Chapter 198 - 194: The Roaring 20’s
[3rd POV]
It was a few days later, when the first mission had finally come to the Legends doors.
Ray's suit had been completed after a couple of days of endless hard work, a whole lot of help from Talia, and Stein and Ray working together to breathe life into the ideas that Talia had given them. The fruit of their efforts came in the form of a new and improved suit, that was practically unhackable, was far more durable and nearly indestructible, could now absorb and redirect kinetic energy, could now shrink to smaller form and grow to larger ones, had various other systems that would help ward off things like disease, poisons, and other similar things, and many many more.
Talia, besides helping Ray out during that time, had taken the liberty of upgrading the weapons of everyone else in the team, at least, the ones that used them. For the ones that didn't, she had upgraded their suits, making a nanomachine based suit for Sara, Amaya, and a new and improved weapon for Mick, upgrading his old heat gun, making it several times stronger, and even giving it new form of "Heat Rays" like a concentrated one, blasts that are similar to those laser guns from Star Wars, delayed explosion like blasts, and a few more.
The new suits and weapons had been well received by the team, considering their old suits were well...not really all that durable, and didn't do much in the protection aspect. And Mick was happy with the new and improved weapon too, as it was way better than the old one that was beginning to fall short in certain fights, and would continue to get more and more obsolete when used against truly strong people.
Besides upgrading some suits and weapons, she had also done a bit of improvements to the ship itself, such as increasing its energy capacity, shield capacity and strength, energy conservation systems, first aid capabilities, weapons, and even the time travel aspect. All of those areas were dramatically improved in the 4 days of waiting, increasing their capabilities by anywhere from 2x to 5x their previous ones.
She had also placed some magical defenses around the ship in case of emergencies, but those wouldn't activate unless it was a dire situation, or if Talia herself activated them on her own. Either way, the ship was much safer and stronger than before.
At the moment Talia was sitting in her room, boredly reading one of the tomes that she found in the library, it was a very very old one from ancient times, around the times of the Pharaoh's in fact. It was chronicles about the Gods and their majestic accomplishments.
At the same time Nate and Ray were sparring in another area of the ship, as Nate had the ability to transmute his form into a metallic form, strengthening him dramatically, enough that he could actually spar with Ray, even with the new suit that the man now wore.
'Looks like it's going to be time to travel back in time...finally' Talia thought, as Gideon spoke over the intercom of the ship.
"Excuse me, but Dr Haywoods seismograph has detected an aberration" Gideon spoke over the intercom, an alarm beginning to blare as Talia got to her feet and made her way to the front of the ship, where the rest of the Legends were.
"Who installed the alarms?" Mick growled out, annoyed as it was loud as hell.
"That would be me" Nate said, raising his hand at the question as Mick huffed in annoyance.
"We should kill him" Mick grumbled, as Stein and Jax walked in soon after.
"We got another one?" Jax asked.
"Yeah, and judging by these readings, it's a major one" Nate replied with a nod, reading the center console that tracked the readings for the aberration.
"Is there really a cause for all this alarm? Perhaps the aberration isn't as large as we think" Stein asked, as everyone looked at him, with only Talia and Jax knowing why he was saying this. Talia knew it was because of his daughter, a daughter that wouldn't exist if not for Barry's time travel, which made them consider her to be an "Aberration" which isn't really how it worked.
"The temporal tremors originate from Union Station in Chicago, Illinois, October 17th in the year 1927" Gideon spoke, as Stein breathed a sigh of relief.
"That's fantastic!" Stein exclaimed, only to cough awkwardly as Jax slapped his shoulder, causing him to continue "I-I mean, I've always wanted to visit the roaring 20's right in the middle of the prohibition" Stein said "Masterfully" Lying.
"That means no drinking. That's not good"
"Well, actually under Capone, Chicago was a hotbed of vice. There was illegal drinking, gambling, prostitution" Nate replied, calming Mick before he could get more annoyed.
"Well, then, let's fire up a tub and get there" Mick said, much more excited at the prospect, now that he knew that there was alcohol.
"So the 1920's huh? Looks like your aberration is going to involve Capone himself" Talia finally spoke up, as they all turned to her.
"What makes you say that? The aberration could be anything" Nate asked, as Talia smiled.
"When it comes to ripples in time, the larger ones like this one, almost always involve an incredibly important figure to the timeline. Like a president, or someone who makes a meaningful impact on the world as a whole. Capone is one of the few in Chicago at the time, that would be important enough to cause such an effect, and it's pretty likely that this change involves him getting arrested" Talia replied, explaining why it was that Capone was a part of the aberration.
"That's...concerning. Cause as much as the movies about him are great, he's not exactly the most moral guy out there. What sort of change could stop him from getting arrested?" Ray asked as Talia shrugged.
"Any number of things, but the most likely is that the guy who found all the evidence was killed before he could. An aberration like this one is a little...strange though, as most aberrations would be a lot smaller than this one" Talia replied, as Sara sighed.
"So what you're saying is, is that we're going to be running into other time travelers then? Ones that did this?" Sara said, groaning at the fact that this would make their mission a lot harder, and much more time consuming.
"Most likely yes" Talia replied with a nod, as that is exactly what she was saying. She already knew who the three causes of it were, but she would let them figure it out with a bit of aid on her part, and if she had to, she wouldn't mind stepping in.
"Well then, grab your fedoras, we're going to the 1920's" Sara said with a smile, slightly excited, but also annoyed at the fact that they're going to have to chase down the time travelers.

[A little later]
After getting to the 1920's and slipping into some more accurate clothing for this time period, the group had split up, with Talia walking around alone, smiling as she took in the sites.
"Man I can see why the Doctor loves traveling in time so much, this is amazing!" Talia said the sounds of people walking by entering her ears, alongside the old jazz music belonging to this time period. She also could clearly hear the plans of a rather nasty little group near the harbor, but she'd let the Legends deal with them when the time came. For now, she wanted to enjoy her little vacation, and then the mentoring would commence.
Glancing around at all the shops and stalls nearby, Talia's eyes glowed with excitement as she had only one thought on her mind.
'Where should I begin?'
