Chapter 1618: Chapter 1618: You Must Not Fall for Jocelyn
Jocelyn Morgan accompanied Prince Taylor for breakfast, appearing obedient and quiet, but in reality, she was distracted, pondering how she could deliver the samples she collected from the kitchen to Ian Shelby.
But she realized that within this deep palace, spies were everywhere, and the ubiquitous servants made it impossible to discern who was backing them.
Not all of them belonged to the King.
As of now, with Prince Taylor being somewhat simple-minded, Jocelyn felt he wasn’t particularly scheming, though the help he could provide was quite limited.
After breakfast, she accompanied the Raban doctor for the King’s appointment.
Jocelyn reported to Bertie, "Your Majesty, I’m going to visit my brother."
At this moment, Justin Kingston was still in the royal residence.
"Alright," Bertie nodded, looking at her with a fatherly gaze, "You are free, and if you need any translation help, have the doctor call you so you can communicate with him."
"Okay," Jocelyn replied, "I won’t neglect my duties. I’m just aware of my identity, and since he’s returning to Riventhal, I want to say goodbye to him."
The King understandingly nodded.
After speaking with the doctor and exchanging phone numbers, Jocelyn headed towards Justin Kingston’s residence.
Taylor also happened to be going back to his palace, so he bid farewell to his father and accompanied Jocelyn.
This made the King realize that the situation was not good and he needed to talk to his son.
"Taylor!" he called out.
The Prince stopped and turned back, "Father, what is it?" He then anxiously glanced at the disappearing figure of Jocelyn.
"Come over here, I have something to discuss with you." The King’s gaze focused on him, with a cold and slightly stern tone.
Reluctantly, Taylor had no choice but to walk towards his father.
The King said to Eden and Arthur beside him, "You two may leave for now."
"Yes." The two bowed and turned to leave.
Taylor, confused, came before the King, "Father, what is it?" But he still glanced at the departing figure of Jocelyn, almost out of sight.
"You cannot like Jocelyn Morgan," the King said without a hint of humor, looking up at him, "So you must put away your thoughts."
"Why?" Taylor frowned, unwilling to accept it, "Is she not outstanding enough? Or am I not worthy of her?"
Though he was a Prince, her brother was Justin Kingston.
"She’s excellent, and you are too, but you two are not suitable," Bertie told him, "I will not agree to you being together."
So, you should give up on this idea early.
"Give me a reason," Taylor insisted stubbornly, shaking his head, "Let me see if I can accept it, if the reason is reasonable."
"..."
Their gazes met, and Bertie’s eyes darkened, causing Taylor to flinch and swallow hard, not knowing what to say for a moment.
But he really liked Jocelyn.
Meanwhile, Jocelyn Morgan continued walking to Justin Kingston’s residence without looking back.
With the corner of her eye, she surveyed the surroundings, always feeling that someone was secretly watching her every move; it wasn’t an illusion.
She kept her eyes forward, appearing calm, though she felt a bit uneasy inside.
If she could just hand over the food samples to Ian Shelby, she could then figure out how to obtain the samples served on the King’s table with ease.
If there were no issues with the food leaving the kitchen but issues arose between the kitchen and the table, then the poisoner was the one delivering the food.
Once the scope was narrowed down, the truth wouldn’t be far away.
She would act quickly.
"Brother!"
From afar, Jocelyn saw Justin Kingston and called out playfully, bouncing towards him.
Seeing her, Justin also smiled warmly, "Jocelyn."
Then, as the siblings chatted, they walked up towards the palace, directly going upstairs without arousing others’ suspicion.
The palace accommodating Justin Kingston was absolutely safe, free from any bugging devices; they had undergone thorough checks.
"Well? Do you have any news?" Justin had confidence in her.
