I hope we can still be brothers. But... next time, I want to be the eldest."

As he spoke, Gui Yan suddenly began to laugh, tears streaming from his eyes. He was no longer Gui Yan... he was Shan Wufeng.

Shan Wufeng knew he had done many terrible things, so he had simply chosen to continue down that path. He had his own way of doing things. He knew he would eventually be punished, but he didn’t care. Since he was already in the wrong, he decided to embrace that identity to do things others couldn’t. That was his purpose. The reason he had erupted into battle just now was simply to fulfill a single wish buried deep in his heart: to finally surpass his brothers. That was why he had provoked them—he was worried they wouldn’t use their full strength against him.

Hearing Shan Wufeng’s words, Tian Wujing trembled violently. "Fourth Brother!" he cried out.

At that exact moment, Shan Wufeng coughed up a mouthful of blood. Behind him, Hai Wubian and Di Wuya had just thrust their Soft Swords into his heart.

"Eldest Brother... my... my wish has been fulfilled... I... I’m... so content..." Shan Wufeng said with a smile, his face growing increasingly pale as he lay in Tian Wujing’s arms.

"You bastards! You two bastards, pull your swords out! Heal Fourth Brother, quickly, heal him now!" Tian Wujing roared at Hai Wubian and Di Wuya, his eyes red and blazing with fury.

Stunned by his fury, Hai Wubian and Di Wuya froze for a moment. Though they didn’t understand why their Eldest Brother was so enraged, they quickly did as he commanded.

"Fourth Brother, you’re not going to die! I’m here! No one can hurt you! I won’t let you die while I’m here!" Tian Wujing shouted, his eyes bloodshot as he frantically poured his immense True Qi into Shan Wufeng’s body, hoping to heal his wounds.

However, Shan Wufeng’s heart had been nearly obliterated. He was completely beyond saving unless a God truly existed in this world.

"Eldest Brother... call... call Second Brother and Third Brother over... I... I want to apologize to them," Shan Wufeng said with extreme weakness, his hand clutching Tian Wujing’s.

"Alright, alright," Tian Wujing replied frantically. "You two, get over here! Fourth Brother has something to say to you!" he shouted at Hai Wubian and Di Wuya.

The two nodded and hurried to Shan Wufeng’s side. Seeing him in this state, both Hai Wubian and Di Wuya felt a pang in their hearts. After all, this was the man who had been their brother for decades.

"Second... Second Brother... Third Brother... don’t... don’t blame me. I’m sorry... I... I was wrong. I deliberately provoked you just now so that you would attack me. B-because... I knew I had done too many wrong things... and I hoped to die at your hands. This... this can be my punishment. Second Brother... Third Brother... please don’t blame me," Shan Wufeng said weakly, coughing up more and more blood.
