"Ning Chu! Why do you have dark circles under your eyes?!"

As soon as Yan Xinya stepped into the classroom, she immediately noticed the faint shadows under Ning Chu’s eyes. Her tail swished as she hurried over with a mix of surprise and concern.

Ning Chu lacked the energy to respond, lazily glancing at the wolf-girl before yawning and spacing out again. "Didn’t sleep well last night."

"Did Wen Yang not let you sleep? That's too much!"

"???"

"You were glowing just the other day~ Today you look so pitiful."

"Two people next door got drunk and argued for over half an hour," Ning Chu said, giving the wolf-girl an exasperated look. "Lily's totally corrupted you, hasn’t she?"

Yan Xinya plopped down next to her, curious. "So, did you call the police?"

"No, they were pretty reasonable. Wen Yang went over to knock on their door, and it was settled in under two minutes."

There was no argument or anything like that. Wen Yang's nearly six-foot-three height was usually enough for most people to settle down and listen to reason when he showed up.

If reasoning didn’t work, Wen Yang wouldn’t hesitate to use force, but he preferred to avoid causing trouble.

Ning Chu glanced over at Wen Yang, who was engrossed in his book. A smile crept onto her face. "Wen Yang is really reliable~ but he scared me; he’s terrifying when he’s angry."

"I’ve never seen Wen Yang get angry~" Yan Xinya mumbled, looking at Wen Yang’s handsome, strong face. She just couldn’t imagine what he’d look like angry.

Plus, Wen Yang always seemed so good-natured—a solid, dependable type, though he’d been somewhat led astray by Zhang Shaoqing.

The wolf-girl gave a sugary-sweet grin, her tail wagging like a fan as she swayed her head and ears. "That’s so sweet~ sounds so secure~ how sweet~"

"....."

She turned her head to look at Ning Chu’s head and reached out to touch it.

"Stop touching me!"

"I just wanted to check if you’ve grown horns yet~"

"It’s not that fast!" Ning Chu reflexively touched her own head, sighing in frustration. "Besides, people with horns aren’t common..."

Among non-humans, it’s mainly dragons, bulls, goats, deer, and succubi that have horns, right?

The former didn’t need to hide tails; usually, they were tall and strong, natural athletes. She’d even seen a few at the sports meet last year.

Ning Chu, on the other hand, looked like a soft, delicate girl with a touch of charm. Anyone with a bit of knowledge about non-humans would likely guess she was a succubus.

The days ahead were bound to get complicated...

She cast a glance at Zhang Shaoqing’s smug face.

Especially with this guy around! He’d definitely use it as material to tease her!

It wasn’t that she couldn’t handle teasing; she just didn’t want him to push it too far and end up angering Wen Yang.

"Hey! Qianqian still not talking to you?"

Zhang Shaoqing looked like a heartbroken poet, tilting his head at a forty-five-degree angle to gaze wistfully out the window. "Yeah, she’s suddenly stopped talking to me."

But then, he immediately brightened up. "But I’ve recaptured that feeling of love at first sight! This time, I’ll win her over!"

"And then stop liking her again?"

"No way! You think I’m that fickle?"

Looking at his self-satisfied face, Ning Chu nodded earnestly. "Yep, you’re exactly that fickle."

"Screw you! You’re the fickle one!"

This guy had zero self-awareness; his unique tastes made him the perfect blond villain type.

"Hey, what did you and Wen Yang do yesterday afternoon? I asked the wolf-girl, but she wouldn’t tell me."

"Uh..." Ning Chu thought for a moment, then decided to be honest. "I wasn’t feeling well, so I went for a check-up."

"Are you pregnant?"

"Screw off!"

Zhang Shaoqing’s curiosity didn’t waver. "So what’s the issue?"

"The doctor said I might grow horns."

"!!!" Both he and Wang Jie turned their heads in shock, scanning Ning Chu up and down, unable to find any non-human traits.

Looking at her ears... they were hidden under her hair. No animal ears on her head. Looking at her tail... her coat covered her down to her hips, so nothing was visible.

"So you’re not human?"

"Why? Is that a problem?"

"You... just don’t look like it..."

If horns weren’t so hard to hide, she wouldn’t have had to preemptively warn Zhang Shaoqing, anticipating he’d overreact.

She propped her cheek on her hand, gazing at the teacher up front, her eyes filled with a faint melancholy.

Compared to the shock of finding out yesterday that she’d grow horns, she was now feeling more resigned about the whole thing. Time had eased her resistance.

She might even look forward to trying out some "experiments" with Wen Yang once she had her "steering wheels"...

Suddenly, she caught herself, facepalming in regret.

Her brain really was turning succubus-like!

"Oh my gosh! I pulled a rare card!"

"Good luck today! Try dropping a couple of thousand to see if it continues!"

A rich classmate’s sudden shout had everyone turning in their seats to see, Ning Chu included, peeking over in curiosity.

"No way! You’re so lucky!"

"Didn’t even flinch spending two thousand!"

"Quiet! Quiet!"

The teacher angrily slammed his hand on the desk, fuming at the sheer audacity of students chatting and playing on their phones during class.

Wen Yang, ever the model student, was completely unaffected by the noise around him, his head down, taking notes rapidly.

By the time class ended, he’d only exchanged a few words with Ning Chu, spending the rest of the time fully focused on the lesson. Coming from a struggling background, he firmly believed that knowledge could change his destiny.

There was hardly any resemblance left to the rich ladies’ playboy character from the novels.

Waiting for the classroom to clear out, Ning Chu stretched. "What should we eat for lunch~?"

"Up to you, I’m good with anything."

Wen Yang started gathering up their notes and textbooks. "You have to memorize several English words this week, don’t forget."

"No worries, Qianqian’s my English teacher. She won’t test me~"

He sighed. "You’re the one who said you’d focus on studying in college."

"Did I say that?"

Ning Chu frowned, searching her memory but coming up blank. She probably just said it offhandedly to stop Wen Yang from dating back then.

"It’s not like I’m not studying~ I’ve been paying attention in class." She picked up her bag, following him out of the classroom. "Where to after lunch? Library? I can type on my phone «N.o.v.e.l.i.g.h.t» there."

"Mm, sure."

They turned a corner in the hallway, just about to head downstairs when they suddenly ran into... a ghost.

"Wen Yang? Just who I was looking for." The advisor An’an smiled at the startled pair. "No need to be tense, we can talk here."

"What is it?"

"Who’s the head of your dorm? There’s a meeting at noon, all dorm heads need to attend. Help me post a reminder in the group chat."

Wen Yang glanced down at his little succubus companion.

But Ning Chu was now assigned to Yan Xinya’s dorm, leaving the position vacant.

"Head... I guess that’s me?"

"Mm, at 1:30 PM, Room 201. Don’t forget to take roll."

"Didn’t I say I wasn’t the class rep anymore... but here I am still doing the class rep’s job?"

Wen Yang complained, but suddenly he remembered something, exchanging a look with Ning Chu. Their expressions changed simultaneously.
