Chapter 120: Chapter 120 Trevor is back
At the same time, the large screen in the venue displayed the detailed list of pharmaceutical companies participating in the approval process, along with the signatures and credits for each organization.
Ryan crossed one leg over the other and lifted his gaze slightly.
G.S. was ranked at the very top of the highest-tier category.
The list of project contributors was displayed clearly beneath it.
And Rose’s name— was listed first.
Oliver immediately jumped to his feet.
Pointing at the screen, he laughed in disbelief.
"President Byrne, there has to be some mistake. Rose is listed first? How is that appropriate?"
Everyone understood the significance of the top position.
That spot represented the project’s primary lead—the chief developer, principal researcher, and lead formulator.
It carried the same weight as being first author on a major scientific publication.
It wasn’t an honorary title.

It represented real contributions.
How could they not be shocked?
Even James showed a flicker of surprise.
His gaze settled on Rose’s calm, composed face.
Meanwhile, Samantha had already been feeling uncomfortable after Grace’s earlier questioning.
Now, seeing Rose’s name listed first, it felt as though countless needles were piercing her skin.
Her expression darkened.
Looking directly at Caleb, she demanded coldly, "President Byrne, what exactly does G.S. mean by this?"
Was he openly allowing Rose to take credit for someone else’s work?
Since when had G.S. become such an unprofessional organization?
Caleb glanced at her before turning toward Grace.
"Dr. Morris, regarding the question you asked Ms. Hill earlier, I can answer it for her."
He knew exactly what everyone in the room was thinking.
And Samantha’s attempt to claim credit moments ago had been shameless.
Unruffled, Grace nodded.
"Go ahead."
Caleb chuckled. "Ms. Hill did participate in the project and did submit a proposed formula."
He paused. "But it was completely rejected."
The room fell silent. "The formulation was fundamentally flawed. The side effects were too severe, and it prioritized efficacy at the expense of patient safety."
"It was discarded and rewritten from scratch."
He looked directly at Samantha. "So the success of this medication has absolutely nothing to do with Ms. Hill."
Samantha’s expression changed immediately.
She instinctively glanced around, wishing she could somehow lower the volume of Caleb’s voice.
She had assumed he was about to explain why Rose was listed as the lead contributor.
She never imagined he would publicly dismantle her claims instead.
Was he really using Rose to humiliate her like this?
Maintaining her composure, Samantha spoke slowly and clearly.
"I only said I participated in the project. I never explicitly claimed it was my work."
She looked hurt. "Hearing you speak this way, President Byrne, honestly makes me very sad. I’ve never done anything to offend you."
Rose understood exactly what Samantha was trying to do.
Remaining calm, she responded, "He’s simply stating the facts. Does telling the truth suddenly become bullying because you didn’t get the credit you wanted?"
"Rose."
Samantha sneered. "What needs to be explained right now is your theft of someone else’s work. Don’t let your personal emotions cloud your judgment."
Fortunately for everyone involved, the confrontation didn’t escalate further.
Grace’s assistant approached to remind her that she needed to leave for her next engagement.
Before departing, Grace glanced at Ryan, who had remained uninvolved throughout the entire exchange.
"Mr. Knight," she said calmly, "it’s best not to let things get out of hand in a public setting."
Ryan looked at her.
Grace paid no attention to his reaction.
She turned and walked away.
After all, it was the people Ryan had brought who were creating a scene and demanding explanations.
To her, the situation was driven entirely by personal interests.

And in that regard, Ryan was hardly blameless.
She had worked alongside Caleb before and knew his character well.
He was not the sort of person who abused his authority or manipulated project credits.
Samantha couldn’t understand it.
She had made her arguments perfectly clear.
So why wasn’t Grace questioning G.S. for allegedly handing out undeserved credit?
Why wasn’t she criticizing the team?
"Ladies and gentlemen, we’ll be taking our leave."
Caleb had no interest in continuing the discussion.
Likewise, Rose couldn’t be bothered arguing with fools.
The two turned and walked away together.
Just like that, the farce came to an abrupt end.
*******
Oliver stared after them in disbelief. "Has President Byrne lost his mind?"
He shook his head. "There are so many senior researchers on that team, yet he gives the top credit to Rose? Does she really have that much influence?"
James glanced at him. "Why can’t it be Rose?"
His tone was calm. "She’s more than capable."
Samantha looked up at Rose’s name displayed on the giant screen.
Her expression turned sour.
A flicker of resentment crossed her eyes.
"Impossible."
She took a deep breath. "Don’t forget what happened not long ago. G.S. removed Rose from the clinical trial team."
She continued, "Besides, Ryan invested an enormous amount of money into G.S. Rose was directly involved in securing that investment."
Her voice carried certainty. "That’s enough reason for G.S. to give her special treatment. This is nothing more than a purchased honor. It shouldn’t be taken seriously."
Back when the hospital scandal had erupted, Rose had nearly lost her position at G.S.
Samantha firmly believed Rose had somehow convinced Caleb to pressure Ryan into making that massive investment.
That was why Caleb favored her.
Oliver found the explanation convincing.
Shaking his head, he sighed. "Even if that’s true, how far can she really go?"
"Maybe she got lucky this time."
"But can she keep doing it forever?"
A silent sneer appeared on Samantha’s lips.
What Rose had done was no different from stealing.
She had stolen the hard work of the G.S. team and the Columbia University researchers.
Eventually, there would be consequences.
Any success she enjoyed would be temporary.
"Ryan..."
Although Samantha understood the logic, resentment still burned inside her.
The unwillingness.
The jealousy.
The frustration.
All of it churned within her.
Looking up at Ryan, she adopted a sorrowful expression.
Ryan slowly rose to his feet.

Then he looked toward James, who appeared deep in thought.
"Your grandmother seems quite interested in Rose."
At the mention of Rose, Samantha pressed her lips together.
Her mood worsened immediately.
James frowned as well.
Could that really be true?
His grandmother had never shown such warmth toward anyone before.
*****
Rose could more or less guess what was happening back inside the venue.
After leaving the conference hall, she happened to see Grace preparing to get into her car.
The moment Grace saw her, she waved enthusiastically.
"Rose."
Rose hurried over.
Grace delayed getting into the car and instead pulled out her phone.
"Rose, let’s exchange contact information on WhatsApp."
Rose happily agreed. "I’ll scan your QR code."
The more Grace looked at Rose, the more she liked her.
The chemistry between people was truly inexplicable.
After accepting Rose’s contact request, Grace smiled warmly.
"When you’re free, come have dinner at my place."
She continued, "I’ll be staying in New York for the next two months to oversee a project and mentor students. You and Caleb should come by sometime."
Rose smiled. "I’d love to. Thank you for the invitation."
Grace genuinely had other obligations to attend to.
Though she felt strangely reluctant to leave, she had no choice.
Eventually, she got into the car.
Rose stood there watching as it drove away.
Beside her, Caleb looked surprised.
"Do you know how difficult Dr. Morris usually is?"
He shook his head. "I’ve hardly ever seen her smile. Yet she’s remarkably kind to you."
Rose shrugged. "Well, I’m good-looking."
She grinned. "You’re lucky you’re tagging along with me and getting a free meal at Dr. Morris’s house. You should be grateful."
Caleb: "..."
He suddenly had the urge to pinch her.
The two often joked around like this.
But today’s success truly deserved a celebration.
The drug had officially completed the approval process.
Now the responsibility would pass to the company’s other departments.
Caleb smiled. "Everyone has worked incredibly hard for this."
"Let’s organize a celebration banquet. We’ll all go out, relax, and have some fun."
"I’ll make the arrangements."
Rose had no objections.
The entire team had spent countless late nights in the laboratory.
Everyone was exhausted.

There was still a long road ahead before the medication would be included in insurance programs, enter large-scale production, and officially launch on the market.
But the hardest part was finally behind them.
******
Just as they were about to get into the car, Rose’s phone rang.
Without checking the caller ID, she answered immediately.
"Hello?"
There was a brief silence on the other end.
Then a man’s deep, cool voice came through the receiver.
"Rose."
"It’s Trevor."
A pause followed. "I’m back in the Country."
"Would it be convenient for us to meet?"
