Chapter Forty-Eight: Void Ship Crashes (3)
[Privilege: Basic Translation Module. Description: Translates the roars, screeches, and growls of certain monsters into human language. Note: There is a slight chance of inaccurate translations.]
This was the description of the privilege he had gotten after providing the system with sufficient data on the beast language.
Due to his little encounter with monsters afterwards — the only ones being the Tetydracos, who obviously weren’t included in the list of ’certain monsters’ he could translate — he had nearly forgotten about this special privilege.
On the chaotic battlefield, where the massive bird continuously rampaged, the System Translation Module had automatically activated, causing Valen quite a bit of astonishment.
The translated words appeared before his eyes and also sounded in his ears, as the system had gone to the extra effort of improving the translator.
["Return my baby!"]
["Where is my baby?!"]
[Notice: Estimated accuracy: 87.3%. Misinterpretations may occur.]
Valen froze, a dumbfounded expression appearing on his face after listening to the words of the system.
’Baby? What does its baby have to do with a Void Ship?!’
Annoyance began to rise within him as he seriously wondered whether the monster was mentally ill or something.
Then, as though struck by thunder, a realisation crossed his mind.
The giant bird was clearly some kind of avian beast from its screeches and cries. So, its baby had to be an egg, right?
And if that was so, there was only one person Valen knew who possessed a Beast Egg in the entire Void Ship... and that was Anas.
The creature wasn’t attacking them on a whim as he had thought. Instead, it had been searching for its lost offspring.
But wasn’t that too much of a coincidence? To have faced the egg’s mother just as they departed into the Astral Veil? Was this some kind of joke or something?
The beast’s golden eyes peered from behind the clouds, its immense fury palpable.
Suddenly, it locked onto a specific emergency capsule. Its massive wings beat once, carrying it into the distance.
’It’s gone?’
Just as Valen had this thought, the avian beast appeared once more, its gigantic claws wrapping around an inconspicuous emergency capsule.
Then it tightened its grip, causing the sound of shrieking metal to ring through the air.
Cracks spread across the hull of the capsule, but the enraged bird-like monster did not relent.
Just as it seemed the colossal creature would rip apart the capsule, a blue figure burst from the emergency pod.
A pair of mechanical wings slowly unfolded behind the suit as the pilot stabilised their form in the air.
Valen’s eyes reflected immense shock.
A blue Power Suit with wings?!
He naturally knew this person. Wasn’t she the sister of the black-cloaked man back at the Black Ruin Castle Beast Haven?
How had she gotten here?
’Could they... have been tracking me all this while?’
Shivers ran down Valen’s spine. He never knew that he had really offended such a vengeful bunch of siblings.
When the black-cloaked man had said he’d remember him, he hadn’t thought much of it. Weren’t those just third-rate villain lines? Who couldn’t spout them?
But now his heart had gone cold. They had actually followed him all the way here for revenge. If they had their way, wouldn’t he have been killed in his sleep?
The young lady shot through the sky in her blue Power Suit, trying to escape.
But how could her speed match that of the monstrosity above?
The beast’s chest began expanding once more, indicating the coming of another sonic attack.
Valen couldn’t help but pity that young lady. Now that the beast was about to use the same move that blew up the Void Ship, her fate was already sealed.
He just hoped he wouldn’t be dragged into this as his engines were already failing.

Yasmin’s face instantly turned pale behind the helmet of her Power Suit.
She knew she wouldn’t be a match for that sonic wave attack, so thoughts of using her final trump card began to surface.
As she was much closer to the monster, she could make out that it was a massive falcon with golden eyes.
She couldn’t help but feel unlucky. Why would such a beast be targeting her of all people?
Then a realisation flashed across her eyes when she caught a glimpse of the black bag hooked to her waist.
Aside from her Power Suit, wasn’t that the only thing she held? All her other items were stored away in her Inventory Ring.
’Could it be after this?’
Without hesitation, she threw away the bag, hoping her hypothesis was true.
The bag tumbled through the air, and as expected, the colossal bird’s attention shifted instantly.
Its murderous gaze disappeared as it lunged towards the falling bag.
As though what it contained was something incomparably precious.
Yasmin turned to flee, but the bird ignored her completely.
She heaved a sigh of relief, shooting into the distance without hesitation.
***
Valen, who had just witnessed this sight, was completely stupefied.
’How had the Beast Egg gotten into that young lady’s hands?’
But he didn’t have any more time to observe or think. He had only managed to witness that much.
That was because the damaged engines of his escape capsule suddenly surged with unstable energy.
The emergency light flashed red, and the world outside became a blur as his pod entered uncontrolled ultra-speed travel.
Valen’s vision went white. He didn’t know where he was headed or how to command the ship. But for now, escape was imperative.
He had witnessed enough. Thankfully, he had. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have known that someone was actually tracking him down.
Moments later, something hard struck the pod, and its metal frame groaned from the strain.
The alarms blared as several warnings appeared from the in-built AI.
Due to the tremendous speed, Valen was beginning to lose consciousness. The last thing he saw before darkness consumed him was a distant, unfamiliar landscape rushing towards him from below.
Then... there was no then.
Everything simply went black.
