Wen Yang had already familiarized himself with the royal romance stories written by his little author. While he couldn’t remember every detail perfectly, he had a rough outline of each short story's plot.
If he remembered correctly, Ning Chu had written one about twin sisters on the student council, one cold as ice, the other fiery and passionate. The sisters served as president and vice-president of the council, and both fell for the male protagonist at first sight when he joined.
The ice-cold elder sister was manageable, reserved deep down, and wouldn’t make any bold moves.
But the fiery younger sister often roped her sister in to “help” and acted as a package deal...
Any student-related meetings were bound to involve the student council, so he’d likely run into one of the sisters.
Although the setting might be different, the result would probably be the same.
"So, why did you even write royal romances?"
As they ate lunch, Wen Yang and Ning Chu practically sighed at the same time.
But Ning Chu quickly furrowed her brows, grumbling, "If I hadn’t written them, who knows if you’d even exist in this world?"
"Yes, yes," Wen Yang replied, not entirely convinced that he owed his existence to her stories.
"Besides," Ning Chu continued, "it doesn’t have to be you attending the meeting. Let Shaoqing or Wang Jie go."
Zhang Shaoqing would probably rather die than go. He’d rather sit in the dorm sipping water than do something like this. And Wang Jie was too absorbed in his games; unless his girlfriend dragged him out, he stuck strictly to class and dorm.
After realizing both were hopeless, Ning Chu paused and suggested, "How about we just skip it?"
"Not going might work..."
She noticed the hesitation in Wen Yang’s voice, her almond eyes narrowing with a dangerous glint. "You sound like you’re eager to see those sisters, huh~?"
"No way! Not at all!" Wen Yang denied emphatically.
Even with a girlfriend, it was normal for a guy to have a tiny bit of fantasy, right?
"I’m just worried the ghost advisor might hold a grudge and give us a hard time."
"And if the meeting turns out to be important, we might get into trouble for skipping."
"True... Women are vengeful by nature, and she’s a ghost, no less." Ning Chu pouted, muttering, "I learned that the hard way with Lily! She really knows how to hold a grudge~"
All she did was embarrass Lily a bit in front of her aunt and uncle, exposing her true self. Yet at the beginning of the semester, Lily sent her a giant toy, leaving her sandwiched between two pillows, barely able to get up the next morning.
"Let’s go, then. Better to prepare now than face unexpected trouble later."
The campus was big, but as long as they were in the same school, there’d be no avoiding them for the next four years.
Wen Yang nodded knowingly. "Alright."
"I’ll go with you, just to make sure you don’t get any funny ideas~"
"Even if I did, I wouldn’t act on them."
Ning Chu’s brows shot up in mock shock and anger. "Oh, so you admit you would dare have ideas, huh?"
"No, no, none at all!"
"Humph!"
Having once been a guy herself, she could guess most of Wen Yang’s thoughts, but she didn’t mind.
Actions spoke louder than thoughts. If it came down to what was in people’s hearts, no one in this world would be innocent; everyone’s a little perverted, one way or another.
Too bad Wen Yang was a royal romance protagonist, unaffected even by a succubus. Otherwise, she’d be safe.
After eating half her bowl of rice, Ning Chu casually slid her tray with the rest of her food over to Wen Yang.
"Not finishing?"
"Mhm, I’m full. Didn’t taste great..."
"Soon you’ll have me turning into a pig."
Her eyes sparkled as she nodded eagerly. "That’s the plan! Maybe if you get chubby, no bad women will try to hit on you!"
"And then you’d kick me out once you get sick of me?"
"Not {N•o•v•e•l•i•g•h•t} that far~"
Too bad Ning Chu’s tastes didn’t include chubby guys.
Yawning, she rubbed her watery eyes, propping her chin on her hands, watching Wen Yang devour his meal.
She didn’t know when it started, but she was beginning to enjoy watching him eat. It gave her an odd sense of calm and happiness.
Her mind drifted to how she’d handle the possible student council sisters scenario at the right time and in the right way. But her thoughts soon became muddled, eyelids growing heavy, until her head suddenly drooped, startling her back awake.
Wen Yang glanced at her nodding off and checked the time. "It’s only twelve-thirty. If you head to the girls’ dorm, you could still get an hour’s nap."
"But the meeting..."
"I’ll go alone; you catch up on some sleep."
Although the drunk neighbors only argued for half an hour last night, it completely killed Ning Chu’s drowsiness, keeping her up until around four or five in the morning with no midnight snack to help her sleep.
"Fine..." Ning Chu murmured, a little worried. "Just watch out for the younger sister; she might try to ambush you."
"I wouldn’t be surprised if they had their eye on you after your performance at the sports meet."
"I’ve seen their photos on the school forum. They’re actually pretty, not much different from Lily, and together they’re quite a force..."
The more she spoke, the more anxious she became, afraid Wen Yang wouldn’t withstand the temptation.
But Wen Yang simply replied, "Looks only matter up to a point; it’s all about the vibe."
"True."
Her anxiety faded. She was practically Wen Yang’s perfect type—thanks to long-term conditioning and the fact that Wen Yang was based on her ideal protagonist.
"So I’m going to find Xinya and Lily?"
"Yeah, I’ll head to the library after I finish eating, then I’ll go to the meeting."
"Alright, see you!"
Stretching and covering her mouth as she yawned, Ning Chu got up and eagerly dashed toward the girls’ dormitory.
Since she was assigned to Yan Xinya’s dorm, she felt justified in paying rent to sleep elsewhere. So what’s wrong with taking a nap?
She jogged to the dorm, entering confidently through the front door.
There was a time she would sneak in, terrified of being reported and getting a warning from the school, but now she was officially a resident.
At the end of the hallway on the first floor, Ning Chu pushed open the door to the dorm room and peeked inside.
As usual, it was a bit messy, with a faint scent of makeup lingering in the air.
"Anyone home?"
She stared at the empty room, puzzled. "Isn’t it lunchtime?"
Confused, she wandered in, looking around, until her gaze settled on a bed with a noticeably lumpy blanket.
Getting closer, she could hear faint, alluring sounds coming from under the covers.
A familiar head, bright with suggestive thoughts, peeked out. Lily looked at her, clearly relieved. "Oh, it’s just you..."
"Doing something naughty in the middle of the day? Without locking the door?"
Though she’d caught Lily in the act, Ning Chu surprisingly felt calm, with only a slight blush tinting her cheeks.
She couldn’t help but miss her old, innocent self...
