Chapter 1536: Chapter 1536: Trevor’s Grand Gift
"Did you hear me? Don’t use silence to argue back."
"Alright, alright, don’t worry, I’ll take good care of myself. I’m not just someone who blindly falls in love, and someone like Trevor, you have to admit, he’s definitely reliable."
"Marriage is not maintained by love alone, and certainly not by a momentary thrill," Carlotta Sterling was especially afraid she would get hurt. "You two are in love now and think you’re suitable for each other, but really reaching the step of marriage requires going through a lot of adjustments. Mom’s been around longer than you and has seen many examples."
As Janelle walked, she turned her head, sensing her anxiety, and asked, "Mom, is it that when I start dating, you feel like I’m about to get married? Like you’re going to lose me? Does that feeling seem especially strange to you?"
Carlotta’s heart skipped a beat, truly feeling like she’d hit the nail on the head.
She thought for a moment and said, "I’ve seen first loves that lasted eight years and ended in breakup, never to see each other again."
"Feelings are inherently uncertain, with too many unpredictable factors," Janelle responded to her very candidly.
Carlotta followed the box number Trevor provided and brought Janelle to the entrance.
Janelle was visibly surprised when she saw Trevor; the previous topic came to an abrupt halt.
With a gentle expression, Trevor, not expecting Auntie Sterling to bring Janelle over, stood up to greet them, "Was there any traffic on the way?" He was very happy to see Janelle again.
"No traffic at all, sorry to have kept you waiting," Carlotta said as she stepped inside.
Trevor was equally polite, "I just got here myself, and we’re still ten minutes early from the agreed time, so not a long wait at all."
"Sister Sterling!" Janelle realized and quickly pulled her arm, "Your business partner is The Dalton Group?!"
"Yes," Carlotta sat down in her chair.
My God! Janelle stood there, stunned!
Trevor walked over, put his arm around Janelle’s shoulder, and explained softly, "I was planning to tell you about this later, didn’t expect Auntie would already mention it."
"She didn’t tell me, I just found out now!" Janelle still seemed very shocked.
Trevor guided her to sit down in a seat, "Another partner will be here soon, and once he arrives, they’ll serve the meal immediately. The private home-cooked dishes here are all quite unique, worth trying."
As he spoke, Trevor poured tea himself, and handed the cup to Carlotta with both hands, "Auntie, please have some tea."
Actually, to a great extent, this dinner tonight was like a family gathering, and in front of Janelle, addressing each other as Mr. Trevino or President Sterling would seem too formal.
"Thank you," Janelle accepted the teacup he handed over and immediately caught the aroma, "Is this barley tea? It smells so nice!"
"Yes, and the barley is homegrown, all-natural, so the aroma is especially rich; you can’t get this outside."
"Then today is truly an honor," Janelle smiled as she looked towards him.
Just then, footsteps were heard approaching, and Nathan Mills walked in from the door. As soon as he saw who was inside, he stopped in his tracks, unsure whether to advance or retreat, equally astonished.
"Dad?" Janelle widened her eyes.
Carlotta’s face changed slightly, surprised, but quickly understood what was happening.
Trevor stood up and introduced, "This is Mr. Mills, everyone knows him, also our partner, so no need for much introduction." He clapped his hands and called out to the door, "Waiter, bring in the dishes!"
"Alright!" came a young lady’s response from outside.
Trevor’s gaze returned to Nathan Mills, quickly saying, "Uncle Mills, come on over and sit down!"
Nathan Mills finally understood, these were the three business partners, and this was all deliberately arranged by Trevor. Everyone was aware, except for Janelle, who had later pieced it together.
Just as Nathan took his seat, the wait staff began to bring in dishes one after another, introducing each dish’s origins as they did.
Even with all the dishes served, the awkward atmosphere hadn’t eased a bit.
