Chapter 47: Chapter Forty-Seven: Void Ship Crashes (2)

Chapter Forty-Seven: Void Ship Crashes (2)

The Humanity System had always been an excellent tool for fishing out traitors or Dark Worshippers, but it wasn’t perfect.

Although the constant monitoring of the System Lenses, Silver Watch, and System Relay may look extremely secure, it still had a few loopholes, causing a bypassing of detection to be achievable.

What if one came across the dark forces outside a city and closed their eyes? A tap means yes, two taps means no, three taps means I left a message at the beach, four taps means the message is at the grasslands, and so on.

Then, upon going to the spot, you saw a few texts written in words only you understood, but you acted like you didn’t?

All the while, the system would be monitoring you, but would find nothing too out of place if it happened just once or twice, as it couldn’t read minds.

The method might seem tedious and bothersome, but this was something humans were good at — finding a way.

They would always look for ways to bend, twist, or bypass rules in the most legal manner.

This was why everyone on the Void Ship wasn’t overly shocked by the Captain’s identity as a Dark Worshipper.

In the end, the Humanity System was just an AI, and AIs were made by humans, so how could they surpass human intelligence?

It was like saying a candy could eat its creator.

Hearing Zayd’s question caused the crew to exchange hesitant looks. Finally, a young navigation officer slowly raised his hand.

"I... I can."

Zayd turned toward the viewport, nodding.

"Good."

Just then, a deafening cry shook the entire vessel.

"CAAAAAWWWWW!"

All the Evolvers’ eyes snapped towards the central plaza, staring at the scene outside.

At some point, a colossal shadow had appeared outside the ship.

Before anyone could react, one of its enormous claws slammed into the side of the Void Ship, causing the reinforced hull to crumple like paper, and its velocity to drop.

BOOM!

Entire sections of the Void Ship were ripped apart, and alarms instantly exploded throughout the vessel.

[WARNING! WARNING!! WARNING!!!]

[CRITICAL STRUCTURAL DAMAGE DETECTED. THE COLLAPSE OF THE VOID SHIP IS IMMINENT.]

[EMERGENCY EVACUATION PROTOCOL ACTIVATED.]

[ALL PASSENGERS PROCEED TO THE NEAREST EMERGENCY Capsule.]

Within the central plaza, panic ensued as evolvers began running and screaming.

Valen’s expression turned solemn.

Emergency capsules? Where were those?

As though replying to his question, a massive arrow projection appeared on the ground, pointing towards a corridor, and it was clear for all Evolvers to see.

Valen immediately surged into motion as the corridors became chaotic from people shoving one another.

Some activated Power Suits to gain an edge, while others carried injured companions who had either been shoved too hard or hit their heads somewhere during the struggle.

The entire Void Ship trembled repeatedly as violent impacts echoed from the outside.

After several minutes of frantic movement, Valen finally reached an evacuation chamber.

Rows upon rows of emergency capsules lined the walls, numbering in the tens of thousands.

But he didn’t have the time to inspect them. Although it was the forbidden region beneath him, entering it still guaranteed a faint ray of hope.

Staying behind, however, was suicide.

One by one, the emergency capsules launched from the Void Ship as numerous Evolvers piloted them.

Valen didn’t have experience piloting an emergency capsule. Once he entered one and the hatch sealed, he didn’t know what else to do except stare helplessly at the myriad of buttons on the capsule.

Fortunately, the moment the hatch sealed, the capsule was instantaneously launched.

As it shot away from the Void Ship, Valen looked through the transparent viewing panel.

He saw Zayd — the young Commander had already exited the ship, hovering in the sky while clad in a Fire Elemental Power Suit.

He was facing the colossal shadow in the sky alone, buying time for everyone to escape.

The sight was so absurd that Valen almost thought he was hallucinating.

How was he so strong? Wasn’t he just 24 years old?

Then the colossal thing above the cloud seemed to open its mouth, its chest expanding.

The surrounding air distorted, and Zayd’s yell could be heard from a distance.

"NO! EVERYONE, ES—"

"SKREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!"

The next moment, Zayds’s voice was drowned out as a visible sonic wave erupted from the creature’s mouth.

From Valen’s viewpoint as he escaped, the sky seemed to shudder. Although it was merely a misconception, the sonic wave still violently shattered the Void Ship.

BOOOOOOOMMMMM!

A cataclysmic shockwave rippled outwards as the Void Ship was blown apart, its defenses not even putting up a struggle.

Valen could see food, metal, tables, drones, and several other things that had been stored within the Void Ship flying through the air.

But the worst had yet to come. Bodies of Evolvers who hadn’t escaped in time also plunged from the sky like rain.

Emergency capsules that were near the explosion were destroyed, their pilots also plunging downward.

For now, no one dared to use their power suit to fly. They’ll rather wait until they are close to the ground.

Everything was blown in every direction, like leaves swept away by a powerful gust.

Many capsules had already entered ultra-speed escape mode, vanishing into streaks of light just as the Void Ship exploded.

Others... weren’t so fortunate. Several capsules were struck directly by the shockwave, spiralling helplessly downwards towards the distant ground.

Meanwhile, the surviving capsules continued fleeing deeper into the forbidden region.

Behind them, the enraged beast gave chase. It flapped its gigantic wings, speeding forward at a speed exceeding the speed of sound.

Bang!

The sound barrier shattered as the colossal abomination vanished from sight.

Unfortunately, most emergency capsules had suffered damage.

Hence, one after another, warning lights appeared within the cabins.

Valen’s own pod wasn’t spared. From the warnings, he realised the engines were failing, and his emergency capsule was losing altitude.

Without warning, the cry of the bird could be heard in the sky once more, plunging all Evolvers into the pits of despair.

"CAAAWWWW!"

Before Valen could react, a screen popped up before him as the system’s mechanical voice sounded in his ears.
