Chapter 1634: Chapter 1634: Seeking the Antidote
In the area of drug research, even though Justin Kingston is intelligent and capable, he truly can’t be of any help—it’s not a field he’s ever been involved in.
Standing silently by her side, waiting, he began to admire this woman anew, his love for her growing even deeper.
Mia Lane, after all, is Ian Shelby’s mentor, so she’s quite adept when it comes to pharmaceutical research.
She was methodical, every movement steady, using precision instruments to test whether the food samples brought from overseas contained any poison.
With arms crossed, Justin Kingston leaned against the corner of a table not far away, his admiring gaze fixated on his wife.
This seemingly frail woman always had a great energy within her.
As if sensing his burning gaze, Mia Lane prepared the utensils while glancing at him, "What are you doing?"
His lips curled into a slight smile, laughter filling even his deep eyes; he always felt this woman had a power enough to enchant his soul.
Mia Lane couldn’t help but chuckle, "You’re a father now, stop being lovesick." She withdrew her gaze and returned to her research.
And to avoid distracting her, Justin Kingston picked up a book on medical research and turned his back to focus on reading.
The lab was exceptionally quiet.
Before they knew it, half an hour had passed.
As Mia Lane tidied up the table, she offered her conclusion, "There’s no poison in these foods; they’re very safe."
Justin Kingston closed the book in his hand, putting it aside as he turned to look at her, "So, the person who poisoned wasn’t the chef? Can be ruled out?"
"If the poisoning continues, the chef can be ruled out." Mia Lane organized the instruments, "But what if the poisoning has stopped now and the previous poison was indeed added by the chef?"
This possibility indeed exists.
Justin Kingston mused, "Whoever has had contact with the food could be the poisoner. We need to see whether the food served at the table is normal to compare and find out."
"But Jocelyn Morgan should soon get the second batch of samples." Justin Kingston rested his chin on a hand, "Are the instruments you just used easy to carry?"
"They are." She said as she started packing, "You need to figure out how to give it to him without being noticed. It’s simple to bring them into the royal family from here, but didn’t you say he might be under surveillance?"
"That can be arranged, let’s pack first." Speaking up, he stepped in to help.
Organizing didn’t take up much space; a small, precise box fit perfectly.
"Come with me to the village. I have some rare herbs planted in my old backyard that could be used to make antidotes." She said, "Although I’m not yet certain what the poison is, my judgment isn’t too far off. We can prepare some to bring over."
"Sure."
With that, Justin Kingston carried the small box and left Ian Shelby’s research lab with his wife.
They got into the car in the yard, and it headed towards the village...
Meanwhile, David Dalton arrived at Emerald Cove with Ethan Dalton; Justin Kingston and Mia Lane hadn’t returned yet. Kristina Kingston came out to greet them personally, looking delighted.
"Grandpa! Uncle!"
"Hello, Grandpa!"
The kids were especially excited to see them and ran over, grabbing Ethan Dalton’s hand and pulling him away.
"Uncle, let’s play race cars! You and Dolly sit together! Shall we have a match?"
"Sure!"
Ethan Dalton had been recovering well day by day; not only had he grown taller, but his intelligence had gradually returned, though he still stayed at Ian Shelby’s hospital, with specialized doctors and nurses available to care for him.
With Gigi and Dolly as blood relatives and being children themselves, it was easy for them to play together.
"In-laws, please come inside." Kristina Kingston, composed and graceful, said to the middle-aged man, "Justin Kingston and Mia went out for some work, but they’ll be back shortly."
"Alright." David Dalton smiled as he followed her inside, his gaze lingering on the children’s backs, "Gigi and Dolly have grown quite a bit taller, haven’t they?"
