Chapter 214: Chapter 214 Samantha’s New Way Into G.S

Launching the surgical robot for tumor removal required strong support on multiple fronts, including collaboration with various component suppliers.

Because Rose’s model broke away from traditional medical robots, the requirements for its components were naturally even more demanding.

As for upstream partners, Rose was pleasantly surprised to discover that New Hope was fully capable of meeting every requirement for the machine.

New Hope had deep roots in the industry and had grown rapidly under the strong backing of Knigswell, resulting in a diverse product portfolio that included complete systems as well as components for both domestic and international markets.

As a supplier for G.S., New Hope represented an ideal partnership.

This solved the vast majority of G.S.’s component-related challenges.

Now that New Hope was under her management, Rose could perfectly control unit prices, giving G.S. a competitive edge while reducing production costs and minimizing integration challenges.

With Rose acting as the intermediary, New Hope and G.S. signed a contract.

Negotiations regarding the complete machine were still ongoing with other component manufacturers.

Rose and Caleb met with a leading figure in the sector from Washington, D.C., on short notice.

Ray Jones was particularly satisfied with their machine and offered a fair and reasonable price.

Rose shook his hand gratefully.

“I hope we’ll have a pleasant working relationship moving forward.”

“Since you’re already here, why don’t we have a meal together? I’ve reserved a private room upstairs,” Ray said warmly.

Caleb immediately agreed.

“No problem. Since you’ve come all the way to New York, it’s only right that we host you.”

Ray waved his hand.

“Don’t be so formal. We’ll be working together for a long time.”

Rose was in high spirits.

Securing another partner meant the future development of the equipment would proceed much more smoothly.

They headed upstairs.

As they passed one of the private rooms, a server happened to be entering and leaving.

In the brief moment Rose turned her head, her gaze instantly landed on the man seated in the center of the room.

Ryan sat leaning back in his chair with an air of effortless refinement.

Amid the world of wealth and influence, a faint smile rested at the corner of his lips, though his eyes remained unreadable.

Beside him, Samantha was whispering something in his ear, and he leaned slightly closer to listen.

Perhaps it was the intensity of her gaze.

During a pause in his conversation with Samantha, Ryan lifted his eyes, and his gaze met hers directly through the open doorway.

Rose frowned.

She immediately quickened her pace.

Coincidentally, Ray had also noticed the people inside the private room.

Before entering their own room, he lowered his voice and said, “Things are pretty lively over there. There have been some major changes.”

Caleb glanced at Rose before taking his seat.

“What do you mean?”

Ray was clearly well connected. “I just arrived in New York, and a friend told me something this morning. You know the parts company Sky High, right?”

Rose nodded.

Caleb smiled. “Of course. It’s one of the top three companies in New York and has a strong national presence. They hold several patented technologies and are one of G.S.’s most important partners.”

Some of the components used in their finished products could only be supplied by Sky High.

Like New Hope, it was one of their key upstream suppliers.

Ray clicked his tongue. “Then do you know about the major shake-up in Sky High’s shareholder structure?”

Rose’s brow twitched involuntarily.

She suddenly had a bad feeling.

The next moment, Ray continued gossiping.

“Sky High has a new shareholder. There was a huge stir in the industry a few days ago. Someone bought up a massive amount of shares at a premium price and became one of Sky High’s major shareholders.”

Rose dug her fingernail into her fingertip. “And who is this shareholder?”

Ray slapped the table.

“Didn’t you see President Knight from Kingswell in that private room we passed? He’s the one behind it. The lady sitting next to him is Sky High’s new shareholder. She bought a large number of shares and now holds a very influential position within the company.”

Hearing the answer she had already suspected, Rose felt a sharp pain in her chest.

Her ears rang.

She couldn’t tell whether it was anger or sheer disbelief.

She exchanged a glance with Caleb, and the two instantly understood.

G.S. had refused to allow Samantha to invest directly or share in the profits of the surgical robot project.

So Samantha had shifted her attention to G.S.’s upstream suppliers, forcing herself into the project from another direction.

This way, she would still be considered an important partner in the project and would still enjoy its benefits.

“They were probably attending a Sky High company dinner,” Ray said.

Then he remembered something and looked at Rose.

“So that means Ms. Hill and President Knight are now upstream partners of G.S.? That’s excellent. Sky High is a powerhouse, and President Knight has strong backing. G.S. is bound to benefit.”

Rose pressed her lips together and said nothing.

It felt as though she had been violated without warning.

The project belonged to her, yet Ryan had forced Samantha into it, leaving her no room to refuse.

No wonder Ryan had not insisted on buying shares in G.S.

He had plenty of other methods.

Watching the other woman enjoy the profits and attach herself to the project, benefiting from all of Rose’s hard work, still felt utterly—

She took a deep breath.

Caleb’s expression also darkened, though he hid it well as he poured Rose a glass of water.

Things had reached this point.

There was nothing they could do.

“President Knight really cares deeply for Miss Hill,” Ray said with a sigh. “Not every man would do something like this. It shows generosity and genuine affection.”

Rose took a sip of water to soothe the dryness in her throat.

“Indeed.”

“But,” Ray added mysteriously, “have you heard the gossip about the Knight family? I don’t know much about wealthy circles, but I heard President Knight already has a wife. Does she know her husband is giving another woman such honor and support? That’s why I always say women shouldn’t isolate themselves at home. Not even realizing someone has taken over your own home—that’s truly pitiful.”

Caleb opened his mouth, then closed it again.

He shot Rose a complicated look.

Rose, however, showed very little reaction.

She even smiled. “Yes. Being the cuckold everyone knows about really is pitiful.”

She said it lightly.

Ray failed to catch the hidden meaning and continued chatting with a smile.

The meal tasted like chewing wax.

Both Rose and Caleb felt uneasy.

Now that Samantha had risen to a position above them, the situation was far from favorable.

They would be forced to let Samantha profit from their work while remaining subject to her influence.

Rose felt as though she had become the one being exploited, destined to become Samantha’s source of gain.

There was no way she could remain calm.

After the meal, Rose went to the restroom.

Leaning against the sink, she tried to calm herself.

Ryan’s methods were simply too ruthless.

When G.S. rejected Samantha, he immediately changed tactics and forced G.S. into a position where it had no choice but to accept her involvement.

It was a move that struck directly at the heart of the issue.

They had been completely unprepared.

But if she simply allowed Samantha to step in and profit from all of her hard work...

She was still furious.

Once the project became successful, Samantha would begin enjoying the rewards.

Rose’s thoughts raced.

She was momentarily distracted.

The sound of high heels approached from beside her.

She looked up.

Samantha had walked directly toward her.

The woman looked radiant, with none of the despair and frustration she had shown only days earlier after the project had failed.

“I suppose we’ll be seeing each other quite often from now on,” Samantha said casually while washing her hands.

Rose looked at her indifferently.

Samantha smiled. “I know you wanted President Byrne to reject my investment proposal, but Rose, you shouldn’t be so possessive of other people’s companies and projects. Not everyone is a fish in your pond, completely under your control. Even if you throw yourself at people, you can’t win everyone over. You can’t stop me.”

In her eyes, Rose was simply wasting her effort.

Earlier, Rose had acted so confidently because of Trevor’s confession, but now that Trevor surely knew the truth about her circumstances, he had obviously distanced himself from her.

Rose looked at her coldly.

Just as Samantha turned to leave, Rose stepped forward and blocked her path.

Before Rose could speak, Samantha raised an eyebrow.

“Move aside. Ryan is still waiting for me outside.”
