Lunch consisted of five dishes and a soup. To accommodate Yan Xinya and Wen Yang’s appetites, a few extra servings were added.
The table and chairs in the restaurant were simply wiped down, and the group gathered around a long table, excitedly grabbing meat and vegetables from the spread.
"This one's mine!"
Yan Xinya picked up a piece of salted pepper shrimp with her chopsticks, quickly stuffing it into her mouth, chewing as her eyes scanned for her next target.
"What’s the point of fighting over it..." Ning Chu mumbled, resting her chin in her hand, clearly uninterested in the food on the table.
She had eaten twice in the morning, and even though it was already noon, she wasn’t feeling the slightest bit of hunger.
She couldn’t tell if it was just that she ate little, or if succubi generally had small appetites. Lily, for instance, didn’t seem to have much of an appetite either, though it was unclear how those C-cup chest muscles were developed.
"Where are Shaoqing and the others? Have they gotten up yet?" she turned to Wen Yang and asked.
Wen Yang pulled out his phone and sent a message to Zhang Shaoqing. After a moment, he looked up and answered, "They’re on their way, probably still an hour or so away. I’ll go downstairs to meet them when they arrive."
"Ah, okay~ Shaoqing and Qianqian didn’t do the cleaning, so we’ll have to punish them tonight."
She said this while lowering her head to eat, which resulted in Ning Chu accidentally taking a bite of her own hair.
Sighing in frustration, she pushed the strands behind her ear with her fingertips, holding them back with her left hand to keep them from falling into her mouth again when she looked down.
When she was still a man, she thought the gesture of girls ~Nоvеl𝕚ght~ pushing their hair back while eating looked graceful and full of feminine charm. Now, she only found herself irritated by the inconvenience of long hair.
Even when sleeping at night, she often ended up pulling her hair, which caused her scalp to hurt.
The others at the table were well aware she was a succubus, and the heart-shaped tail she kept hidden under her skirt was blatantly sticking out from beneath the hem, looking like a cat’s tail, raised high and gently swaying behind her.
"This is the first time I’ve seen Ning Chu’s tail!"
Qianqian leaned back, staring at the long, slender tail, "It really is heart-shaped! How cute."
"Does Lily’s tail look the same?" she turned to Lily.
But Lily was wearing a long skirt, so her tail was hidden and couldn’t be seen. She didn’t seem interested in changing clothes either. Instead, she simply explained, "The shape of the heart is different."
"It’s rounder for me," Ning Chu added, "Lily’s heart looks sharper and is pure black."
"Oh~"
Though Qianqian had known Ning Chu and Lily were succubi, she only now felt more familiar with what being a succubus truly entailed. "Do the tails serve any purpose?"
Ning Chu felt slightly awkward and, with a blush on her face, turned her head away. "Uh... just for decoration, I guess?"
She couldn’t exactly say that the tail was more enjoyable to play with when... you know, in a more intimate situation.
"Why doesn’t Lily have horns?" Qianqian asked, her curiosity piqued.
Lily stood up, grabbed her small handbag from the counter, and took out a pair of decorative horns, placing them on her head.
Though still with her usual cool expression, her chin was slightly raised, a hint of smugness in her demeanor.
"So, Ning Chu’s horns are fake too?"
"Yep," Ning Chu replied.
"Then what are these horns for?"
Ning Chu’s face turned even redder. "Also for decoration, they don’t serve any real purpose."
She really couldn’t explain that it was like a steering wheel!
Although Qianqian might not be as innocent as she appeared, she still couldn’t bring herself to say something like that in front of everyone.
"I’m different!" Yan Xinya shook her wolf ears, "My ears can hear farther, and my tail helps me keep balance!"
"Doesn’t your tail also double as a blanket in summer?" Ning Chu teased.
"Well, it works for that too! It’s really warm!"
Indeed, if it weren’t for the warmth of fur coats and scarves, they wouldn’t be sold for such high prices.
The group of girls shifted from discussing the uses of their non-human accessories to chatting about cosmetics and manicures, before the conversation quickly turned to a popular TV series that had recently gained widespread attention.
Wen Yang, caught in the midst of the all-female group, looked somewhat out of place. Unable to insert himself into the conversation, he focused solely on eating.
As the conversation grew more lively, Ning Chu realized she was facing a dilemma similar to Wen Yang’s.
Cosmetics and TV series were things she at least had some experience with, but she couldn’t recognize half of the stars or the "giegie" gossip that was being discussed.
Yan Xinya was the type who loved to "ship" couples and was always eager to watch romantic idol dramas, chatting away nonstop about such topics.
Qianqian, still young, also liked to follow celebrities, and even Lily occasionally took an interest. But Ning Chu still couldn’t understand the appeal of following celebrities or obsessing over fictional relationships.
Learning about makeup and skincare could at least make you look better~
"Wen Yang..." Ning Chu leaned over to his ear and whispered, "Want to go out and take a walk this afternoon? To the beach?"
Since they were in a coastal city and the weather was just right, it would be nice to stroll along the beach.
"I’m fine with anything, as long as you want to go."
"Have you been to the beach before?"
Wen Yang shook his head. His hometown was in a mountainous area, and had he not gone to university, he probably would never have left his small town.
"Let’s go when the tide is low. Maybe we can even collect some crabs or shells!"
Yan Xinya’s wolf ears perked up excitedly, and she immediately jumped in, "Today? Let’s go together!"
Ning Chu rolled her eyes in frustration.
She had whispered so quietly, yet Yan Xinya still overheard—what a dog!
She just wanted to take a stroll with Wen Yang on the beach, some intimate time between them as a couple. Why was this big-tailed wolf joining in on the fun?
"Let’s go to the hot springs tonight, then we can camp by the beach tomorrow night?"
Mentioning camping sparked Ning Chu’s interest.
She remembered going camping by the beach when she was around five or six years old with her mother and brother. Though her memories were vague, she still recalled the joy of that day.
"Qianqian? Lily?" she turned to the other two and asked for their opinions.
"Won’t it be a bit cold at the beach with this weather?" Qianqian hesitated.
The current temperature was just over twenty degrees, Ning Chu was wearing long sleeves, while Wen Yang, not afraid of the cold, was already dressed for summer.
Yan Xinya shook her head, "If we’re just camping, how could it be cold? We won’t be swimming, so it’s fine!"
"What about the tent?" Lily spoke up.
"You can rent one, it’s not expensive."
Hearing them discuss the camping plans, Ning Chu, having finished eating, stood up with an eager look on her face and turned to Lily, "Lily, can I go play games in your bedroom?"
"Mm."
"Wen Yang..."
It was the girls’ room, so naturally, Ning Chu had to ask Lily for permission before Wen Yang could go in.
Lily didn’t mind at all, "Sure."
Her eyes lit up as she grabbed Wen Yang, who hadn’t finished eating, and pulled him toward the bedroom, "There are a few game consoles in my room! And there are two controllers, so we can play together!"
Lily glanced back at Ning Chu and Wen Yang heading for the bedroom but noticed a red figure following behind them.
"Qianqian?"
"I’m going to watch them play games!" Qianqian cheerfully followed them inside.
Lily’s right eyelid twitched nervously as she mentally recalled the drawers and corners of her bedroom...
Everything should be cleaned up, right?
