Chapter 1153: Chapter 466: Rockhorn (Part 2)
Alka could even hear a note of anxiety in his fluent tapping speech.
You had to know that when he was in the Stone Forest communicating with those Half-Element creatures, he either spoke in a halting, stumbling way, or when it was fluent it was extremely stiff, as if he had no emotions.
Even that Elder, apart from speaking smoothly, had no emotional fluctuation in his voice.
Yet this Minotaur in front of them spoke in an extremely smooth and steady tone, with emotions rising and falling very clearly.
If Alka didn’t know he was a Half-Element creature of the Stonehoof Race, and hadn’t seen most of his clansmen, he would have thought this was a flesh-and-blood being.
"That’s right, we came from over there. I don’t know what that place looked like before, but it doesn’t seem to have any problems now."
Hearing Alka’s reply, the Minotaur in front of him nodded.
Even his facial expressions were vivid and lifelike.
"Thank you, everyone. I’m a member of the Stonehoof Race, my name is Rockhorn."
After they introduced themselves to one another.
Lucilia, sitting on Alka’s shoulder, couldn’t help asking, "You’re really different from your clansmen, you know. You speak very fluently, and you have emotional ups and downs."
Rockhorn smiled at that and said, "Maybe it’s because I’ve lived among human communities for a very long time."
"Speaking of which, why are you in such a deep area? This place is far too dangerous for you, isn’t it?" Alka asked from the side.
At those words Rockhorn sighed, leaned against the stone wall, and said, "You must be very puzzled. My brother and I left the Stone Forest 213 years and 7 day–nights ago. We planned to get to know this world properly."
Then he added awkwardly, "But your world turns out to be an Ocean world, so we never even made it off this continent.
After traveling around this World Scar for a bit, we joined the front lines and fought those Demons, becoming Mercenaries.
We traded your money for some materials and Crystal Stones imbued with Earth Element power."
Hearing this, Alka and the others nodded; it all made quite a bit of sense.
"But earlier—about a month ago, I think—when we were chasing a Demon, that Demon forcibly opened a Teleportation Gate and dragged us along, sending us here.
Honestly, we were so unlucky. We did kill that Demon, but the Evil Spirits here are even more dangerous.
My brother... died at the hands of the Evil Spirits. Because I have faith in the Holy Mother, I at least have some ways to deal with these Evil Spirits, and that’s how I’ve barely managed to survive here."
At this point, the Half-Element Minotaur folded his hands, looked at Alka, and pleaded, "For the Holy Mother’s sake, my friend.
Can you do me a favor? My brother’s Core Crystal Stone is still over there, and there are Evil Spirits around it—I simply can’t get through. It’s been so long and I still haven’t found a single opening to retrieve it."
Hearing this, Alka nodded, suddenly enlightened—so that was it.
No wonder there was an extra Crystal Stone.
So this was the reason.
Thinking that, Alka took out the Crystal Stone they had already obtained from his storage space.
"Is it one like this?"
Seeing this Crystal Stone, Rockhorn’s expression showed a bit of surprise; then he nodded and asked, puzzled, "How do you have this kind of Crystal Stone?
My clansmen shouldn’t have let something like this end up outside, you know."
"This was entrusted to us by the Elder of the Stonehoof Race to find in this mountain range. He said there are three in total."
Hearing Alka say this, Rockhorn suddenly understood as well; clearly, he knew about this matter.
"Thank you so much, really, thank you for helping our people. But this one isn’t my brother’s.
So many Evil Spirits were chasing me just now because I tried to retrieve my brother’s Crystal Stone and disturbed the Evil Spirits around there."
Rockhorn sighed as he spoke.
It had to be said, although his appearance was similar to the Half-Element members of the Stonehoof Race, his emotional expression and the flexibility of his speech were basically no different from a normal flesh-and-blood being.
Hearing Rockhorn’s request, Alka nodded.
Leaving aside that they were already planning to search for Crystal Stones, on top of that Rockhorn actually turned out to be a follower of the Holy Mother. For Alka and the others, lending a hand was absolutely no problem.
After all, for these Half-Element beings of Earth Element, these Evil Spirits made this area extremely dangerous to operate in.
But for Alka and the others, there was almost no threat; they had far too many ways to deal with these Evil Spirits.
At most it would just mean walking a bit farther.
Alka nodded and said, "No problem. You can come with us too. We need to go deeper inside to find something; once we find it, we’ll take you out with us.
That’ll be safer for you."
Hearing Alka say this, Rockhorn nodded and said happily, "That couldn’t be better. Thank you so much for your help."
He thanked them once again; after all, before Alka and the others came in, he had already lost all hope.
He had just been struggling to stay alive in the midst of despair.
Who could have expected hope to arrive so suddenly.
Led by Rockhorn, Alka and the others set out once more, heading toward the place where his brother had died.
Very soon they saw the stone pillar formed after a Half-Element creature’s death. This particular pillar was even taller than the first one they had seen, a full twelve or thirteen meters high, and extremely thick, like a stone tower.
A large number of Evil Spirits had gathered around it; no one knew whether the reason they congregated here was that they were lying in wait for prey.
